Dec 12, 2009Anyone had any luck making a shortcut for a direct call or direct txt? The shortcut apps I've tried (anycut included) crash when I try.

Sep 21, 2010I found a way to get a Direct Dial shortcut using the free app Folder Organizer Lite. Long press the homescreen (or setup in Launcher Pro Dock) and select Shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, Direct Call, choose from your contact list. For the Direct Text using Folder Organizer Lite again. Long press the homescreen (or setup in Launcher Pro Dock) and select Shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, Direct Text, choose from your contact list.

Dec 24, 2009On my old flip phone when i got a call or text message with ringer on i could just hit the volume rocker and it shuts it up when i don't wanna take the call or message. On the moment i don't have that option. I have to hit end button, then menu, and then slide the notification bar down to shut it up. This be kind of annoying, especially when I'm in a meeting and forget to silence my phone before hand. There's a lot of times when i can't answer my phone and would love to reach in my pocket and hit volume button once to shut it up. So i guess what I'm asking is if there is a setting for this that i'm missing, or a different button that does the same.

Dec 12, 2009In Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.

Jun 5, 2010Does anyone know how to make ALL calls go direct to voicemail? When i try to upload a large file to YouTube, FB, etc - an incoming call/SMS kicks me off; and, I have to start all over. I have found how to do this on the HTC, through Settings:Wireless:Mobile Networks.... but similarities stop there.

Jun 25, 2010I like how contact shortcuts are done in Android 2.1, where you click on the contact shortcut and a quick menu showing phone, contact card, SMS and email are shown. I also like how when you click one of those items, you get to choose, for example, Text Home or Text Mobile. What I seem to be noticing, though, is that if I check the box that says, "Do this action by default" or whatever it is, then it does things by default for all of those actions. For example, if I check that box when I select "Text Mobile," because, really, I'm never ever ever ever going to text someone at home, then I go and select the call icon, rather than asking me if I want to Call Home or Call Mobile, it just calls (in this case, mobile). Anyone know how I can straighten this out and have my "default" only affect the one action?

May 3, 2010I updated to 2.1 recently, and I am using Helix launcher with 5 screens. I let a friend use my phone the other night and when she gave it back, it was messed up. I mean, it seems to work the same, but there are 5 small screens at the bottom of my home screen that look as if they are previews/shortcuts to the other screens. I cannot seem to figure out how she got that on there, or how to get rid of it! It's really annoying. Anyone have a clue??

Jan 26, 2010I've already done the update but both pre and post update, my Moment intermittently won't respond when getting a call. The call comes in, I hear the ringtone but no matter what buttons I press, the phone won't respond. I have to wait until voicemail kicks in or the call has ended.
I called Sprint technical support and they're going to send a new (I hope it's new) phone. I hate to set up the phone for the third time. Is there a fix or should I just bite the bullet and get the new? phone? Has anyone had this problem?
What experiences have you had with replacement phones from Sprint?
Should I be worried about getting a lemon phone?
Samsung Moment :: Call Waiting - Button Shortcut To Go To The Other Call Without Having To Look At A Menu?
Nov 10, 2009Dunno if this has been covered and maybe this is a stupid question. I have not had the phone long enough to have much call waiting experiences but the times I did, I noticed I had to press menu and then go thru a menu to "click over" to the other call. This is g=fine and dandy from the comfort of your couch but is not advisable if you are driving a car. Is there a one button shortcut to go to the other call without having to look at a menu?

Mar 5, 2010The problem is, when im in a call and i receive a second call (call waiting), i switch over and back...but i have no way of ending either call individually...even if the second caller hangs up the phone. My phone will continue say that i have a call on hold...is this a known issue or is it just me?

I have tried numerous tips and tricks that i have read on this forum to hopefully increase my battery life. My post today is about how to forward a text message using the moment. I upgraded from an Samsung Instict and had no problem forwarding messages using the phone; however, I do not get the option to forward when i hit the menu key when looking at a text.

