Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Want A Longer Lasting Battery?
Oct 25, 2010
I found this in a blog, and thought I would share it with my fellow X10 users Most people complain about the battery life...well the people over at xperiax10.net have tested 2 mugen power batteries along with the stock battery. Check the link for the great results Mugen Power Xperia X10 Battery Review ? Part 2 | Xperia X10 Blog. I thought this may help some people that may want to purchase a battery that will last longer, but are unsure which to buy.

This may sound strange but a few days ago I decided to have my WIFI 'Always On', and since then my battery seems to last alot longer.I have tried switching it off for a day to see if it was just coincidence, but with WIFI turned off, my battery died alot quicker. I thought it could be that when connecting through 3G it has to connect through the mass which could be miles away, but through WIFI it only has to connect to my router which is within 5 metres at all times. Maybe I am wrong but nonetheless its great being able to have my WIFI switched on at all times without loosing battery power quicker Is this the case with anyone else?Maybe some people could try this for a day to see if it improves your battery, and if it does so for you as it does for me, then there is another option to improve your battery life

Well, like others have mentioned in this forum, my Droid has started to get noticeably better battery life. I'm definitely lasting the entire day now, and I think I could go longer if I didn't work in a building with spotty reception at best (constantly switching back and forth from 1X to 3G with 1 bar). Conceivably, I'm not installing as many applications on the phone as I did in the first 1-2 weeks of ownership (I'm on week 2.5) so I'm not hitting the battery as much. But, what I'm really wondering about is if you guys think that a background backup process is running during the first few days (and after new app installations) that eats up battery power. Once the Droid reaches a 'steady' state, the backup process isn't running anymore and the Droid can last longer on a single charge. Does this sound reasonable or am I reaching...or just plain wrong. In which case, why is the battery lasting longer into the day. From my recollection, LiIon batteries don't have a memory affect so cycling them in is unnecessary.

Recently as in the past few days I have noticed that new emails aren't giving me the status update/green flashing light as SMS messages are. The only thing I've done recently is re-flashed with the BA20 update and did a restore from Titanium backup of my apps and system info. I am getting mail, but no indicator. I have the account set to check every 5 mins and send and indication.
I sent a test email to my account and went into settings, data sync and synced gmail and the the indicator worked as it immediately found my new test email. I've received several emails in the past few days though with no indication. Any thoughts?

I have owned my x10 pro for a month or so and have downloaded various apps from the android marketplace but recently apps start to download but then I get a "download failed" message, I have tried numerous times and changed settings etc but still no joy. I think this has happened since the option to buy apps appeared on the android market, I have seen other forums with users reporting similar problems whats up? and when will the problem be fixed?

I've just started using my X2 as a music player and as expected that uses more battery than how I normally use the phone.I've plugged the phone into my laptop (with a genuine SE cable) and stopped everything I can in the task manager. The "backlight and power screen" says the phone is charging but the percentage is going down not up.The phone is just sitting there in standby with nothing running (as far as I know) - certainly no bluetooth or wireless.

Something strange happened a few days ago.I fully charged the battery in the evening. Then the next morning the phone (X 10) had switched itself off because the battery was completely empty. And I hadn't used the phone at all after charging it.I hope it's one of those things that happen only once but it was very strange how the battery could empty itself like that.Anyone have any idea about how it could happen?

I now have a problem with my battery. A few hours ago, my battery level was around 35%. A few hours later, it remained at 35% indication. Since this couldn't be correct, i restarted the phone. Now, my battery indication was 100%. False again. I turned the phone off. It wouldn't restart. I tried the 'flash device method' by holding back button and putting in computer USB. No help. I tried SEUS. After that, phone switched back on, with false battery indication back to 100%, which is impossible. I noticed that during all this 'fun stuff', my battery refuses to charge. The LED indicator remains green without flashing, the settings screen doesnt say 'charging'. I know that the phone won't charge below 95% battery. So, the phone thinks the battery is 100%, therefore won't charge, and I'm pretty screwed, especially since I fear that once my battery drops dead, the phone won't be able to charge ever since it will think its 100% full.

I just ordered the Xperia X10a. Customer Retentions gave me a great deal on it (Great deal = entirely 100% free, I figure I really couldn't beat "free" :P) and so I said "Yes, that sounds lovely" (not an exact transcript of my reaction). I now await its arrival in the mail. So I've been pretty damn excited about it. But then I did the ONE thing I told myself not to do: go trolling on the internet for all the negatives. I knew there were going to be negatives, that's the nature of smartphones, there's always going to be something if not multiple somethings. But I have to admit I was unprepared for the sheer amount of complaints over the battery life. Now I'm depressed (not really, but you know what I mean). Did I just order myself a lemon? I mean don't get me wrong, you still can't beat a free phone I suppose, but is it a free mobile phone, or a free "I need to get to a wall outlet so I can charge this thing because it discharged after only an hour and a half" phone, which isn't exactly all that mobile (ok, well it's mobile, just not mobile + useful at the same time -- I admit I was sort of hoping for the latter. Pipe dreams, what can I say).

I've been playing with my phone since the update to 2.1 and I suddenly noticed, by looking at the notification area, that my battery was getting critically low - but I hadn't had an alert, either onscreen (I don't think) or audible to tell me so Could I have switched it off accidentally, and if so, where can I switch it on again?

My X10 doesn't like charging to 100%, whenever I leave it charging for long periods of time (ex. overnight) the battery will never be at 100%, it will stop at around 95%, then it will stop charging (the icon still shows charging but the battery life slowly goes down). The only way I can get it to 100% is if I unplug the charger for a few seconds, then plug it back in, then it will charge up full.

Just curious who has it and how it's working. After the firmware (20) update and the 1800 battery, I was getting about 3 days of battery life with light use (an hour or two of wifi, couple calls, Bluetooth on the whole time) and was very happy. The last 2-3 days, my battery is draining crazy fast. After 2h45m, it went from 100% to 50% without doing anything. I checked what was draining it and 52% was display. The thing sat on the counter in sleep mode. This happened yesterday as well. I don't have any power hungry programs running an I use Juice defender and task killer regularly.

Is anyone else having serious problems with the battery life? After fully charging the phone, I can't get more than 12 hours usage out of it, even if it's on standby for 95% of the time. I'm guessing something is seriously using up the battery somewhere but I'm not sure what. I've been to Settings --> About --> Phone Usage and it says where the battery has been used, but 40%+ is on Phone idle, and 40%+ is on cell idle (I'm guessing signal), but surely this shouldn't be happening, the figures on the Sony website give standby hours in the hundreds not less than 10.

Alot of x10 users seem to be using apps that are eating at their battery, but most people do not know which apps are causing this. So I created this thread for all X10 users to list any apps that they know eat battery very quickly, thus helping others, so they can remove the app(s) and gain more battery life
