Motorola Milestone :: Seidio Extended Life Battery
Feb 25, 2010
I have purchased the Seidio Extended life battery (2600mAh) about 1 week ago and i do not feel it is performing as expected. Here are the issues i am facing: 1.) The phone takes about 1 hour to report fully charged (similar to standard battery), but if i unplug the charger then re-insert, the battery charge is reported at 60%.When the battery reaches 100% again, i repeat the same process and this time the battery reports as 70%.This repeats until the battery is "actually" at 100%2.) The battery seems to drop charge irregularly, the first 10% is lost after a very short period of time (4 minutes on the last check!) 3.) Once the battery reports as being down to 20%, if i re-boot the phone, it then reports charge of 60% again and the process starts again.I have enclosed 2 attachments to support this information, the image file is a graph i pulled from an app called "Battery Graph", as you can see, the battery level does not drop on a smooth basis, if it was working correctly i would expect a smooth curve, not sharp drops. The second attachment is a zip file which contains an excel spreadsheet showing the full breakdown of the battery % drop during yesterday.

seidioonline.com 2600mAh...almost double stock value.FWIW, I've had one in my Motorola Q for the past year, 2100mAh, and there is a direct correlation on mAh value and usage time compared to stock. So if mAh is 2x higher than stock, it will last 2x as long, under same conditions. I did a mock-up of what it would be like with the "extended battery door", which is pretty close to what is pictures, and it felt easier to type using the hard keyboard.

If anyone has actually purchased the non slim version of the seidio extended battery on the droid, can you report your thoughts here?
1) What kind of battery life are you getting now vs before?
2) How much does the cover screw your ability to lay the phone down on a flat surface and type with any of the keyboards?
3) Is it worth the price?

The internal meter says it is due for charge long before its out of juice. Battery Left widget will give accurate voltage levels, but it too is fooled, even after proper calibration.

Today my battery was down to 20% after about 24 hours without a charge and little activity. I couldn't get an MP3 to play so I decided to do a re-boot. After re-boot the battery level went all the way up to 50% and with heavy MP3 play it is down to 40% after 2 hours of use. I'm running the 2.2 OTA sent by Verizon yesterday.Anyone else ever try a re-boot when the battery gets low? I found it very strange.

1: Where can I find a extended life battery at for under $50? I like listening to radio stations through apps like iheartradio and it just kills my battery. Do I need an extended life battery to fix this or is there another way?
2: Is there a battery problem with ss 4.4? I noticed after 1/2 hour of use it goes from 100% to 90% then after two hours of texting and email it goes down to 70%.

I can't seem to find the information I'm looking for How long does the 1750mAh battery and the 3500mAh battery last with moderate to heavy usage? I'm getting about 10-12 hours on stock 1300mAh battery. I take the phone off of the charger at 5 in the morning and by the time its 5pm the battery is in the red at 5-10%

OK, we all know the Eris battery is a major complaint. Has anyone bought an extended life battery for the Eris yet? If so, is it worth it? Is there a noticeable difference in battery life? It aint cheap so I would appreciate any feedback on this.

So, I received a call on my Evo when it was sitting on the charger at 100% battery, then I answer the phone and I have a 12 minute conversation (that's the exact length of the call). I look at my phone and it now says 90%. That's really bad... I have all wifi, Gps, and widgets turn off that I know drain the battery... that is unacceptable battery time. So I have seen that 3500mah battery on Seido's website before but it's not released yet, so I chatted with someone to get some info on it because I really need that battery... going by the mah it should more than double the battery life. I really need that large battery and I don't care about increasing the thickness of the phone at this point. The only problem will be in finding a case for it after that battery is on there.

I cannot take credit for this as it's mentioned in multiple threads here, I would just like to bring it to the attention of anyone that doesn't already know.Disabling APN when not required has allowed my phone to run for 3 days and still be at 70% battery. To disable APN I installed the app WiSyncPlus from the app store. This app can be used for controlling network/data access on your phone in multiple ways, but all I use is the very simple APN toggle widget.I only toggle APN on when I require data access for web/email/market etc. then switch it straight back off. When APN is off you can still use the handset as an old school phone, for calls and texting, but not mms. There are multiple options in this app for controlling syncing etc. very much worth a look if you use your phone for email too.I also have my Samsung switchers widget app next to the APN widget, so if I have a wifi connection available I use this instead of enabling APN to surf the web etc. There is also a free app called APNDroid that can disable APN but I haven't tried this so can't comment on it's usability.

