I have a Samsung galaxy s vibrant.. One phone drops the area code from one of my contacts when i select them from my contact list or try to respond to texts they send.... I therefore have to enter their number manually everytime i want to respond or start a conversation.... this happens with no other contact......

For those of you who have and use Google Voice on your Droid. Is there any way to use GV when you manually enter a number? I get the choice to use GV from my contacts list but not when I manually enter the number. Has anyone else had this issue? Please only respond if you have and use Google Voice. I'm sorry I don't have any invites so please don't ask.I also appologize if that sounds harsh but I've read through some of the other GV posts and no one really seems to answer the question.

However when I can't make calls or send text messages, but people can call me, on top of this, when I turn on the phone it says enter unlock pin code, what is this code, how do I fix it?
View 11 Replies View RelatedIt's clear I'm not alone, when it comes to the loss of network comms on my Moment. I've just resigned myself to the fact that I have to get used to power-cycling the phone when things go bad, and hope against hope that 2.1 is our miracle cure.
But I'm looking for a quicker way to restart my phone, instead of doing the off/on thing. When the phone stops being a phone, the process "com.samsung.internal" has likely crashed. I found where I can force-stop that application (and just about anything else), but I haven't seen where it's stored, in an attempt to manually start it. Can it be done? If so, how?
After awhile of heavy SMS use if i open a message and go to type to respond the words i type do not show up on the screen. Id i minimize the keyboard it shows. If I expand it they go away.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought myself a brand-spanking new Samsung Vibrant from T-mobile the other day. I was then informed that the JI6 update was being pushed out via OTA. Only problem is, my plan was to use this thing via wifi only (I bought a 1 month voice-only Flex Plan to activate it). According to T-mobile, if I want any updates, my only choice is to switch over to a monthly data plan (big old $70 a month bill). So I turn to the experts on these forums... is there a way to install these updates manually over wifi? Or is it time to take the phone back?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Droid 2, and have been liking it, till today, when I had to manually enter a contact on the phone. I have the latest OTA upgrade.
I found two problems:
(1) Once the Name field goes beyond a certain length, Contacts just edits one entry. I did not attempt a bunch of edits to figure out where the field length trigger for this occurs. However it occurred with two different contacts I wanted to enter, "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Wake Forest" & "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Raleigh". I could start a new contact, but one would just overwrite the other when I clicked save (including the name).
(2) When you task switch with the home button to the browser with a new contact opened, with information in it, and you then switch back to the Contacts app, your new entry is gone!
I won't compare it to other phones, but I am looking a solution or a confirmation this problem has existed forever, and google doesn't plan to fix it.

This is probably a dumb question but this is my first phone that uses a sim card. If I go to settings and status for phone number it says unknown. On my previous Android phone with verizon it knew my number. The Google voice app doesn't seem to be able to read my number either but the phone itself seems to work fine.

View 5 Replies View RelatedCan anyone with a Vibrant change their voicemail number in settings->call settings->voicemail->voicemail? I'd like to change it so when I speed dial 1 it goes to google voice. I called TM and they said I should be able to change that setting. I installed a new SIM, and I removed TM's visual voice mail. Out of ideas here. I'd at least like to know if it's like this on all Vibrants or just some Vibrants.

Just curious because I was playing around with this phone today. Noticed it kept going from max 1 bar to zero bars inside the t-mobile store, while my t-mobile device had full bars.

guess what I picked up first myself, is popping up all over the net and being confirmed.. seems like this phone has iphone issues. here is a galaxy with similar problem this problem is popping up everywhere online.

I installed a custom ROM on my Samsung vibrant. after the installation was complete the phone restarted, but it would freeze on "vibrant" and it wont start up. I tried removing the battery and putting it back in. I was able to get the phone back to recovery mode. I can reinstall the same update.zip file, but the phone would still not start up. is there a way to access the phone memory to replace the update.zip file so the phone would work again? Or anything else I can do ?

I figured it was just because of static electricity, but as I went to pick it up a few minutes ago it wouldn't stop. It shocked me about 3-4 times very rapidly. Is this normal? It is plugged in via USB to my laptop. I'm still within the 2 week period, so I can go back and return it to Wal-Mart, but this is my 2nd vibrant I would be exchanging!

