And I mean the one with tech support not the sales oriented one.
It had a dedicated URL, was not a branch off their main site.
I just got the update for GPS fix not to long ago, so I decided to test out the new Swype mic and here is what I found wrong with it. The Swype is by far less accurate then the Android keyboard mic. Even if you have cuss words programed into your Swype; when you say cuss words it will show as #### if even at all. All in all I suppose 2 might not be the biggest deal in the world, but 1 is a huge deal.

View 3 Replies View RelatedEdit: Well, it looks like I found what the problem was. Apparently the time without signal being stuck at 50% is a known android bug that a lot of phones have. Tried the fix posted at the bottom of this thread FWIW: New LG Ally has 50% Time Without Signal Bug
and it seems to be working for me, phones been on for 10 minutes and my time without signal is reporting at 0%
Original Post. Am I just not understanding what it means? I looked at the cell standby information about an hour ago, and I panicked when I saw that it said the phone had been on for 1d 5 hours since I turned it on, and the time without signal was 50%.
I rebooted the phone to get a fresh reading tomorrow before running back to the at&t store to get my money back, and after the phone had been on for a few minutes I went to check the info again, and saw that the phone had been on for 8 minutes, and the time without signal was 50%. Now service isn't amazing in my house but I generally get 3 bars at my desk, with it fluctuating between 2-4. If I pick it up and hold it, it'll drop to 1-2, sometimes losing signal completely very briefly (thank you antenna design). But, the phone had been sitting on my desk untouched, so it seemed really strange to me that it would have been without service 4 minutes out of the 8 it had been on.
Went into my display settings and set the display to stay on for 30 minutes, and have been sitting in the phone status screen now watching the bars (going between 3-4 now for the time I've been watching it) and the signal strength (going between -97 dBm 8 asu to -81 dBm 16 asu). I haven't been sitting here staring at it, but I've been glancing at it often enough that I feel confident in saying that the phone has not lost signal in the last hour. However I can go into the cell standby details screen right now, and it's reporting the Time on as 1 hour 9 minutes, and time without signal.....50%. Am I missing something, is it trying to say that it's been without signal for 30 minutes of the last hour, or am I misunderstanding what "time without signal" means (though it seems pretty straightforward).
Anyone else noticing this on their phone?
I picked up a Samsung Moment through Sprint back around June. I wanted the new Sprint 4G phone but figured I would make due with the Moment until the craze died down. Anyhow, I own a small firearm forum,Semi-auto Rifles. This is my main reason for going with a driod phone. It allows me to monitor my site away from home without popping out my laptop. Well for the last 2-3 months the Moment did it's job flawlessly. I was able to use it to maintain my site...even when my cable modem blew up one time and some cable guy disconnected our cable by mistake. My problem started this past weekend when all of a sudden my Samsung Moment started having issues locating my website. I keep getting the same "Web Page Not Available" message. Now sometimes it will allow me to access the home page and then freak out on the forum index page. This is the only site I have trouble with, I can access any other site and surf until I'm blue in the face. I took my phone down to the local Sprint store and they said my phone was out dated. So after 15mins and deleting all my Apps, they had my phone working again. Then come about 2-3hrs later, I started getting the same Web Page Not Available" message. During the whole time my site has been up and running with zero issues.
Anyhow, does anyone have a clue? I'm lost and this phone is worthless if I can't even access my own website. While I was at the Sprint store, I started tooling around on the new HTC 4G phone. It pulled up my web site and worked for about 10-15 minutes before it started giving me the same dang "Web Page Not Working" message. So I'm not sure if it's a phone thing or a Sprint thing? Then for the interest of Science, I started surfing other related forums to see if maybe Sprint was blocking firearm forums. I was able to tool around on other gun forums for about 10 minutes with zero issues.
When connecting my Galaxy-S to the Samsung Kies software, my telephone shows up with an incorrect telephone number. I did change the sim-card (and subsequent number) since first using it, but I never logged intio Kies with the old sim-card.The phone is rooted. How do I get Kies (or my Samsung phone) to show my current telephone number? In the phone properties (Menu, Settings, About, Status) the same wrong number is shown. When calling, the receiver sees the correct telephone number. So the issue is not operator related but telephone related.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I haven't been able to sync the AppBrain app up with the online website. I want to download all the apps that I've selected on the website.
I've done this already for about 70 apps.
I've already checked my connection with my gmail account, it's all good. I'm just going to go through and install them all manually, but if anyone has any ideas, let me know.
