Mar 25, 2010Hey everyone. Does anyone know of an app that lets you change the transparancy of your on screen icons and has anyone figured out a way to delete shortcuts inside of the bookmark widget? I'm on 2.1 and updated to the newest leaked rom yesterday. I still use the standard browser as well as Xscope and I liked the fact I could edit these but I can't seem to find a way to do that on the newest 2.1.

May 7, 2014I have a Samsung galaxy S3 which is about a year old. About 2 days go i tried updating my software to Kit.Kat. It said update is complete but it just needs to reboot so i said yes. Now when i switch my phone on it turns on and when it gets to the Samsung logo it just flashes and stays on the Samsung logo. I have tried connecting my phone to kies but i have had a problem with my phone connecting to the computer. I also don't want to restore to factory default because i don't want to loose all my photos.

Mar 14, 2013I am using Samsung i699 (android 2.3.6) in China, They preinstalled so many suck apps. After I rooted and removed a bunch of apps including system files, and then every time when I power on, it displays "Low Storage Space there is not enough storage space available to complete this action, clear some space and try again" Before remove some system files such as applications provider, kies, kies wifi and etc... it never had any problems. So here I have a question:
I want to restore factory default. When I press "restore factory default", it just restores my settings, or restores all the apps and systems files I deleted?

Jun 5, 2010Rooted my phone two days ago worked very nicely was easy to do and made my phone easier to use. Today it was acting a little buggy from a theme I installed so I decided to do a restore on it. Now it turns on an as soon as it gets to the sprint screen it goes back. I think it's still on but nothing responds I tried restoring it again but no results. Can anyone help?

Jan 9, 2014I have the Chrome bookmarks widget on my homescreen, and the first spot is taken up by the "Mobile Bookmarks" folder (see screenshot). This is really annoying. When I first started using the widget, this was not the case, after a while it just appeared there.
Anyway to avoid this? Maybe even a way to change the order of the bookmarks?
If not, is there any way to remove the "Mobile bookmarks", "Desktop bookmarks" and "Other bookmarks" folders in Chrome so I could just have my bookmarks in one place?
I'm on a Sony Xperia Z1, Android 4.3, not rooted.

Jan 30, 2010My Facebook bookmark on my default browser doesnt load correctly. It loads what was on my page hours ago. Then I hit home and it loads what was on it a minute after that, and again. I have to hit home (Facebook home) about 10 times before it gets up to date. Its pretty annoying.

I recently installed a (paid) homescreen app called GDE from a guy at XDA developers. It's wonderful, and gives me a choice of the number of homescreens, transition type, and whether the sequence of screens loops or not (appears endless) It works well and is very smooth. I use the box transitions and it's very impressive.
Back to the icons, which will be of interest to anyone who replaces their homescreen app. When I installed GDE, I was basically given 5 blank homescreens. All my shortcuts were gone and had to be re-installed.
Not so bad, because it gave me a chance to re-organize my device. But, I couldn't find my CNN, ESPN, Facebook icons. That's when I started this post, because I thought they were apps, they are not, they are browser favorite shortcuts on the homescreen.
So, if any of you replace your home app and want to restore these, just open your browser, go to favorites, and long hold on the shortcuts you want to install on home.

Nov 18, 2010It seems like almost every time that I unlock my phone, one of the icons on the home screen is selected (long press, like I was intending to move it or trash it). Using Launcher Pro, if that might be causing it. I don't think it was doing this before the last Sprint update, but don't know if that's the cause either.

Nov 30, 2009What I am needing is some ring tones other than the default ones that come on this phone. I have found a few on the Market but so far none are filling the bill as to what I need. Basically I have a little hearing loss so prefer basic tone type ring tones rather than a tune or clip from some song or movie. Funny but I kinda like the ring tone of the old standard phone ringer. Can someone suggest something on the Market or some other alternative? I suppose it's as easy as downloading anything using my computer and sending it to my cell phone and using it from there.

Jul 16, 2010My particular problem is that the phone is answering with a voice command that tells you who is calling if the caller is in my contacts list. I tried to find it listed in the list for ringtones to no avail. I've also checked a couple of different options but the phone is set to the voice announcement by default. Please help. My phone is rooted (I think), but currently I am on a looong learning curve to be able to troubleshoot these things on my own.

Dec 17, 2009maybe it's because I'm spoiled with my Hero. My wife just got the moment and I really dislike the SMS UI. Its all black, and just says ME: Other Persons name: no avatar etc. Anyone know if theres a way to show the contacts avatar/image just like the Hero? I hate to install handcent for functionality that basically already exists by default. I Know it doesnt have popup's etc like handcent, but unless theres another app out there? I just hate to install app after app taking up memory.

Problem I'm having is that the default music player app likes to compete with it. When I use Bluetooth (Ford Sync) the music player app likes to start automatically.

Mar 24, 2010I really like this phone a whole lot better with the exception of one thing. The default calendar theme sucks. With regards to the apps out there that allow you to theme, which ones do not drain the battery if any? I am using this for work so I am trying to get something that looks pleasing to eye while at the same time not degrading my battery life. Any suggestions? I sure do like the keyboard better than the Hero's. Even after calibrating the Hero KB this one is much more responsive and I have fewer errors typing.

May 3, 2010I've found some other threads discussing the fact that the default shortcut for Facebook is actually just a shortcut to a browser bookmark for Facebook. If you delete this shortcut, you can re-create it, but it has a boring red flag icon. With a custom bookmark app, you could restore this original icon... but only if you know where to find it. Where is that icon stored? It has to be somewhere on the root of the phone. Using root explorer, I can't find it. I'm guessing it's stored inside of an archive somewhere. Any ways to search more thoroughly?
Related: can I somehow use my PC (Windows explorer) to browse the root of the phone?
Or, can I find it somewhere in the original .tar file containing the flash update for the phone?
(running rooted 2.1 DD10, FWIW).

Apr 3, 2010I use dxTop as a home screen replacement, but also have Open Home, and GDE installed as well. Every now and then, maybe once every other day?, when I press Home, it asks me which home screen app to use. I always click on the one I want (dxTop) and check the box that says use as default. It remembers it for a while, but it'll forget again.

Dec 3, 2009I have loaded the Dolphin browser as my default browser and the google homepage is stuck in Spanish. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times and nothing changes. The only way to view it in english is to scroll down to the bottom of the google homepage and press "Google.com in in English". Once I close the browser and come back its back in Spanish.
