Sprint HTC Hero : Get Swype Beta Even Though It's Closed?
Jul 20, 2010I just got a Sprint Hero and I'm coming from Palm phones that always had physical keyboards. At this point in time--I've had it for about a week--it's frustrating beyond words to peck away on the virtual keyboard, slow as molasses, with about as much accuracy as a two year old trying to spell.
I know Swype would help immensely. Is there any way to get it even though the beta is closed? Would begging and bribing the makers of swype help? I really want a virtual keyboard for a number of reasons, but the stock keyboard on the Hero is terrible.
Samsung Moment : Successfully Use Swype Beta On Stock 2.1?
Jul 28, 2010I was using Swype before the public beta was released. Registered, downloaded and installed Swype, public beta version.
It is not stable on my phone. As recommended by developers, I have deleted the app, the installer, and re-did the whole thing but it still does not work. Every time after I use the phone -- get a call or make a call -- Swype stops working. At the end of swyping a word, it just gives a visual and audio notification, like it used to when the license expired on the pre-beta version.
Any one having similar experience or successfully using Swype beta on Samsung Moment with stock Android 2.1?

Sep 12, 2010How do I update swype to the latest beta? It says I need to remove the current version first but since it is included in the X, how do I do this? Do I just rename or delete the apk with root explorer?

Jun 8, 2010I just got the email saying that there was an update for the swype beta. In order to update you have to uninstall the installer and the keyboard. I am on bhmans take 5 so i removed it from system/app and wiped the data then attempted to install it and it wont even open it just force closes constantly.

Jan 16, 2010I am currently running CL14 stock with Open Home and I wanted to let you security conscious folks know about a security issue I discovered. I hit the end button and pulled up my phones lock screen. Decided to test the new emergency dialer and when I pulled that up Open Home had force closed. When I hit end it returned me to the main screen w/o me entering my combination. I assume this could happen with any force closed app so although it's a rare issue that something FCs in the background it is possible and is a security issue. Just a heads up.

Jul 19, 2010Would this be a ROM issue? Maybe an issue with Launcher Pro Beta? When I hit my home screen button, it takes a few seconds for my shortcuts and widgets to load. I really like LPB but am not liking how long it's taking to load. I set it as my only launcher in my ROM that I made so I can't go into another launcher and see if it's slow, does anyone think that could be the culprit?

One from somewhere else but all it did was FC and another posted here but the resolution wasn't right so all it did was press the wrong keys. Sep 19, 2010This is for those of you that were using the one build of the Swype Beta that actually worked for the Ally (up until last week, when it expired).There is a new beta floating around (version 2.4.44.10912.t100), however, when installed on the Ally, it instantly locks you out with a message that this version wasn't made for your phone.I read somewhere that in the past, you could fix this by modifying the Swype apk to contain an older "license.dat" file (such as the one from the open beta). With this new version however, Swype will FC instantly if it was installed from a resigned apk.Out of curiosity, I extracted the files from within "classes.dex" and started poking around. Apr 2, 2010I recently complained about keyboard lag on the latest leaked version of 2.1. I remember loving the Swype beta on 1.5 and decided to go ahead and re-download the installer. Everything installed nicely and i switched my input method to Swype. To my dismay, after swyping my first word, Swype displayed a pop up saying that "this swype package you installed is not configured for this device" and then refused to register any of my swyped words. This Eris keyboard business is now REALLY starting to piss me off. Before I break something, does anyone know how to get Swype Beta to work on this new leak? I, and my many fragile possessions, would be eternally grateful.

Jun 16, 2010I'm trying to get this latest swype beta since i've never used swype before. I've got my email and when I click the link it says that I'm not running on an android phone... Could this be an issue with 2.1v3. I noticed another poster had the same issue and he's also on the leak. Is anyone else having the same problem or am I just SOL?