Apparently, friends can see that I'm logged onto my Gmail and message me, which pops up like a text message. But I can't figure out how to see whose online or start a conversation.
So every time someone calls me when it gets to the point where they should be able to leave a voicemail, it asks them to enter a subscriber number. I know that at that point they need to enter my phone number to leave a VM, but is there anyway to change that so they dont need to enter my number again? Sprint support cant figure it out either...

On a specific contact person that is categorized under the "phone" (not google, exchange or anything else) listing, is it possible to enter more than one cell phone number for instance??
On the other hand, it seems to be possible to enter more than 1 home phone number for instance - also more than 1 work phone number....
Is this correct? Is there any way around this other than entering a new entry for this person with just the missing cell phone number?
Is there a way to Manually start a task with Tasker? Scenario being, I have a 2 Profiles setup. One launches the "discreet" task (when I'm at work) and the other launches "Silent" task (that runs at night). But there are occasions when I went to manually start the Tasks (Silent when I'm at the Cinema, for example). I've tried creating the Widgets, but they don't do anything when pressed. I'm happy to go into the app to select the task, but cant find any options to do so.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to dial a number in Germany which would be +49... now since i can't make that call with my verizon plan i bought a CBS phone card. so i hit 1 for English, 2 for international etc. then when i need to enter the number, on my old phone it worked fine by holding 0 for a while to dial +49. but for some reason that doesn't work with the droid. any ideas?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI like many of you have been waiting for months to get my hands on the epic. However when I bought one, the battery life was insanely unusable even after 4-5 days. So I finally returned it for a new on. Well find out over the next few days how the battery performs. But the new one has capacitive buttons that barely respond to touch. Particularly the home key and menu key. I've read of a bunch of people having similar problems. Are we just a few unlucky people who happen to be on the forums, or is Samsung having serious Quality control issues here?

I dropped my phone and the screen won't turn on and doesn't respond to touch.The insurance company is picking it up tomorrow (*hence the urgency) and would like to get some stuff off it. Most stuff is on my exsd, so I'm not too worried if I have to wipe it, but would prefer only to wipe it once everything is off. I'm rooted and have a custom stock based rom and cwm installed.
Is there any way of doing this? I have the lock pattern enabled so when I plug it in nothing shows up.
If not, then how would I wipe it?

1. I plan on going South Africa. According to this site, both the phone and 3g should work perfectly right? GSM World Coverage Map- GSM Country List by frequency bands
2. I have seen an app to unlock the Vibrant. It is by DaGentooBoy from XDA. Its called Samsung Galxy S Unlock. Would it be better for me to use this app or to just request T-Mobile to give me the unlock code. Are there any pros or cons for using either method.
3. If the OTA update or Froyo don't come out before I am gone, will I be able to get an OTA over wifi while I am in South Africa. Just to clarify, I will be using a local sim over there. I will discontinue from tmobile when I leave the US I know nothing of rooting. This is my first smartphone, so if possible I would be hesitant of doing any updates via the computer that requires me to loose all my info. I have too many apps and saved games and settings to download again so its just a scary thought of loosing it all.
4. Will google navigation work overseas. I have heard people say yes and no. I am hesitant to buy apps like co-pilot as they cost a lot and have mixed reviews, so I wanted to find out about this.
I have a problem in my phone for a long time now. while I'm talking on the phone, i cant press the tones (can't press the dialer). means i cant hear my voice messages, call any support service (can't choose any option in the menus). anyone familiar with that problem? any clue what can cause it? i was able to press the tones when i bought the phone, but from some point in time i couldn't anymore.

Asphalt HD from Gameloft. I really love this racing game. Its on par with racing games made for the psp. I hope they release an expansion pack with more cars/tracks/events. N.O.V.A from Gameloft. A pretty good fps. It kinda reminds me of halo. I wish there was more weapons and enemies/bosses. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Dungeon Hunter from Gameloft. A standard rpg. Im playing this right now. my thoughts so far is that its a pretty good rpg for a phone but pales in comparison to handheld console rpgs. note: you cant get this game from the market, you have to buy from the gameloft website. Hero of Sparta from gameloft. its a hack n slash game. this is the only game from the gameloft hd series that I didnt like so far. I havent tried the other 5 HD games from gameloft but I plan on doing so.
I really want to try all the high end games for android so please any games you have found
