This was working until today on wife's phone.Now it just says mobile data state disconnected. All shes done is installed a load of new apps.Is it possible that a bad app can screw the mobile data connection? Or could it be faulty phone? Tried the sim in another phone and data works fine so its not the network or sim.

I have an AT&T Captivate and it has been working fine until yesterday. All of a sudden I can't connect to the internet and no 3G icon. I have restarted the phone, pulled the battery,put my sim card in my brothers captivate and it works fine on his. After the phone restarts the 3G icon will appear for maybe 1 minute and I connect for that short time then it disappears and no more 3G. If I switch to wifi I can connect just fine.

The "USB Connected" notification stays on after the USB is disconnected, there's no way to evict it other than a reboot but now will reboot only if USB is reconnected to PC or Charger.I was so pleased by my new Galaxy S cell 3 days ago after a week of exploring and managing to get the best carrier and plan for this bright Samsung Smartphone. Then, the day after it lockup, but removing the battery for few seconds then replacing it back fixed that problem for that day. The following day been great too up the second lockup at night and this time, removing temporarily the battery did not permit to have the cell working anymore.So today I have been trying all day to determine under what condition these lockups occur. During those tests, I've first determined that during charging or during USB PC connection, I could repower up the Galaxy S. Then the cell could work for long period of time if connected to USB PC or power supply, but when I remove the USB cable, the firmware fail to detect that there is no more USB connection and start to flash every couple of seconds the message "USB connected" replacing the status bar at the top of the screen.
Then after several minutes, the cell freeze, and only by removing for few seconds the battery and then plugging the charger again, will permit to successfully power up the phone.I have of course made a Hard Reset to Factory Default, to no avail, during those tests. I think it's a hardware malfunctioning around the USB Port section. The connector look good seen with loop and both USB cable seem ok.If it's corrected by an update, I wonder if I'll be able to re-flash under this condition.
I have samsung galaxy star gt-s5282 rooted..i was getting a error from today there is little circled banned icon instead of mobile network signals and no incoming and outgoing calls it says mobile network not available.
When i see the info in devices status the network status was out of date and mobile network disconnected, how to enable the network..
For some reason my wifi at home won't connect to my phone now. It did when I first got the phone, but now if I turn on wifi and try to connect to it the phone doesn't even try and it just stays at a "disconnected" state. Any ideas why this is? I will be trying it on a different wifi connection later, but nothing has changed for my wifi connection so I am not sure why it just randomly stopped working.

I know Metro Flashed phones are only supposed to have all the features but just talk and text but come on,I got it specially programmed you know for full features.what's the point in having an awesome state of the art phone if you can't do crap with it? For some odd reason since yesterday morning,the phone's internet connection has been off.There is no icon of 1x or 3g,etc.In settings it says Mobile Network Connecting and later it says it has disconnected. I've tried many different APN settings, reflashed the rom (+ Radio) with full wipes and even over a few versions of opendesire still had no mobile internet. After typing *#*#4636#*#* it says GPRS Service: disconnected. Anyone no what type of preferred network I should use?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought an ATT S3, running android 4.1.2. I set up the APN as instructed by straight talk and everything works except data... just can't connect to the internet. On my old sprint S3, there is an option to turn data on and off in the top menu bar (when you swipe downwards from the top of the screen), but this option does not exist on this phone. There are buttons for wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc but NO DATA! At first I was thinking it was the APN settings, but now I am thinking there is something else wrong because I don't even see the data button to toggle it on or off. I can't see incorrect APN settings preventing the toggle data option from even showing on the phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedA friend has a Galaxy S3 on AT&T. He doesn't have unlimited data so he usually keeps mobile data off. Whenever he receives a picture message he has to toggle the data switch on and off. Sometimes he forgets to switch it off and his battery drains and his data usage goes up.
My workaround includes using the app Widgetsoid to create a toggle for mobile data but I would like to incorporate a timer in the command prompt option.
I noticed that it has an option for a custom command prompt to be executed when the widget is toggled. Could create a line of code which I can use to turn mobile data on and then off in a specified amount of time?

