Samsung Captivate :: Move Files Into Sync List / WMP Freezes

I've searched all over the forums and can't find anyone else who is having this problem. I am able to set my captivate to "media player" under the USB settings and Windows Media Player is able to see it. I move files into the sync list and start to sync. It all works perfectly until, for whatever reason with no consistency, WMP freezes. I've concluded it's because the Captivate stops responding but I can't find a solution. The music files are not a problem since they are already condensed in mp3 format. But I need a solution for syncing pictures. Double Twist ignores the original folders and lumps every picture into one folder called "Images", so that's pointless.

Looking to speed up my Samsung Captivate a bit. Seems like every since I loaded it up with some music and movies that it is slower. Any truth in that? Considering getting an SD card to hopefully help with that but not sure if it is just my imagination. Anything else for performance tweaking would be great too.

I bought my Captivate and am a Android convert from Iphone and many Windows Mobile devices. So far I like the phone and the app store however am annoyed I can't get outside android programs to load.I have seen the sticky on this but am leery to attempt it.In the meantime I have some questions.
1. Is there a regular way most people use to move their movie files over to this phone? I tried doubleTwist, however I have selected just one folder and it grabs everything in all media folders and I have deselected looking at Windows Media Player and Itunes so this is causing me much frustration. Is there an easier way?
2.I just realized that the phone doesn't utilize an alarm clock feature. I know this is very minor, I am assuming there is an app for that.
3.Any advice an a good ebook reader for this phone?
I know I have more, but I'll stop here for now. The syncing part is just driving me nuts!

I downloaded a blu ray rip of super bad in 720p. total file size is 4.7gbs. For some reason windows will not let me sync the file through media player or drag and drop.when I drag and drop it just says "windows explorer failed blah blah" and automatically closes.I have .mkv codecs on my computer, the files play seamlessly.Is it because the file size is too big?any ideas?

So I'm an Android Newb. Just get my captivate yesterday. I got my wife one and myself one. Among the many questions I have, the most concerning is, why does my youtube app freeze, and have to be force closed, when I try to log into my account? I used my wife's and I'm able to log in no problem. The only difference is I have a few different apps then her, but the problem has occurred since I purchased the phone. Is there anyway to uninstall and reinstall this native application? I've even tried logging into someone elses app and the same thing happens!

My captivate seems to keep freezing when doing things, most notably when I goto my downloads on the market, using Zedge to download a new wallpaper or using juiceplotter and just opening it, I get a black screen and it sits for a period of time approx a min or two...anyone else having these types of issues. I did do a factor reset this morning and also installed adw.launcher, but it still does it when using those programs and some others just can't remember which ones right off hand. thanks!!

Anything you guys can think that could help? I've searched around, and found that holding down VOLUME DOWN and Power lets you hard reset the phone, but this doesn't work for me. I hold them down, and the phone just boots up like normal and then shuts off.I rooted it, and it was working fine. Rebooted a few times and then it quit working.

I am a big fan of Android and the Captivate. I've been addicted since day one.
That said, I'm noticing a lot of lag for a "high end" phone with such high specs. I have two news widgets, one weather, and a live wallpaper, and that's it. But I notice sometimes I push the power button and nothing happens for a while. I swipe the lock screen and it freezes for a second. Things take time to happen on this phone. I'm not even running my favorite launcher (Launcher Pro) because when I run it, the wallpaper would freeze for a few seconds at certain times.
When I remove the the widgets and use a static wallpaper, things vastly improve. But then it's as plain and boring as an iPhone!
The widgets I'm running: Battery Indicator, Weather Bug, Engadget, News Buzz.
The wallpaper is the galaxy live wallpaper that comes with the phone.
I mean I customize the phone with a couple of widgets and a live wallpaper and I try to show it to someone, and instead of awing and shocking them with its brilliance, it turns into a crappy PowerPoint slideshow.

I was recently emailed a number of pictures to my gmail account. I was able to save the first picture to the Captivate. Since then, I have not been able to do anything with the other pictures.

Since there are many things left off the current firmware, why don't we start a list of what people would like included in the future versions. Not hardware upgrades, mind you, but specific features, such as:
- Support for led notifications (the lights are on the phone, but there's no software support)
- Ability to change calendar color (Exchange)
- Ability to change calendar sound notification (right now, you can't change the calendar notification, and its different from the general sound notification)
- Ability to dim brightness lower than currently possible
- USB discovery out of the box when connected to your computer.
- Get rid of the linked contacts feature.

My contact list got very messed up when the list was transfered over from my old flip phone.There are way too many problems to be able to go through it and make edits. I think the best thing I can do is completely start over clean. What would be the best way to do this?I have a gmail account that was created when I got the phone a month ago but really have never used gmail before. Can I enter a new contact list in gmail on my computer and then somehow copy the list to my phone?Would I be better off using another program that would sync with the phone? I really want to be able to enter the names and numbers on the computer first because obviously it is way easier then typing on the phone.

OK, i dont know how to, but for the life of me iv tried every possible way to add a photo from my gallery to some of my friends on my contact list but it wont let me theirs just no clean cut way that i can see, so if someone know how to please let me know, i tried syncing it with my facebook but half my friend have wrong numbers and its getting farking annoying.

Dozens of unknown names and numbers have appeared in my Samsung Captivate's contacts list. The numbers appear to have area codes from my state but with names like Joe Blow Repairman, they must be a fake. My contacts list is sync'ed with Google Gmail but I don't see these numbers on my contacts list when I log into Gmail. Is this a known virus from an App I installed? What should I do?

I tried to play the files but none of them work except for a couple that is in mp4 format. The rest is in divx. Divx is one if thee supported format for the captivate, but it doesn't work.I downloaded the videos from here: ( Super amoled videos)

I'm able to get AC3 5.1 @ 640kbs to work with my 720p mkv files but the playback skips about every 5 seconds. Other then that It looks and sounds amazing! I've tried encoded to 5.1 FLAC and AAC but it doesn't play at all. Are there any encoding experts out there?

I know that this has already come up but I am new to the forum and I just bought my captivate. I had problems with my PC (Vista) recognizing the phone but now it seems to be working but I don't know if I should just drag and drop my music files to the droid or if I need to use a program to sync it. I have media money but it doesn't seem to be syncing up with my phone. I also would like to know if there is an app that would work better then the AT&T music player which I have read sucks.

I was wondering if there is a way that I can exclude some folders and files from being accessed by the camera app and the gallery app.
I've loaded some R rated movies (Wedding Crashers, Superbad, etc) which contain adult content.I notice that the movies are accessible from the Camera and Gallery apps. I let my kids play games and take pics and dont want them to be able to access these so easily.Are my only options to remove the movies or not let them use my phone?

I have a samsung captivate. I am using the gmail app for 2 accounts, one work google apps account with its own customized url and one personal with a gmail extension. I have downloaded officesuite, quickoffice and thinkfree apps that supposedly help open office files. no luck. I have opened pdfs.I get lots of xls and ppt a day which i have to view. In the gmail app inbox view, all that happens is i can click the preview button for the attachment at the bottom of the email. there is no download button. When i get the preview button pressed, it gives me the circle of death spinning round and round saying "fetching attachment" and nothing happens, i hit the home key to end the fiasco.in my personal account it is working. In the google apps act, the wheel of death.

Anyone notice that facebook notifications, just flat out doesnt work on this phone. i've tested an Aria, Incredible, and Evo, and it works on all of those. i've got notifications turned on and everything, and facebook is excluded from ATK but i never get any updates.
