The display of my Samsung Galaxy i7500 has failed after I accidentally dropped the phone on a table! The phone can however receive calls.
I would like to clear/reset the data before I hand over the phone for repair.
Is there any way I can do a reset (clear all SMS, application data, cache, etc.) from a PC connected to the mobile via USB? Is there a key combination which would achieve the same?

I accidentally put my phone in another language, and in the process reset factory settings. Now, my phone wont connect to the internet. WTF?! What did I do!? My SIM card was in when I did this.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy GT-17500L (its a Bell Canada phone). After purchasing the phone (which was originally unlocked) I bought a Solo mobile sim-card, which was needed in order to use the phone on my Solo monthly plan. Everything was working fine until I decided to try and update the firmware from 1.5 to 1.6; unfortunately, like a few others from Canada, I didn't properly read the guide and after the upgrade, the phone was "re-locked" and wasn't accepting my sim-card. After going through the guide posted on Pg.4 here (Bell Canada users and Brazilian Users - Galaxy 7500L (notice the L)), with the help of Rasta-Man FB posts and others, I was able to get my phone back to the original firmware, but now I'm having reception issues. The phone will at times pick up the Solo Netowork (I'm still using the original solo sim card), but then drop it after 10 minutes and just say there is no service. When I search for networks, it recognizes the Solo one (I'm guessing b/c of the S.C) but it isn't able to connect.

I'm using the phone in Israel, provider is Cellcom, phone is unlocked.
Problem:
When trying to connect the phone to the netbook I attempted BT and USB - both failed.
In BT, the PC Studio finds the Galaxy and prompts to type a PIN to authenticate. I type 1234, hit 'Send'. On the handset I get a message saying another device is trying to connect, but with a random 6-digits PIN, which I cannot edit - hence pairing fails. I tried vice-versa (handset first, type the 6-digits to the PC Studio, hit 'Send') - same results.
In USB mode, PC Studio is always 'Not connected', even though the phone is connected, in Data Transfer mode. I also tried just connecting the USB without 'Data transfer' - same result. No connection.
I tried pairing Nokia E71 with the Galaxy, entered at the E71 1234 as the pin, then 1234 at the Galaxy - and it worked fine. Any idea how to fix the PC Studio problem? I want to sync my Contacts/Calendar from Outlook, and keeping them there (not importing all my data to Google..)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have rooted my phone and have now the recovery mode from HD blog. It's was working fine. So I tried to get the Galaxhero ROM installed. I did the following steps:
1) Reboot in recovery mode (Volume down + both Call buttons) and choose "Nandroid backup" to save a backup of your current ROM just in case.
2) Backup G apps
3) Then, choose "Wipe data/factory reset". The phone will reboot in recovery mode again.
4) Choose "Apply sdcard:update.zip" (second menu entry on the recovery screen)
5) Restore Google applications ("Restore G.Apps")
6) "Enable root (su)".
But then enable root failed! Anyway I went on further with reboot system. It rebooted till the "android HD logo" showed up and then suddenly the screen went off and it seemed like my phone went off. So I went back to the recovery mode and did the following steps:
Wipe data
Restore backup
Restore G apps
Enable root SU, but again enable su failed!!
Again I choose reboot system, and when the reboot came again to the "android HD logo". It stuck there and stayed looping.
First, why do I still see the android HD logo again because I did a wipe!
Second, How can I get my phone working again!
While I wait for 2.0 to be released for this phone, officially or not, I've decided I'm giving it to my brother, and I'm going to play with a Milestone. Anyway before I hand it over to him, I obv want to delete all my email account etc. info off the phone. I couldn't really be bothered re-flashing it, so does anybody know whether the factory data reset works on Galaxhero, and does it just leave you with a blank galaxhero slate?

