I followed the instructions on the how-to root sticky, but when I power down the device and then hold vol down+up simultaneously and power it back up to get to recovery mode (to root), it boots normally. I've done this 7 times now, with two fingers holding down the volume buttons (one each) and then pressing the power button until the device shows signs of life.

After using oclf & adding i think it was zombie kernel. Phone. Got stuck on vibrant logo. Screen.when using 3 buttons to go to recovery only option are:reboot system, reinstall packages,delete all user data,deleUte cache data.trierd all. & still have problem.now what?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Vibrant. The issue all started when I tried to install the 1.2ghz OC rom onto my phone. I had rommanager installed, and attempted to run it off the SD card, but when my phone booted up it had lost my applications, everything.
The problem I'm running into now is that the phone seems to be unable to use its mass storage. Every time I attempt to reinstall an application from the market it says it doesn't have enough memory. Under settings it says "unavailable" for the internal mass storage.
I tried using the volume buttons and power button to enter recovery/dl mode but every time I do I cannot make selections. If I use the power button to try to select it does nothing. In fact the "up" volume button makes it go down, and the other "down" button also doesn't do anything.
Since I have no applications I can't use clockwork recovery, even though I know I have one. Also, Odin is unable to connect to the phone, so I can't reload factory. Kies also doesn't recognize the phone.
It also won't even recognize the SIM card, says it has no reception when it clearly does.
I just recently came upon my new samsung moment, so i wanted to go ahead and root it after having my rooted hero with froyo, and i loved it.
Anywhos, i got to the point where I update it using the files i got off of the tutorial, and now im at the point where i need to boot into recovery in order to flash the phone with my new rom. However, here lies the issue. My phone is turned off, and i hold down volume down, and both the call and end buttons simultaneously. It starts to load up, but then it just basically loads into my phone like it normally should. I hold the buttons down all the way through this time, and same deal.. so what am i doing wrong here?
Seems I can't boot to recovery mode on my BH2. I've been all over the place looking for the exact method for booting to recovery, and I've seen all sorts of variations. The most common methods are to hold BOTH the Home and Power/End keys at the same time and continue holding them until you reach recovery, or to hold ONLY the Home key and continue to hold it after you have pressed the Power/End key to power up the device. I've also seen a couple people suggest that you should hold the Camera key while powering up. Suffice it to say, NONE of the methods I've tried have worked. When holding the Home key during power up, my phone hangs at the Android boot screen for about 2 minutes, but then continues to boot normally. Every other attempt to boot to recovery have resulted in a normal boot.

To get it hot to the touch.So I tried once again today, and what a shock, I was able to get in recovery mode via the 3 button - WITH BATTERY OUT, HOLD VOL UP + HOME BUTTON + POWER BUTTON, then insert battery, and let go of the power button once your phone turns on.Took 3 seconds to set everything to restore, in the recovery mode.It worked for me. If you are going to try this, maybe try with a hair blow dryer first.dont have one of those, so I couldnt, to be safer.I will not be held accountable for any damage you do if you leave it in too long or damage your phone in any way.This worked for me. Im happy I got it working.The only thing which worries me now What if heat or cold can cause your phone to brick itself? phone bricked itself out of nowhere, no idea how.

When I turn my phone off and try to boot into recovery mode by holding down the Home and Power buttons, I get a picture of a phone with a little red exclamation point beside it that will not go away. I eventually had to take the battery out of the back of it to get it to go away. Put the battery back in and it works fine but I would really like to install that Rom.
I have a Sprint Hero that I have rooted and in trying to do a Nandroid backup have found myself unable to get to recovery mode. I hold Home, hit power and the system hangs on the initial HTC screen until I remove the battery. After that the phone will boot into the regular OS just fine.

I have an Android tablet (Diablotek D2-721, very cheap I know, but it serves its purpose) that is stuck in a boot loop. I installed ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0 using ROM Manager and since then I haven't been able to boot into recovery mode. I can get into bootloader but not recovery. I've tried powering it on with the volume button down, using the recovery reboot option, and tried using "Reboot into Recovery" in ROM Manager, but I keep seeing the same thing. It boots with the HTC logo then goes black then at this point i believe I should be seeing recovery mode but instead I see the HTC logo again and then it just boots like normal. Is there something I did wrong and is there a way to get recovery to work again?

I then broke out oden, and long story short I soft bricked it. I now actually got my phone to let me restore my backup that I did before I updated it, and it completed successfully. But it only boots into recovery mode. What I can do?

I used my galaxy ace (I had the low memory icon) when playstore has updated an application, then suddenly all my applications are set to "force stop" including Holo launcher, so I rebooted, but the I had teh cyanogenmod 7 icon repeat (bootloops) I cann't access to the recovery mode (I had RAMDUMP mode (ARM9 mode)) I can access to the "downloading" mode so I wanted to flash a stock rom (even three in fact) with odin multidownload 4.38 but nothing happens when Odin has restarted my phone, I had the little android image that works then a message like: "E: failed to mount storage (invalid argument)" and the phone started to reboot loop I've tried dozens of manipulations unsuccessfully kies does not see my phone I do not know what to do,
PS: I've tried all the manipulations removing the battery / SIM card and sd waited 5 minutes, I was able to put the phone in Emergency Mode DLOAD but it nothing happens the only real thing that still works is the "Downloading "mode , but I think my recovery mode was crushed and I cann't access it even when I can flash with odin I always have the problem of "E: failed to mount storage" (the same style as him [URL]...
I've been reading and I've downloaded the ROM Manager from the Marketplace. I've also downloaded a ROM to install. I have tried to boot my phone into recovery mode (pressing X while powering back on) and all I get to is a screen with the exclamation mark and a phone under it.

I am using sony ericsson x10 mini mobile phone. I want to install custom ROM cyanogen 7 gingerbread. But I am facing problem while booting this in recovery mode. I have tried the following.
downloaded custom rom for xperia mini and copied in to sdcard
installed ROM Manager Premium (not purchased, downloaded from google search and it is working fine)
installed root explorer S1 tool
Rooted from superoneclick
downloaded xRecovery and copied into system folder
Flash tool - showing bootloader unlocked, and dont know how to flash phone.
msm7227 - used for unlock boot loader
I have rooted my phone successfully, all above things did successfully, when i am trying to boot my phone into recovery mode then it is not boot in that mode instead it boots in normal mode. What I am doing when phone starts and sonyericcson appears then i continuously pushing button many times but it boots in normal mode. So what I have to do to boot my phone in recovery mode. I have read and tried many guides in your forum but nothing works.
I've bought a Huawei u8860 today but when I try to switch on, it goes automatically ( without push any other buttons ) in recovery mode.
I've tried to wipe and format cache, but once rebooted it goes always in recovery mode. The phone is brand new, unboxed today from a box with security stickers.
I've tried to update software from sdcard with its original firmware but it fails with this error:

I don't think it is a software problem, but an hardware error.
