View 4 RepliesI am trying to find out how to get Maps Navigation, saying it has been released in the UK for Android phones 1.6 and above, which I think the Sony Xperia X10 is? how I can get Maps Navigation?
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to save maps on X10? Basically I would like to navigate even I do not have internet access (something like nokia maps).
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs their any way to output the voice prompts from google navigation to my normal bluetooth handsfree? It works fine for phone calls, but id like it to cut the music and prompt me for turns etc.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHi fellow Android users Im a newbie to this Android stuff! recently i purchaced the sony xperia x10a and soon after i rooted the device. Now i have all sorts of issues with my phone while on 3g I cant connect to any of my google services like mapps the store and so on, but when im connected to wifi everything seems to connect fine. And another thing i cant connect to voicemail on my phone now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing an issue where I am able to browse the internet fine but Google maps can't access the internet via my 3G connection.I have reset my phone back to its default settings but it is still having the same issue.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhich would be the best application to use for GPS navigation. I am currently using google navigator but cannot use this while driving as the screen blacks out after sometime, I need to keep unlocking the phone which is not a good idea while driving. Please let me know if this is the best application or are there any work around for this problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst of all, the problem might be only because I don't know how to set up my phone. It is my first smart / android phone. So please cut answers like "check settings or L2use your phone etc" I am trying to find an answer for the following issues:
1) My email client - default client pre-instaled is not working as expected, I set up incoming + outcoming servers correctly - confirmed by email provider as well as my operator. I can receive emails ( with 3hours automatical check I never got a single notification regarding new email ) but the problem is that I CANNOT SEND EMAILS, well I can, but they never arrive ! I have tried this several times and failed. Any tips on this one ?
2) Google Maps or any other map / navi application from market is working only when I am connected to Wi-Fi Is there any offline possibility ? like a downloadable offline map ? Also I am confused about my 3G connection is not working with this application...but more to 3G at point no. 3
3) 3G connection not working as expected - I can browse internet with it, acces my email or facebook through the browser. But when I try the facebook client pre-instaled it never connects, nor does meebo (icq), google maps or market. It says something similar to "connection timedout" or "server packet not connected". If it would be a case of wrong settings then it probably wouldn't browse the internet, would it? Otherwise I am happy with my first android phone, it has few bugs. But give me a perfect freshie on market
I am unable to update google maps and street view, my google map version is 4.1, my Android OS is still version 1.6 as my X10 have not received the upgrade notification yet
Tried to uninstall both application but was not successful, any ideas on how to update them?
Is it possible to download the maps to the phone? If yes, please let me know how.
(This can be done in Nokia 5800)
Phone: Xperia X10 mini pro
Andriod 1.6
I'm trying to use Google Maps Navigation from within my application. I've found on the net it can be done with this intent : Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse("geo:"+lat +","+lng)); where lat and lng are the latitude and longitude. Unfortunately, I get a SecurityException :'(. Can someone tell me which permission I should ask ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to show you off-road GPS navigator utility, created for active people. I like no-map Garmin GPS handy navigators, so I created software, that has most functions of such navigator. TripComputer records tracks of your trips and stores your interesting waypoints. You can view them on map view, see stats like distances, speed, time, altitute graph, bearing, azimuth, and many more. Also, if you have internet connection, you can send your selected waypoints and find waypoints sent by others,to use in you own trips.
At this time, TripComputer does not use maps - because in off-road areas, maps are useless. However, topo maps will be supported in future versions. Also, I'm working on GPX files and some geocaching support.
I just got my replacement DINC and I can't seem to find the Navigation app to put on my homescreen. I already have google maps but I had the navigation shortcut on my old DINC and that was handy to have so I can just speak my destination after opening it, and now I can't find it. I have the latest update to Google Maps.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm using the navigation feature in my galaxy s the screen will turn itself off after some time. The time it takes for the back light to turn off vary each time. The time out setting goes from like 10 seconds to 30 mins, there us no option for never. Is there a way to keep it on? Its very frustrating on long journeys when the screen keeps going off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way of changing the voice on these, the synthesised voice is AWFUL. Apart from not being able to pronounce English words correctly (E.g. Kew <queue> said as koo - I can't imagine what is must be like if I had to drive down Gloucester or Leicester) it's soooooo grating and harsh on my lugs.I've tried both English and American English settings but both are as bad as each other. Is there a download for new voices or one in the pipeline?I'm shocked this passed Google's quality control!