I know I can use Odin again if I want to restore the CSC, I'm just not sure which CSC I need- does it have to match the firmware version, or is the CSC for a given carrier the same regardless of the firmware?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using Sygic Mobile Maps 10 on my N1 and now got if for my girlfriend's i7500. It installed fine but when I start it up and try to activate a map, the screen where it should show the device id is just empty (it shows a -). If I go to the About screen, it also doesn't show a device id. I contacted Sygic already but they don't know anything about the i7500 and Google doesn't really help either. My current guess is that it doesn't work with the internal memory card as the device id is apparently generated based on the sd card's serial number (Sygic used to distribute the software pre-installed on a sd card). So maybe the software can't recognise the serial number of the internal card and hence can't generate a device id...but that's just my guess. I just want to avoid wasting money to buy a microsd to install it on there if it turns out that the app is just not working with the i7500 for other reasons...

Alright, so here's what's going on. Recently, something happened and the tablet asked to do a hard factory reset. It stopped at a screen that terminated in red text "Verified Failed". It is a stock device. The only thing different is that it was running Nova Launcher. No rooting, nothing else. Nearly all of the posts I have found assume that some level of rooting has occurred, and the rest are unresolved. I have nothing, not even any tools, because almost all of the links to tool downloads terminate in dead dropbox links or uncomfortably sketchy download sites.
Does anyone know why in wireless & network settings it says connection failed under mobile networks?It'l connect to 3g for a bit but then come up with connection failed?

The Samsung i7500 Galaxy is, except the support from Samsung itself, a great Android smartphone with a very good (the best?) price for value. It's with 11,9mm the second slimmest Android phone after Nexus One with 11,5mm (right?) and has unlike the HTC phones a flash light and build in storage of 8GB. On most sites the Galaxy is (one of) the cheapest Android phones, I wonder if it's because Samsung is cheaper or HTC/Motorola more expensive by itself?
I personally would compare the i7500 with the HTC Hero, although in my opinion the i7500 still has a much better price for value.
Is it even possible to define if and which Android phone is a low, middle, or high-end smartphone?
Sure, it also depends for what purposes you bought and use your phone, but I still wonder were the i7500 would be if 1=low and 10=high end Android phone, and if there even is a number 10? I also think that the D-Pad is a big plus and not a minus in comparison to the scroll ball from HTC.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSorry if this thread seems inconsequential but I have been rendering myselves sleepless nights over the past couple of days ( and nights ) due to my inability to choose between the above two said android phones. I like the i5700 for its zippy 800 MHz processor and that its got the 2.1 update. I like the i7500 for its 5 MP camera and flash + a larger screen to play with I would have gone in for the i7500 but have been hearing about Samsung deciding against not updating it to version 2.1 which can off course be done taking the un-official channel. Moreover the 528 Mhz processor is certainly lagging.
But still I see people in here Going after the i7500 .... Adding to it there is more threads and discussions going around on the i7500 as compared to the i5700. Am I missing something in the i7500 or is it just that i am a stupid newbie ... I have gone through many many pages of information on this thread before posting this query.

View 5 Replies View RelatedLong time Droid user, brand new to the Fascinate Forum. I just bought my wife a Samsung Fascinate and I have to say the thing is absolutely phenomenal! It makes my Motorola Droid look like a 1990's flip phone!! Except for one problem the darned thing has been automatically spontaneously performing a factory reset / hard reset on itself.And it is happening at completely random times. You're sitting there playing a game, you're reading your e-mail or you just pushed the screen ON / power button to wake the phone up and unlock it and then, all of a sudden The phone reboots to the black and white Samsung startup screen, then recovery pops up and yellow writing appears that says "Formatting FOTA:", "Formatting DATA:", "Formatting CACHE:". Then the phone reboots again and comes up like you just pulled it out of the box; a full factory reset / hard reset. The contents of the SD card are thankfully fine.Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to turn on some sort of logging so that maybe I can figure out what causes it? This is now the second phone that this is happening to. We took the first phone back to Verizon the very same day we got it and they swapped it out right there for another brand new one. The second phone behaved perfectly for three whole days before it went and wiped itself. We thought for sure that the problem was with the first phone, but now it is happening with the second phone.I am going to start from scratch again, adding one app at a time making sure the thing continues to work.
