Nov 9, 2009I cannot take credit for this as it's mentioned in multiple threads here, I would just like to bring it to the attention of anyone that doesn't already know.Disabling APN when not required has allowed my phone to run for 3 days and still be at 70% battery.To disable APN I installed the app WiSyncPlus from the app store.This app can be used for controlling network/data access on your phone in multiple ways, but all I use is the very simple APN toggle widget.I only toggle APN on when I require data access for web/email/market etc. then switch it straight back off. When APN is off you can still use the handset as an old school phone, for calls and texting, but not mms.There are multiple options in this app for controlling syncing etc. very much worth a look if you use your phone for email too.I also have my Samsung switchers widget app next to the APN widget, so if I have a wifi connection available I use this instead of enabling APN to surf the web etc.There is also a free app called APNDroid that can disable APN but I haven't tried this so can't comment on it's usability.

Aug 12, 2010Today my battery was down to 20% after about 24 hours without a charge and little activity. I couldn't get an MP3 to play so I decided to do a re-boot. After re-boot the battery level went all the way up to 50% and with heavy MP3 play it is down to 40% after 2 hours of use. I'm running the 2.2 OTA sent by Verizon yesterday.Anyone else ever try a re-boot when the battery gets low? I found it very strange.

Jun 7, 2010So, I received a call on my Evo when it was sitting on the charger at 100% battery, then I answer the phone and I have a 12 minute conversation (that's the exact length of the call). I look at my phone and it now says 90%. That's really bad... I have all wifi, Gps, and widgets turn off that I know drain the battery... that is unacceptable battery time. So I have seen that 3500mah battery on Seido's website before but it's not released yet, so I chatted with someone to get some info on it because I really need that battery... going by the mah it should more than double the battery life. I really need that large battery and I don't care about increasing the thickness of the phone at this point. The only problem will be in finding a case for it after that battery is on there.

Feb 25, 2010I have purchased the Seidio Extended life battery (2600mAh) about 1 week ago and i do not feel it is performing as expected.Here are the issues i am facing: 1.) The phone takes about 1 hour to report fully charged (similar to standard battery), but if i unplug the charger then re-insert, the battery charge is reported at 60%.When the battery reaches 100% again, i repeat the same process and this time the battery reports as 70%.This repeats until the battery is "actually" at 100%2.) The battery seems to drop charge irregularly, the first 10% is lost after a very short period of time (4 minutes on the last check!) 3.) Once the battery reports as being down to 20%, if i re-boot the phone, it then reports charge of 60% again and the process starts again.I have enclosed 2 attachments to support this information, the image file is a graph i pulled from an app called "Battery Graph", as you can see, the battery level does not drop on a smooth basis, if it was working correctly i would expect a smooth curve, not sharp drops.The second attachment is a zip file which contains an excel spreadsheet showing the full breakdown of the battery % drop during yesterday.

Sep 24, 2010My battery started draining rapidly all of a sudden. I had the Seido 1750 battery. I stopped yesterday at the Verizon store and got the 2150 Battery-it is also draining quickly. I guess the Seido battery was not the problem. The battery was fully charged before I left yesterday, but it was drained completely after being off the charger for only 16 hours..5 of them I was sleeping. I do not have the GPS on...etc..None of my setting on my phone changed. I am not sure why the battery is draining so rapidly.

So if mAh is 2x higher than stock, it will last 2x as long, under same conditions. I did a mock-up of what it would be like with the "extended battery door", which is pretty close to what is pictures, and it felt easier to type using the hard keyboard.

Jul 20, 2010I have been having some battery issues on my Captivate and can only seem to get through 12 or so hours with minimal use and it is quite bothersome. The main reason I bought the phone was because of its battery life and so far, I am disappointed. For instance, I charged my phone all night, woke up and made a less than one minute phone call, looked at my status and I was at 96%. As the day went on with minimal use, it seems to drain without me even touching it. As of now (13 hours later), my battery icon is blue and showing halfway full, but the battery status says 36% which does not add up to me. I also don't have a live wallpaper and have Advanced Task Manager that kills all apps as well as GPS and Wifi turned off. Any tips? Should I take it back and get a new one or see if I can get a new battery?

Aug 11, 2010I seem to be having what I consider unacceptible battery life and I wanted to collect some thoughts on how to improve it, or if I should seek remedy with AT&T or something. At this point, the phone is of limited use to me because it dies part way through the day, which is unacceptable. Normal routine. Phone charges completely overnight. I unplug my phone sometime in the 7am hour. I usually get my first battery warning around 3pm. Phone usually shuts itself off around 5-7pm (hence, a serious problem). Since the phone is dying, it is "cycling" the battery every time I charge it. My day is what I would consider moderate usage. For comparison, my Samsung Jack last a day and a half under the same conditions. My settings for display and other things are essentially stock.
I pulled the battery stats the last time the phone died just as it was shutting itself off.
Total time: 11h 49m
Display: 39% 1h 22m
Cell idle: 12% 10h 19m
Cell Standby: 25% 11h 41m, No signal 6%

Samsung Captivate :: Battery Life Display
Jul 22, 2010I have done everything that I can think of in order to increase my battery life. I even took the old jeep to the shop to get the AC port fixed so I can charge in my car. I don't know if I have a genuine problem here or if I am just being picky. I know I have been using my phone more the past 3 days because it is a new toy and I can't keep my hands off of it, but I have noticed that the battery does not last more than 8 hour of normal use before it is completely depleted. I rooted it, removed the bloat, turned of GPS and Wireless assist, don't use WIFI, installed a task manager, and turned screen brightness to the minimum.
With all that being said the phone still does not last near what I think it should be. I have had it for 3 days now, so I am guessing what I am hearing from other people is that my battery should be broken in by now. I don't know what else to try. I noticed that when I check the battery use, the display is usually 70+ percent. Is there some day to decrease the brightness beyond the stock settings or something to increase life?Does it sound like I may need to do a battery swap. I know I have been playing with the phone more, but I feel like I haven't been using it so much that it should die that quickly.

Aug 5, 2010My battery life has been pretty poor to this point, so I have been going from full charge to completely empty. I was doing that today when my phone shut off because it was out of battery. I then went and plugged it in for about four minutes, then realized I needed something so I unplugged and turned it back on, and now am showing 43% battery! I figured it was a glitch with the stock battery display, so downloaded the BatteryLife widget, which confirms I have 43%. Does this mean I need to complain to AT&T to get a new battery, or a new phone? Update: I rebooted the phone again and was at critically low battery life. I reseated the battery and rebooted again, and now I'm at 5%.

I've been messing with setcpu and trying out some underclocking profiles. Underclocking while the screen is off as well as reducing the CPU power has gotten me 75% battery left after 8 hours. This is with constant emails but no wireless, bluetooth, or gps. This is better than I was getting under windows mobile.

Sep 18, 2010Ive been stalking the forums for a few weeks, reading up on all the issues and things associated with this phone and i can say ive experienced most of them (excluding rooting issues, i havent rooted).
*(of course) gps issues
*phone spontaneously shuts off and battery has to be removed before it will turn back on
*randomly awakes itself from sleep just to display the lock screen
*painfully short battery life
*no signal for a long time, have to restart phone several times before it returns.
These have all plagued me horribly the past month or so. then today it decided it wanted to....::gasp:: behave?
My battery still had half its life left when i got home tonight and its usually dead or yelping for a charge by that time (activity/usage the same today too). pages loaded quickly today and i had a signal all day.