View 18 Replies View RelatedAny of you having a problem when you try to launch Navigation or Maps causes your phone to soft reset? I can't seem to figure it out and don't even know how to go about troubleshooting the problem.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI performed a hard-reset on my phone this evening, and I just noticed that the Google Maps Navigator program is now missing off my phone. This is a different program than Google Maps (it's far more useful for navigation purposes). My Evo isn't rooted or anything.I can't even find the program in the Android Marketplace now.The link from the google site now goes to Google Maps.

View 17 Replies View RelatedI've just had a HTC Wildfire, I can't get the navigation to work on google maps. When I open google maps, there is only a zoom in and out button. Does anyone know if it works on this version of phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes the dx have Google maps and navigation pre loaded or do you have to get from the market. Or do you have to use vz navigater.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have 2 versions it seems of Google Maps. 1 goes straight to he map after tapping the icon, 1 have a blue "Navigation" logo and load bar below it. The latter kept saying "unable to reach your destination" or something like that, so I slid it to trash. I'm trying to find out how to get Google Maps WITH turn-by-turn navigation. Ever since I moved that one icon to trash, I can't seem to get the one that has that blue Navigation load screen.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSuprised that this has not been mentioned already, but in the timesonline article re the release of the GMN they mentioned downloading the maps to your SD card. Quote: The system?s main weakness, he acknowledged, is that motorists using their Google Maps satnav in Europe will be forced to pay data roaming charges. He suggested that users on holiday download a route using wireless broadband internet before setting out, and then tourn off data roaming to avoid racking up a huge bill.
So my question is can you?if yes how, if not when can you? or is it always going to require your data signal and download as you use? Also noticed someone mention that they did not like the voice for the sat nav only for some smart arse to simply reply, change it. I have a had a look and cant see how you can, so maybe said smart arse can enlighten us all
I know HTC have added their own 'offline' maps application, which I am quite interested in, I am however wondering if plain old Google Maps, Navigation and most of all Latitude are still present / working?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am REALLY impressed with the google maps navigation on my Desire, I have a TomTom and pay for maps quarterly and it's up to date but still does not know about the 4 new roads where i live and one is a few miles long. However Google Navigation knew about the new roads (1 extra before i knew, let alone tomtom)
How can they offer such great navigation for free when i have just paid ?74 for my tom tom map update and it's still out of date.! if htc/google can fix the issue of calls via blutooth whilst using HTC desire for navigation i tell you TOMTOM are history and thats hard to say after all these years!
I went to put in an address this morning in google navigation to use for the first time and it had several addresses cached that I had searched on my laptop when looking up stuff on google maps. How do I clear these cached addresses out of my phone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedCan the Eris do the Navigation like the moto Droid does?
Found a Eris for free with new account and that fits my price range!
Moto Droid is still $120 out of my range!
I rooted my phone with Unrevoked3 the Unrevoked Forever. I used my GPS and Navigation to a friends house. It worked great! Then I flashed to the OTA official ROM. Didnt change any setting. My GPS is set on. Under the "LOCATION" setting..everything is checked.
Now I can go to Google Maps and then get my location and then search and stuff. I can even get direction to places. However, when I hit NAVIGATE...all I get is "SEARCHING FOR GPS..." And it would be stuck at the screen for the longest time without going into the Turn-by-turn direction. I turned off my GPS and turned it backed on again...NOTHING! I just adjust the setting...nothing. I even factory reset the phone and getting the same message when I use the navigation feature.
I also notice that the GPS location is not accurate at all...a lot worst than before. This is very annoying since I can use my turn by turn direction. I tried uninstall but the phone wouldnt let me. Since im rooted is there anything I can do?
I'll be gettin a Desire in July when US Cellular gets it. I've read that the Desire does not have voice search like the Nexus One and Moto Droid. Will GMN still have voice search for finding places?