Samsung Moment :: Anyway To Increase Text Size Of Emails And Text Messages?
Feb 19, 2010I did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.
1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
Samsung Moment :: Autocorrect Text - Replace Text
Jan 27, 2010Is there something i need to download to enable auto-correct and auto-replace typing features?
I can see in my text messaging that im automatically becomes I'm, which is great. But it doesn't do this in any other applications (only in text messages).
Furthermore, i want to add items to the autoreplace list, such as my name (capitalizing the first letter automatically), and other changes that i used to have on my Sidekick 3 (itss -> it's, smoment -> Samsung Moment, and probably many others i would think of over the months).
Is there an app i need to download? I want this feature enabled on every part of my phone, not just text messages.
Android : Using Direct Call From A Widget In Version 2.1 And 2.2
Jul 4, 2010I wrote a widget that can call numbers directly with one click. It works on the emulator, and it used to work on my nexus one when it had Android 2.1. Now I got the update, and the widget stopped working. I am using Intent.ACTION_CALL, and android.permission.CALL_PHONE. If I change to Intent.ACTION_DIAL it works, and the same code works from an activity. It is the combination of an app widget and the call action. I don't see any error. Does anyone know if it is not possible, and if so, how? Are there many cases the emulator is different than the cell phones, concerning the permission aspects?
The numbers are all regular, not 911 or something.

But what was wanted in settings where it appears eg GSM ROM settings are used and there appear and I click call comes in and then pop up the option or direct call pick up the call type to a checkbox understand?
I'm still newbie to and created a rom for my android and divulged here; D
Some Rom for x8 This capability has tried to talk to the developers but none of them gave me reset and will have some time
Samsung Moment :: Decent Call With Samsung C/S Today
Dec 8, 2009Decided to call and register a couple of my phone's common issues with Samsung. The tech support person was actually very knowledgeable and helpful. She and her husband both have Moments so she said she had a particular interest in getting some of the issues resolved. She didn't try any fixes but said with the recent influx of calls concerning Battery Meter/Life issues, a fix could be coming out before a software update.
She did say she knew for sure 2.0 or probably 2.1 was coming and she didn't know when. She said "trust me, I am as interested in this upgrade as you and check whenever I can" All she could confirm was that the upgrade is in the works, prolly be 2.1, and they feel many of the issues we have today will improve with the Android upgrade.

I recently switched my phone number, and apparently the person who had it before was delinquent on multiple loans, credit cards, etc. so I keep getting unwanted calls.
it's just a pain to have to answer them, wait 5 minutes to get a hold of someone and spend another 10 minutes trying to convince them that my number is not who they are tyring to reach.

Jan 25, 2010When I'm making a call and pull it away from my ear to look up something on the phone itself, the screen stays on. Is there any way to turn off the screen before the timeout occurs (assuming this will happen at all). I don't want to hit the hangup/red button, obviously, since I'm sure that would end the call I'm on.

Nov 28, 2009I made a phone call, got voice mail, and tried to hang up. Before I could hang up, the person called me back, so I talked to that person. After the person hung up, I saw that the first call I made was on "hold", so I switched to it, and tried to hang up. But the phone would not hang up. Noting I did would end the phone call. I could use the dial pad, I could go to the home screen, but the phone call would not end. I held the "end" button down and nothing happened, and I couldn't get out of the phone call. So I finally popped the battery cover, and pulled the battery to reset the phone.

Samsung Moment :: Call From XXXX Ringtone?
Jun 2, 2010Ok. I did one of the updates to 2.1 on my moment back when it was first leaked, and did the change to CE10 or whatever it was, then I just did the other day a custom makeshift one from the pick and choose list from Joey. Both of these 2.1 updates land me in this issue.
I can not find a setting to change it, and I thought it might have been from the Dialer One application but it isn't.
Whenever I choose a ringtone whether from Android, Music, or Zedge, no matter what it is. My ringtone when I get a call is always an audible call from John Doe. Or if the number isn't in my phone book it would say call from ###-###-####.
I have tried multiple ringtones and I still run into this. It never happened on the original 1.5. Is there a setting I need to change?