I have a Milestone running Android 2.1
Initially, battery life was terrible, so bad I was considering returning the phone: with only K-9 email imap idle push email on in the background, and auto-sync off, I could get barely 7-8 hours of battery life, whereas with the Nokia e71 and Iphone 3gs I would get at least a day and a half, with comparable usage (push email, ca. 20 emails a day, 30 minutes of web browsing and 20 minutes of calls a day).
I then disabled background data, leaving the k-9 push email on, and now I get 2 days of battery life!
This is great, of course, but it also raises another question: what on Earth was going on in the background that was draining the battery? Thoughts?
Specifically, if you're interested in replicating my settings: I used 'any cut' to create a shortcut on the home screen to: settings -> account & sync. Once I untick 'background data', I can still use k-9 email, the browser, maps, etc, i.e. data-on-demand, if you will.
If I want to access the market, I enable backgr data again. If I want to sync contacts and calendar, I enable 'account sync' from the power control widget (which enables background data, too), and then, once done, I disable background data and account sync.
In k-9: menu -> folder list -> account -> settings -> background sync -> always. This way imap idle push works even when background data is off.
I then have a remember the milk widget (but Astrid is a valid free alternative) with manual sync, and a pure calendar widget with, again, auto sync off.
This is the best battery life I have ever had from a smartphone! But I am also curious to understand what was using data in the background and draining the battery so much... Having account sync off is a deal breaker for some, but for me it's ok: I don't update calendar and contacts every second, so the trouble of pressing a couple of buttons every now and then is well worth the extended battery life.

My battery started draining rapidly all of a sudden. I had the Seido 1750 battery. I stopped yesterday at the Verizon store and got the 2150 Battery-it is also draining quickly. I guess the Seido battery was not the problem. The battery was fully charged before I left yesterday, but it was drained completely after being off the charger for only 16 hours..5 of them I was sleeping. I do not have the GPS on...etc..None of my setting on my phone changed. I am not sure why the battery is draining so rapidly.

Here is something interesting about the Milestone. Enable Airplane mode, put it on the charger over night. Wake up to find your Milestone drained. This happens with my Blackberry Curve as well. Airplane mode drains the battery faster than its being charged. Has anyone else seen this? Or am i just getting lucky twice?

My Motorola has begun to behave strangely. I think they lost the battery too quickly, so I have yesterday installed Netcounter and a Task Manager to see what it may be due.
Since yesterday, it downloaded 53 MB of data, including 28 MB today. It's too much, because I have hardly used it for anything but standby. There obviously mail pops up on it, but I read them on my PC. I have not used Google Maps, Web browsing or other things.
WiFi is off, but my battery is at 50% (this morning at 7:30 am, it was at 100% - now 4 hours later it's 50%).
Last night the Milestone was warm on the backside, but not where the battery is placed, but closer to where the sender/radio is placed.
Conclusion: Some programs must be running all the time,
1 hour ago I closed all programs using Task Manager.
But now, all these apps seems to be running (according to task manager):
*Netcounter
Phone Portal
Calendar
*Handcent SMS
**Alarm Clock
Music
Settings
Email (ikke google mail)
Maps
Media Gallery
Bluetooth file transfer
Smart Alarm clock
Messaging
Facebook (jeg bruger ikke facebook widget)
MyBackup
Corporate calendar (ikke google kalenderen, men en kalender der kan synkronisere med outlook)
**CalWidget
*Gmail
AK Notepad
Photoshop.com mobile
Practically all programs. I have only used programs marked *
** = programs I can understand if they're running, i.e. widgets
Why does all my programs start? And which are using the Internet?
I looked at settings -> about phone -> battery usage:
android.process.acore: 71%
Facebook: 6%
display 5%
Android system 5%
Phone idle 4%
Cell standby 3%
Google 3%
Android os 2%
Cell Standby should be >90% since I've not using the phone today.
Any ideas? Should I erase all and restart? Or is it because I have not updated yet (still running the 2.0 version from out of the box)

I love my Droid X and I get awesome battery life under the right conditions. Using Tasker extends this even further, but even without a tasker profile today, I unplugged at 8am and at 4pm I was at 80 percent with moderate usage. This was after doing a full cycle charge last night. However, I'm greedy for more and I want to buy the extended battery but not sure where I can find it for a good price.

So I have been patiently waiting for a slim extended battery for the Motorola Droid. I have even been searching ebay to see what I can find and at last I found something.
1600MA Battery For Motorola BP6X Droid A855 Cliq MB200 - eBay (item 390150571975 end time Mar-02-10 01:03:07 PST)
I found this 1600mah battery for under $10. I was wondering if anyone had any success stories with inexpensive bootleg batteries. This battery is only 200+mah over stock. It might have less than 20% extra power.

I also bought a new charger from asset for blackberrys because I lost mine and when it's conntected to that charger the touchscreen gets semi unresponsive. Should I return the charger? Also for the other people who have this battery how do you like it?

I just bought the extended battery for my Droid X yesterday and put it on charge for three hours last night and then at bedtime. I got up this morning with a "charged" battery. I used the phone a little today but not alot. By 7 pm CST my battery was at 30%. Is this normal, I mean with the regular battery I had a better battery life span than this. Did i not charge it correctly?
