Sep 24, 2010Are there any games out in the market that utilize the Epics keyboard without having to use the touchscreen?

View 6 RepliesI've tried looking at the videos and pics, but I am unable to see if there is a Tab key. The Tab key is very nice for completing online forms and logins. The original Touch Pro had this key, but they ditched it on the 2nd version.
Anyone know about this yet? Or does Android have another way for tabbing?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI currently have an issue with the epic. its not the battery issue or gps but the keyboard input. Sometimes at sporadic times (not every time)when I type a random letter or character I have to press a button two times to replicate the character or space and I'm a fast keyboard typer and its been bothering me lately and I'm wondering if anyone else has those issues? I already have went to sprint and had them exchanged the phone and the new phone still to no avail does the same thing. I thought it was Advanced task killer that may have caused my phone to be acting weird but I hard reset the phone and still no avail. Maybe its just a bad keyboard? both times? the phone is an august build and battery is also an august build. I'm at work right now and plan to hit the sprint repair store near home. I just want to know if anyone else has this issue? So I dont want to look like an idiot to the tech.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI thought Sprint had really good nfl coverage. I checked the Sprint NFL app but there was nothing about watching games. I had sprint nfl on my old blackberry and I was at least able to listen to the radio broadcast. I saw a verizon commercial a few days ago that looked like they have nfl games broadcasted over the phone. Is there anyway to watch games on the Epic?

First Review of Samsung Galaxy S, Epic 4G - Sprint?s Next 4G Phone
FWIW, the article lists the memory as: "Memory 16GB/8GB+ MicroSD(Up to 32GB)"
Does anyone know if it's possible to unlock the screen by simply sliding the keyboard open? My Moment does that and it's annoying as I end up pocket dialing people or opening up programs because the keyboard slide on it gets jarred and unlocks the screen. This will be a deal breaker for me between the Epic 4G and EVO.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI cant find a way to scroll up and down without pulling out the slide out keyboard.
Is there a way I can scroll in portrait mode (e.g. in apps like Gtalk, sms etc.) without pulling out the keyboard and using the arrow keys.
I miss this feature sorely from my HTC Incredible which had a dedicated scroll pad or My Sprint Hero which also had a trackball.
I know this has been mentioned a hundred times...but...anyone else seeing the keyboard getting looser and looser? even when the phone is closed the top screen part seems to wiggle up and down and seems to be getting a bit looser then when I first had it...If you gently try to lift the top screen upwards away from the keyboard (while in closed position, the top screen moves away from the keyboard for me by about a 1/16th of an inch.
I know it sounds paranoid and I may just be being OCD, but is anyone else having this problem?
And before you say it I know slider keyboards often have this problem. I've had sliders before...I just don't recall if any of them got this loose this quick
They function key has a few weird stains on it that look like dirt or coffee stains. Those were there when I first got the phone. Is there any method to clean it without messing up the phone? If it involves buying some sort of cleaning solution, please suggest something I will use for other purposes other than this one issue.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've started a few threads here n other places about the physical keyboard issue. many other ppl have to came forward having the exact issue where it does not recognize inputs. as noted, in some apps this is worse then others. stock browser I have this issue frequently so I dl xscope and at first all was ok then after decent amount of browsing issue would happen more frequent. stock sms the issue happens a lot so I try handcent and at first all was amazing then it would happen a lot again . . tried chomp and same deal. if I hard reset my phone the kb works good on most apps for a lil, then issue occurs again. does anyone who is advanced in diagnostics on these devices think this may be an angle at looking at the issue for a fix ? and if so could a custom ROM be a way at avoiding this issue ? I've never flashed a device on winmo or android but extremely love this device to the point where I would to regain a normal keyboard .. anyone have insight here ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to remap some of the keys on the PHYSICAL keyboard. For example, I've never inserted a smiley in a message and don't intend to start now, so remaping the dedicated smiley key to something useful would be productive.
View 9 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody know if it's possible to slide open the keyboard, but keep the screen locked? I couldn't find any settings connected to this, but even when the keyboard would slide (just a little), the phone would automatically turn on and unlock. I want to prevent that from happening.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if anyone's screen has a slight wobble with the keyboard extended out? Mine does, if everyone's is like that I'll just get over it, but it doesn't seem like it should have any give at all.
View 8 Replies View RelatedHome screen used to do landscape immediate and always. Now it doesn't do landscape at all unless I slide the keyboard out and it pops into landscape immediately. Then when I close the keyboard it goes back to portrait even when I'm holding the phone in landscape. Not sure how to fix this, help please.
View 26 Replies View RelatedBrowsing around the net at work today for Bluetooth Game Controllers, I came across a Mini Bluetooth Keyboard HERE - it's also selling on Ebay. It claims to be compatible with Android, but as we're all learning Android on one phone isn't the same as Android on another.
I'm wondering two things really: 1) Anyone know if it is actually compatible with Android and moreso if it's compatible with HTC Incredible
and 2) If it is compatible, once connected, can you use it in conjunction with Game Emulators (I have the popular one for GBA) so that I could use the buttons on there to play the games.
It's the perfect size for a game controller (too bad they don't also make one for that purpose) and would be much better than the touch screen controls which impede on the game.
I would like to see if there is anyway of changing the keyboard layout on the magic to the abc version if so how do you do it?
also is there any good games or apps that anyone knows?
How do you send a text message using the keyboard instead of tapping send on-screen?

