Samsung Galaxy S :: How To Get Rid Of Trash File On SD?

Oct 21, 2010

I've been trying to work out why I only have 5.9g of my sd card available when it says only 1.9g is used in my file browser (this is the 14gb internal sd card I'm talking about). Enabled show hidden files/folders and this .trash-1000 folder appeared with like 7gb in it. It's all the stuff I've deleted over time; movies, images etc.

All the stuff I delete I do via astro or when browsing the folder from my computer (ubuntu) so I'm wondering which created this file and how do I get rid of it. I can just delete the stuff in it, but I don't want to have to go through this time after time.

I have tried to read as much as I have time for regarding email. Perhaps I set it up incorrectly from the beginning. I use Outlook/Comcast and set it up in the "regular email" Perhaps I should delete that one and use Work email?

General :: How To Flash Zip File - Samsung Galaxy W

Mar 2, 2012

I recently got my first android phone - Samsung Galaxy W.

I decided to install a custom rom. Before that i had to root my phone which i did without any problems. After that i had to flash ClockworkMod v5.5.0.4. I downloaded the file which was in zip however i didn't extract it (which is what i should have done) and copied into my phone's memory. After that i put this code in the command promt

adb shell
$su
#dd if=/sdcard/
recovery-clockwork-5.5.0.4-ancora.zip of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13

After rebooting the phone i can only get into the download mode in which nothing happens. And when i connent the phone to my pc the computer doesn't detect that my phone is connected. What shall i do now? Is my phone a brick now?

I can load the file but it only shows the first image and will not show all the views, and most importantly not the last image. This the site it is from -

I have flash 10.1 installed and of the few site I have visited, like this one - 2Advanced v5 - Attractor - Flash content seems to work fine on Dolphin hd browser and the standard browser.

Samsung Galaxy S :: File Manager For Rooted Phone?

Sep 1, 2010

Edit: oops sorry, kind of a double post as I eventually found the thread I was after and asked there. But since I pressed the post thread button I may as well ask here.I'm trying to replace a notification file in system/media /audio/notification and not having much luck. Astro won't do it. I've tried the file manager in Android Mate (given su permission) and it deleted the original file and when I transfer the new one in it says it was successful but the file doesn't show up. Reboot and it's still not there.Is there a good free file manager that will work with rooted phones, or what is the best paid one to go for? Thx

Samsung Galaxy I7500 :: LogCat - Cannot Get Output File

Sep 28, 2010

This is one thing I have yet to figure out. For some reason I just cannot get the darned thing to output to a file. I found this link Android Debug Bridge | Android Developers and it has lots of commands. I can get logcat to appear on the screen, but that's about it.

Here is what I am doing:
Start, Run, "C:Derek's phone firmwareandroid-sdk-windows
oolsadb.exe" logcat and poof log appears on the screen.

If I use "logcat -f" it just appears on the screen and disappears is less than a second. Also, no file is to be found (the default file is supposed to be stdout).

Android :: Install Files In File System - Samsung Galaxy 5

Sep 20, 2010

1) I am using Eclipse IDE and Android SDK 2.1 for my application. My application reads some data files from the File System, so using DDMS i push all the files in "/data/data/com.mypackage/" folder and run my application on emulator. I am able to see my desired output properly on the emulator.

2) Now i have Android device and i don't know how to push the files in the Internal memory of the phone. I have installed driver CD. But it only shows me the SD card directory.

3) Actually what i want is that the moment my application is installed and run it should read the data files from the file system. So there should be no added efforts to push the files in the file system.

4)Means can i pack my data files with my .apk file and when the apk is getting installed can the data files be placed directly in the internal memory(file system) i.e. "/data/data/com.mypackage/" folder. Is this possible ?

Android :: Contacts From 1.5 And 1.6 - Filtering Out Trash

Feb 24, 2010

I am trying to write a clean bit of code that can list the people in a 1.5/1.6 Contacts data store, and I do not see how I filter out the cruft that Google throws in (ad hoc "contacts" literally addressed by other apps and stored, for some reason, in the contact list without a clear means of discerning them from the real people the user cared to enter - the ones that would appear in the contacts app). I see that in 2.0 or so, "IN_VISIBLE_GROUP" is added as a field which seems to differentiate these versions, but what existed to accomplish this before that time? Here is my code which works in 2.x and fails to keep the chaff out in 1.x, as the selection parameter is unsupported:
final String[] proj = new String[] { Contacts.People._ID, Contacts.People.NAME };
final String selection = Build.VERSION.SDK_INT < 5 ? null : ContactsContract.Contacts.IN_VISIBLE_GROUP + "=1";
Cursor people = context.getContentResolver().query( Contacts.People.CONTENT_URI, proj, selection, null, Contacts.People.DEFAULT_SORT_ORDER);
if (people != null) { final int personIdColumn = people .getColumnIndexOrThrow(Contacts.People._ID);
final int nameColumn = people .getColumnIndexOrThrow(Contacts.People.NAME);
while (people.moveToNext()) { if (Thread.interrupted()) { people.close();
outputList.clear(); throw new InterruptedException();
} long personId = people.getLong(personIdColumn);
String name = people.getString(nameColumn);
if (name != null) { outputList.add(new Contact(personId, name));
} } // clean up cursor people.close();
}

Samsung Galaxy S :: Samsung Galaxy S - Android - Managing Google Contacts

Sep 5, 2010

I have configured my Samsung Galaxy S using my normal Gmail account. This has helped me to sync the Google Contacts with my phone.

Following are my questions:

1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.

2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".

I know how to do

(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.

Android :: Uninstalled Apps Leaving Trash Behind

Feb 9, 2010

i find it quite annoying that uninstalling an app doesn't remove all of its data.sure, this is desired behavior for some apps (a camera for instance), but imo google should have implemented a requirement for an app to explicitly request to be allowed to save permanent data, and if the request wasn't made, collect the location of any saved data and remove it upon uninstallation
