Sep 27, 2010This may sound strange but a few days ago I decided to have my WIFI 'Always On', and since then my battery seems to last alot longer.I have tried switching it off for a day to see if it was just coincidence, but with WIFI turned off, my battery died alot quicker. I thought it could be that when connecting through 3G it has to connect through the mass which could be miles away, but through WIFI it only has to connect to my router which is within 5 metres at all times. Maybe I am wrong but nonetheless its great being able to have my WIFI switched on at all times without loosing battery power quicker Is this the case with anyone else?Maybe some people could try this for a day to see if it improves your battery, and if it does so for you as it does for me, then there is another option to improve your battery life

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Way To Increase Battery Life?
Oct 7, 2010I just ordered the Xperia X10a. Customer Retentions gave me a great deal on it (Great deal = entirely 100% free, I figure I really couldn't beat "free" :P) and so I said "Yes, that sounds lovely" (not an exact transcript of my reaction). I now await its arrival in the mail. So I've been pretty damn excited about it. But then I did the ONE thing I told myself not to do: go trolling on the internet for all the negatives. I knew there were going to be negatives, that's the nature of smartphones, there's always going to be something if not multiple somethings. But I have to admit I was unprepared for the sheer amount of complaints over the battery life. Now I'm depressed (not really, but you know what I mean). Did I just order myself a lemon? I mean don't get me wrong, you still can't beat a free phone I suppose, but is it a free mobile phone, or a free "I need to get to a wall outlet so I can charge this thing because it discharged after only an hour and a half" phone, which isn't exactly all that mobile (ok, well it's mobile, just not mobile + useful at the same time -- I admit I was sort of hoping for the latter. Pipe dreams, what can I say).

Apr 8, 2010Is anyone else having serious problems with the battery life? After fully charging the phone, I can't get more than 12 hours usage out of it, even if it's on standby for 95% of the time. I'm guessing something is seriously using up the battery somewhere but I'm not sure what. I've been to Settings --> About --> Phone Usage and it says where the battery has been used, but 40%+ is on Phone idle, and 40%+ is on cell idle (I'm guessing signal), but surely this shouldn't be happening, the figures on the Sony website give standby hours in the hundreds not less than 10.

May 14, 2010Ok people, I have found a way to extend your battery life enormously, to the extent that it is what it was advertised by Sony. Some of you guys may know that I have helped on a lot of other minor issues when the x10 first came out so am not lying on this.In the battery life thread, I have mentioned that last week, my battery was amazingly great where overnight, it only reduced 3-5% of the battery and a good days use only drained about 30-40% of the battery. I did not know how this happened but I have finally found out now after testing it 3 times.
My solution:
I turned off my phone, then turn it back on, used tasks killer right away because the phone when turned on, activates a lot of apps and then i killed all apps except my beautiful widgets and settings. And that is it, battery was amazing and you can use your apps as normal and battery life was as good as mentioned above.
Now, the problem that kills the battery where you will have to restart your phone again for the good battery life: When downloading a new app or updating from the market, the battery became horrendous again. When I did this, the battery overnight drained 25-30% and a days use drained over 60%.But all I did was restart my phone after installing a new app or updating and did what I mentioned above and the battery was back to it's amazing self.I have tested this 3 times and it works for me. It is as simple as turning off your phone and back on again so go and try it to see if it works for you.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Make My Battery Life Last Longer?
May 19, 2010I have a sprint htc hero works fine just battery life has been an issue for me I can't really keep my battery to even last a full day I usually have to recharge couple times a day. Is there anyway I can avoid having to recharge so much my phone isn't rooted and I have Astro and task manager installed but it still dies pretty fast. What can I do? Is there an app I can download?

May 27, 2010A couple of days ago, the battery went from 8:00am right through to 5:00am (i.e. 21 hours) with around 2 hours of phone calls, about half with bluetooth, probably 50 texts and maybe 15 minutes of WiFi. After all of that, it still had 50% left according to the battery widget I have. Unbelievable! I had changed nothing from the previous day, in terms of settings, applications etc. The next day, it was back to it's usual 15 hours before getting down to about 10%. I have absolutely no idea why it decided to give me a decent day!

Aug 10, 2010so what if each of uses this thread to clearly state the problems that they are having with the X10, please don't go on about firmware updates etc as this isn't an actual problem, we all knew the firmware the phone was running when we bought it, so therefore I feel we have to accept that is down to us as we made the choice to buy the phone. please pop in and acknoledge the posts every now and then, just so we know our complaints aren't falling on deaf ears. I am hving problems with 1/ In call volume is very low and needs to be fixed asap 2/ Battery Life is very poor, I mainly only send texts at the moment as I cant hear calls and also use the ebook reader for maybe an hour or two a day, yet I have to charge the phone halfway through the day, even though I fully chatge it at night.....

Nov 11, 2010Recently as in the past few days I have noticed that new emails aren't giving me the status update/green flashing light as SMS messages are. The only thing I've done recently is re-flashed with the BA20 update and did a restore from Titanium backup of my apps and system info. I am getting mail, but no indicator. I have the account set to check every 5 mins and send and indication.
I sent a test email to my account and went into settings, data sync and synced gmail and the the indicator worked as it immediately found my new test email. I've received several emails in the past few days though with no indication. Any thoughts?

Jun 11, 2010First off, I didn't "find" this method on my own someone else did, I found it burred in other posts but it does seem to work for me. There are two ways to do this. One required you to dial a code into your dialer which I'll skip because the easy way is to just go to the Apps Market and get "Network" which is free. Then once you have it installed fire it up and scroll to the very bottom where you will see:
Set preferred network type. This is the VERY top option. If this is your first time running "Network" it's probably set to "GSM auto (PRL)".The problem here I've read is that Sprint does not have GSM networks so the phone keeps "searching" for GSM signals and it never truly sleeps. It might apprear to be sleeping but it's not, it looking for GSM signals.That said, change the setting to "CDMA auto (PRL)" which will set the phone to CDMA only and it will STOP looking for GSM networks and to go sleep like it's suppose to. That's if you have nothing else installed keeping it from sleeping.The only catch is, the setting does not appear to stick. If you reboot the phone, you have to restart "Network" and redo the setting. One thing to note is when you redo the setting, it will SAY it's still set to CDMA auto (PRL) but in fact it is not so just re-select the setting and close out of Network.I took my phone off the charger at 10am this morning and I've been using it on and off all day to send texts, Youtubed a couple video's made a 30+ minute call and a few other odds and ends. Normally I would have had to charge my phone again at least once threw out the day but I've NOT put it back on the charge since 10am and I was still at 83% power when I left work at 5pm.

Aug 22, 2010So after turning off "adjust automatically" about a week ago in the display settings I have noticed a huge battery improvement. My question is what is your brightness set at? 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, full? Just trying to see where most people are with there settings and how the battery has been with it. Right now I'm around 1/4 but wondering if anyone set on about 1/2 or more has noticed battery drainage. Also, will the 2.1 update fix the battery problem?