Is there an app or website that lets you download or stream video clips (movie trailers, etc.) in 720p?
I tried youtube and selected "view in high quality" but I highly doubt it was displaying 720p.
Samsung should stop promoting the Galaxy Tab and fix the Galaxy S phones.Tab is running 2.2 and most likely has a fixed GPS.While the rest of us who paid for a product still have not gotten our money's worth.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI have configured my Samsung Galaxy S using my normal Gmail account. This has helped me to sync the Google Contacts with my phone.
Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.
I'm totally new to the G1, coming from an iphone, but my gps when on (and can actually get a signal lock), seems to always have me on the grass or in the water if driving my any. Its rarely ever where I am. and im in a major city. Perhaps that could be why, but i always have clear view to the sky.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was originally going to get either the HTC Hero or Motorola Droid but found out they are both CMDA. and the Milestone is out of my budget. People have been suggesting to get the Samsung Galaxy S, that's also out of my budget and looks too much like an iPhone. So i stumbled upon these two phones.I'm leaning more towards the Spica because it has superior battery life, and 800mhz compared to the 528mhz the i7500 has. and it can also play DivX.What's making it a difficult decision is the i7500 has an AMOLED Screen. It can display 16,777,216 Colors while the Spica can only display 65,536 Colors I'm not too sure if that will make a difference. Also it has 5mp w/LED Flash while Spica is only 3.2.One phone has a little of both. This will be my first Android phone I'm coming from a Sony Ericsson W995.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently picked up a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate (Android 2.1) on Rogers Wireless. I've been having an issue with the wifi on it, it only works intermittently when I'm at home. It will connect to my network without issues, but none of the data-enabled apps can access anything, they just time out. While this is happening my old iPhone (recent android convert) and my Nintendo Wii are able to connect flawlessly. This ONLY happens when I'm at home on my own network from what I've seen, when I'm on the wifi at my work everything works fine. Has anyone seen issues like this or have any suggestions as to what may be causing it? FYI I have tried different wifi channels, currently my router is setup to use TKIP on WPA2 for encryption.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNew Incredible user just looking for some feedback, my battery stats are the following:
Uptime: 12:06
Awake time: 2:58
Battery use:
-Android system: 34%
-Cell standby 29%
-Phone Idle 22%
-Display 8%
-Voice calls 4%
-Maps 3%
I've been reading all other posts and their android system is significantly lower is there something draining my battery?
Even having this thing sync regularly its not accurate. Where is this weather coming from? I changed to weather bug and weather channel, both free apps are way better accuracy wise.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get my current location and show it on a map. Class com.google.android.maps.MyLocationOverlay.MyLocationOverlay does most of the work for you. But it's coming back with a very coarse result that's off by a couple of clicks. I'm listening for onAccuracyChanged() but that never gets called.
How can I get a more accurate location, when using MyLocationOverlay ?
PS. manifest has

I'm writing my first location based android app, but got confused about some of the GPS service api. Here are some questions I have:
1) To get my current location, I called requestLocationUpdates() with a listener in the onCreate() method of one activity. But what happens when another activity starts and the current activity goes invisible? Is the GPS location update going to stop? If so, how do I keep it on after the activity is switched?
2) how accurate is the Location.getSpeed()? How is it computed? Can it tell the difference between on bicycle and on foot?
3) not really a question about android. How to calculate the coordinates of a location, say, 100m away from my current location?
4) To stop the GPS, I only need to remove all the listeners that have been registered to locationmanager?
I lost my phone on a night out google latitde has pinpointed 5 days ago where my last location was known and is 5 - 10 mins away from the location i went.
I have an address from google latitude, not sure how accurate this is?
I hope its accurate ill be knocking on their door for my phone back.
I recently posted this question on stackoverflow (http://tinyurl.com/ yzrofne), but maybe someone here can help me. I am using the location manager's requestLocationUpdates() method to receive an intent to my broadcast receiver periodically. The system is correctly firing the intent to my broadcast receiver, and I have been able to use it correctly. The only problem is that the GPS location provider only stays active for a few seconds after the initial location acquisition, and I need it to stay on a little longer so that the location estimates are more accurate. For example, if I tell the location manager that I want an update every 5 minutes, it correctly fires the intent with location information from the GPS. However, the GPS only stays active for about 5 seconds, so it doesn't give much time for the location to reach a high accuracy (say, less than 10-20 meters). My question is how to make the GPS location provider stay active for each periodic request that comes from the LocationManager requestLocationUpdates. Does anyone know how to do this?
