View 2 RepliesSo I made a discovery - my dialpad doesn't work during a call. Even if I bring it up via the softkeys, the numbers don't register a tap...anyone. else have this issue or is it just my phone?
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have so far found two bugs in Galaxo 1.6.3:
a) Speaker doesn't work in call (very weak). works well in ringtones etc.
b) Scrolling contacts by letter doesn't work.
Other than that this is a leap forward, especially with the overclock options!
Both bugs, as well as others, fixed in 1.6.3.1 update!
I guess my previous question wasn't clear enough ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2549585/android-failed-to-setcontentview-when-switching-to-listactivity ), so I explain as follows.
In my app I have two listactivities which uses two different listviews:
CODE:.......
As required by android, listview must have an ID which is exactly "@android:id/list". If I set the listview in both listview1 and listview2 with the same ID, then they will end up using the same format of listview, which is not what I want. But if I set one of the IDs to be sth like "@+id/listview2", android gave me the error: java.lang.RuntimeException: Your content must have a ListView whose id attribute is 'android.R.id.list'
My listview is sort of complicated, customed list with image icons and text, so in my code, I also extended the ListAdapter:
CODE:........
EVO has been nothing short of a roller-coaster ride of highs and extreme lows for me. I purchased an EVO on launch day, almost a month ago now. The second day of owning the phone I discovered that my front-facing camera didn't work. I had to wait three weeks (for more to get in stock at Best Buy) to get it exchanged for a new one.
Now, after not even having the new phone for a week... IT IS BRICKED! I downloaded and installed the OTA update. Then, apparently like many others, I accidentally re-installed the same update. I didn't even mean to. Just out of habit of checking for updates I made the mistake. Now, I am bricked.
After reading the forum posts about the bricking issue, (after mine was bricked ) I immediately went back to Best Buy to do ANOTHER exchange. Of course, they don't have any in stock and none of the other stores within a 45 mile radius do either. That is 12 stores total. I called every single one of them myself just to double-check that the Best Buy employee actually called them.
Now, I am on a waiting list... AGAIN! I desperately want to love the EVO. This is the most excited I've ever been about a cell phone, but it's been such an emotional nightmare for me. I don't think my high blood pressure can take any more of this bull sh*t! I have never owned an HTC device before. I have always heard that they, well... suck. Now, even though I want so much to love the EVO, I am starting to believe they do suck as a company. People on here will say "Oh, you get these sort of issues with any device launch." "It's new technology, and comes with the territory." Well, I say BOLLOCKS! Bricking a phone for accidentally installing an update that's already been applied? REALLY?
Sprint is about to be flooded with calls from pissed off people like me who aren't stupid people who made this mistake. Not everyone checks internet forums for every device they own before doing anything to those devices. This is a massive failure in programming and is about to cost them a ton of money. Not to mention the negative word of mouth.
I don't want to give up on EVO, but somebody please tell me what I am supposed to do? If a new one isn't in my hands by Friday, I have no choice but to go to Best Buy and get my money back. I will just wait for the next best thing to come out, that ISN'T AN HTC.

I plan to go to verizon later today to see what they say, but i anticipate little to no help from them... so i decided to post this here. i tried the forced update to the stock 2.2 a couple weeks ago to no avail... kept getting this error every time i tried:

Installation Aborted, so i decided to wait for the OTA update... had it waiting for me when i got up this morning... pressed install and let it go to work... came back 20 minutes later and it was still on the triangle w/ exclamation logo... so i let it sit longer... came back yet another 10 minutes later it was on the Motorola logo and just stayed there for about 5+ minutes (i let it sit for awhile to make sure it was done) so i took out the battery and restarted... and no update still "2.1 Update 1" now what do i do?
I have heard many many many references to 'fastboot' it's obvious it's on the phone, but every time I look at a rooting or firmware update guide, it seems to imply that it's part of the android sdk. 'just go into the tools folder then run fastboot command filename.ext'But fastboot.exe, fastboot.com, fastboot.bat, fastboot.msi. any thing that would cause a command called 'fastboot' to run out of that folder does not exist in the android sdk.So where is fastboot coming from on the pc side of things. where specifically is this component or program gained? should it be in the sdk? I've installed every release of it, it's not in any of them. This lack of 'fastboot' on the pc side of things is the only thing that's stopping me at this point.Where is this fabled, and seemingly non existent fastboot application?

I can't see it on the market and I haven't been able to find an .apk that would work. I'm on IL3. If you're on the same firmware, please elaborate how you got VS to work.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI previously had my wireless working just fine at home but since I changed my subnet, (new dhcp and dns server installed), the wireless will no longer work. I went from 192.168.0.x to 192.168.10.x.
The wireless seems to connect but then when you browse it will not find anything. It is like it still has an old IP and doesn't know the new route and DG. I did "forget network" and reentered the key etc., but no success. Is there a way to investigate exactly what settings it has or reset everything so it has no idea about old network settings?
I have not seen this mentioned but I have trouble with it every day. When I make a call the proximity sensor does not always work. During the call my cheek will pull up the keypad and then start dialing. Sometimes this will happen even if I remember to hit the sleep/wake button as I start the call (to turn off the screen). Very embarrassing to explain to the other party why your phone is touch-toning over their conversation. Does this happen to everyone or just me? It did it with the I4 and now the K4 firmware.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have received my i7500 today and flashed Galaxo 1.6.2 right away. I actually thought it would add home screens to the device (read somewhere that it should have 10) but I can only access 3 (the middle one and one to the left/right) after flashing it - and I am sure Galaxo works fine as the phone information confirm that I am on JC6 with Galaxo.
Any idea how I get the remaining home screens to work?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a GT-I7500 and am coming from an HTC Sapphire. I was able to root the I7500 after following instructions scattered all around the net and am running on 1.6.
There is an application I use called "work mail" which comes on the HTC Roms which is basically an exchange server application allowing me to check and send email on an exchange server.
I tried to installed the mail.apk from the sapphire roms I use and after enabling non-market applications to be installed, I tried to run the installer but it would fail saying "Work Email could not be installed on this phone".
Anyone know of any way to integrate the "work mail" application into a ROM? Or of any way to get this installed on the i7500?

The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSorry if this thread seems inconsequential but I have been rendering myselves sleepless nights over the past couple of days ( and nights ) due to my inability to choose between the above two said android phones. I like the i5700 for its zippy 800 MHz processor and that its got the 2.1 update. I like the i7500 for its 5 MP camera and flash + a larger screen to play with I would have gone in for the i7500 but have been hearing about Samsung deciding against not updating it to version 2.1 which can off course be done taking the un-official channel. Moreover the 528 Mhz processor is certainly lagging.
But still I see people in here Going after the i7500 .... Adding to it there is more threads and discussions going around on the i7500 as compared to the i5700. Am I missing something in the i7500 or is it just that i am a stupid newbie ... I have gone through many many pages of information on this thread before posting this query.
Would you have bought a i5700, if you hadn't bought a i7500?
