Samsung Epic 4G :: 4G Network Disconnected
Nov 7, 2010I live in nyc where according to sprints coverage map I'm located in a dark blue area where 4g is supposed to be working even indoors. However, when I try to connect to 4g indoors my phone always tells me "4g network disconnected". The only time I get 4g is if I'm outdoors and even then it sometimes disconnects after a few minutes. So is this what we have been waiting for? For a 4g speed that only works if you're outside? I'm wondering if this is only in NYC or in all other places that officially have 4g? I can't believe that I'm paying 10 dollars extra for a service which I won't be able to use 90% of the time!

Sep 25, 2010This is a really weird deal. A friend of mine got an Epic about the same time I did, and we talked a lot, with both of us using speakerphone, and it sounded great. But at some point it started messing up, when both of us were on speakerphone. We get this really loud chirping sound, that goes away, if one of us turns speaker phone off. My friend also has this problem when talking to his wife, who also has an Epic. I don't experience any problems using speakerphone during any other calls, nor does he, unless they are Epic to Epic with both parties using speaker phone. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this odd behavior with their Epic? And if you haven't please try to test this out, with anyone else that has an Epic. At this point tech support doesn't have any other feedback, so I'm alone in the woods on this one.

Sep 6, 2010my husband currently has the Epic. Picked it up for him launch day and sent it out to Iraq the next day. He received it today.He had an Evo before the epic and never had this issue. the issue he's having is, obviously he doesn't pick up sprint service out in iraq, but with his evo he was able to pick up wifi and connect to google talk, qik, etc.his epic is allowing him to connect to a wifi signal, but it won't allow him to connect to google talk, qik, etc. it keeps saying "can't connect to server". like i said, he never had this issue with the evo.

I can't stream aac or aac+ when on the cell network, only when on wifi. This is not a bandwidth issue. On Cherry player, for example, it almost immediately goes to a stopped state, before making any real attempt to connect or buffer--long before any timeout that is.
Anyone else experience this?
Samsung Epic 4G :: Listen To Music And Take Calls In Car
Sep 9, 2010First off I apologize if this is answered elsewhere. I am a newbie and this is my first smart phone.I love the Epic everything works perfectly after I exchanged the first one for the back button issue.My question is I am listening to streaming radio in the car, through a cassette adapter that is plugged into the headphone jack on the epic and everything is cool. when I get a phone call - The radio goes off and I can accept the call, however here is the problem.When I answer the call I can hear the caller through the car speakers (makes sense) but they cannot hear me, I try pressing the speaker button and still they cannot hear me. I think the Samsung programmers have assumed that I have headphones plugged in with an attached mic and not a straight output jack.How do I answer calls in this situation?I am not willing to unplug the cassette adapter when cruising down the interstate at great speed.Is there a setting or a device (bluetooth or other?) that will enable what I need to accomplish.CLOSED - I just bought a $10 cable with a built in mic from Best Buy.

Nov 14, 2010My Epic 4G just lost all connection to the internet about an hour ago. Out of the blue, so to speak. I was browsing, set it down, then when I used it again it wouldn't connect. My browser, facebook, and any other connection required apps throw error messages saying - "connection error", "no connection". I've reset the phone several times, and as far as for the network settings, everything looks set the way it always is. I have done nothing to the network settings/options to have accidentally messed it up myself. I am connected via 3G, and this network problem is new to me. This phone has been nothing but constant problems and this is the newest one in a long list.

When I click on that, I get a Window's error message: "Windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. Please refers the list of available networks and try to connect again." The SPH-D70002E (Epic) is full bars strength.

Sep 9, 2010Sort of two things which might be related. I've been having call quality issues with this phone since I got it. I thought it sounded very electronic and could hardly stay on the phone. Took it to a Sprint store and they did a soft reset and said they couldn't duplicate the issue. I made some calls, some said it sounded better. As long as I have the volume turned down it seems to be okay. But then it's hard to hear what they are saying. If I turn up the volume it sounds like someone is yelling too loudly too close to a microphone. Like bad speakers rattling or something (especially with "s" sounds).
On my headset which was $100 and worked so well on my old phone (people couldn't even tell I was on a headset) the person on the other side either says it's "okay" or says they can definitely tell I'm distant, to one friend saying it was "awful." When listening to Visual Voice Mail it's awful sound, regardless of the volume. Want to try to get a new phone, but then worried I'll have one of the other issues everyone else is having (WiFi or GPS or whatever).

Nov 5, 2010Seems all the posts are about the opposite but I rooted and things were good, installed leedroid last night and just recently turned off my wifi and that's when I noticed that I had no data? I'm on Telus and far from using all of my plan. Very odd! Re-flashing with "AuraxTSense v8.0 HTC Sense 2.2" I do get the "limited service" warning at start up.

Poor Service inside home w/ my BBerry Curve 8330 pushed me to get a Verizon Network Extender. It DRAMATICALLY improved coverage and never dropped a call after it (except when leaving/coming into range of Network Extender (NE)
Now i've got the Droid Inc and have been noticing an unsettling trend:
When connected to the NE, i have missed at least 2 calls (that i know of only because they left vmails) in the last 2 days since having the phone. No entry in the call history.
I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?
As far as the NE itself goes, i wouldnt be able to do business or make calls from my home/home office without it. I dropped calls from my BBerry so much that i almost left Verizon because of it. The NE changed everything.
It was a little bit of a pain to set up but after it's connected it just works. It does NOT improve data service (3G) but with WiFi it doesnt matter.

Mar 24, 2010I see that a new Skype will be coming to the Droid's on Verizon's network this Thursday. Apparently it will allow outbound "Skype-Out" calls over the 3G network. I have a Skype-Out plan and a Skype number I use for my business. With the new Skype application, will calls people make to my Skype number ring the Skype app on my Droid? If so, will this be a huge battery drain if Skype is constantly waiting for incoming calls?

Sep 23, 2010When trying to make a phone call nothing happens for about a minute then a message pops up saying network busy try again later. It happens overtime I am in this area of about 90 miles!
I have full 3g bars.
Under -80 db signal
Can receive phone calls fine.
Can use the internet fine.
Tried reboot.
Tried prl update.
Tried factory reset.
Tried downgrading to stock 2.1
Had Verizon send me a new phone. fixed the issue for about a week then came back.
Verizon has not heard of this problem.
Other Verizon people even with an incredible doesn't have this problem.
Seems to be getting worse. It used to only happen in the Toledo Ohio area. Now it doesn't work for most of the Ohio area.