I have to go to settings, turn off "enable data access over mobile network," then cycle WiFi on-off several times before the phone will connect to my home router. Router has two channels, both a WPA2 encrypted one, and a "home guest" (open) one. Both show up as disabled until I cycle the WiFi off and on several times. There must be a setting to tell the phone to prefer WiFi -- no?

It seems some people had issues with defective phones that needed replacing, sometimes multiple times. I don't see that as ultimately a problem with the phone though, such as a design flaw that can't be fixed without more R&D.From time to time I see people posting something along the lines of "I'll never buy another Samsung product again" due to lack of support issues, or whatever, on some of the newer phone models. T-Mobile says I can get the Vibrant (Galaxy S) ("plus upgrade fee").I desperately want a faster CPU and a true Android 2.x phone, but I don't know. Got my new Samsung Galaxy S today and have been trying to get all the contacts from my T-mobile G2 Touch onto it. I have previously used VcardIo to do this with no problems. However when I take the file into the Galaxy S it shows as being 0 k. Though it is on on the G2. I have tried various programs on Market but the all seem to do the same.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem with my Galaxy S. I have unlimited mobile internet(3G), but not all Apps work.
For example when I am on the mobile internet network, de standard Internet browser does not work. It just displays a white page whatever I'm trying to load.Other programs say there is no internet connection avaible or just don't respond.
However there are 2 programs that d� work. Opera Mini and eBuddy can work with Wi-Fi and 3G. Other Apps like to check if it's gonna rain, or a News RSS viewer etcetera does not work.They only do with Wi-Fi.I have no clue what to search for and also no idea if it's my mobile phone or my provider(it's named 'Hi', it's dutch).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get a fully functioning data connection on my Galaxy S through my current SIM card. I can browse with Opera (which doesn't seem to care what the APN settings are) but nothing else works, (unless I get a wifi connection, which works fine). The problem may or may not disappear when I move countries soon (to Indonesia) but I'd like to understand what's going on.
I bought it in Singapore - it's got a SingTel setup (sticker on the back, boot screen, links on home) but it's supposed to be unlocked (and SingTel say they sell them unlocked too). A guy at the Samsung service center in Singapore said it was "locked" for other countries though because they don't yet have the Galaxy S - but once phone companies have the right settings for the phone it should be fine. I used it with a different Singapore phone company (StarHub) with a data plan for a couple of days that worked fine. I browsed and used the Google Maps app, no problem.
Then the problem. I came to Malaysia a week ago and bought a Maxis SIM card. At their service center they entered the APN settings (they already sell the Galaxy S), and the internet worked when I tested it on a few pages. 30 min later I tried again and got nothing, and it didn't come back. I returned to the service center, they made small changes to the settings, and it worked again... for a few minutes only. Then I discovered that I can browse in Opera - even if I use dummy APN settings (random numbers in one field and everything else blank or default).
However after I restarted the phone again, I couldn't repeat the success. I stopped unneeded apps, I uninstalled NimBuzz, I tried restarting over and over... but I get no connection other than with Opera. I've tried other internet apps (Maps, sync in GTasks, OkCupid, NimBuzz) and none work. Any clues as to what's going on?
I live in nyc where according to sprints coverage map I'm located in a dark blue area where 4g is supposed to be working even indoors. However, when I try to connect to 4g indoors my phone always tells me "4g network disconnected". The only time I get 4g is if I'm outdoors and even then it sometimes disconnects after a few minutes. So is this what we have been waiting for? For a 4g speed that only works if you're outside? I'm wondering if this is only in NYC or in all other places that officially have 4g? I can't believe that I'm paying 10 dollars extra for a service which I won't be able to use 90% of the time!