Its encouraging to hear statements like this one....
Noah: "Epic is the best hard QWERTY Android device I've ever tried. By a healthy margin!"
I'll definitely be purchasing mine launch day. The 31'st can't come soon enough!
I recently got the Epic 4G and I am trying to get Gameboid to work on my Epic. It's telling me, "You MUST specify the BIOS file in the settings before you can play any games!" So I downloaded gba_bios.bin and saved it onto my SD card. How do I get the Bios mounted so I can actually use the application to play my ROMS?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been through three different car mounts so far, they of the "universal" variety... one with rubber side clamps, one padded, both with feet underneath... none of them were to my liking... didn't hold my Epic well enough, either fell out (thankfully while I was monitoring it) or felt like it could if I hit too big a bump. My question is if anyone has found a really good car mount yet, specifically for the Epic preferably? I prefer a windshield mount, but I'm willing to consider other options if it's sturdy and I can position it decently in my car.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI had pretty bad battery life today, took off the charger at 11:30, just plugged in at 15% 11 hours later, with a short charge in the car on the way to a late lunch. No text messages, no emails, no phone calls . I got a few apps off the market, did a little web surfing, & watched one 4 minute youtube video. This is my first Android phone, I had a HTC Touch Pro before this. BTW - The lack of comms today is because I'm not working right now, but in the middle of federal hiring process with the next appointment on the 13th, wish me luck. Bluetooth, GPS, and wifi are always off. Screen brightness is left at the lowest level. This is all shown with the Power Control widget on a home screen. I also have the Samsung Program Monitor widget on the same screen, and nothing stays running. Auto sync is always off, I rarely actually use gmail. The stock email app is set to check two other email accounts every hour.
I tried a little test, but just don't know what to make of it. I have Battery Monitor and Android Manager Free installed. Whenever I mention Task Manager, I accessed it through AMF. Before beginning, I removed the Weather Channel widget from the home screen and terminated the app in the Task Manager. I had installed a BBC news app today, but uninstalled before testing; it automatically updated a couple times today and showed up in Task Manager after I terminated it. I made sure Background Data was turned off, I generally only turn it back on when I launch the Market (gives a popup saying it needs it). I plugged the charger in with the phone at 26% charge, just for a minute to reset the last time unplugged. Using Battery Monitor (which apparently just shortcuts to the built-in Android battery monitoring screens found through Settings) I checked the status periodically, along with seeing what was active in Task Manager. Every 5 to 10 minutes I would press the power button to turn on the display, then check Battery history - Since last unplugged. I'd check the Task Manager, terminate Battery Monitor and AMF, then press the power button to turn the screen off............
