Oct 21, 2010My house is in a good att coverage area but both of my new captivates are getting horrible reception.Tried software updates ota.Is there anything else i can try?

Samsung Captivate :: How Has Your Signal / Reception Been?
Jul 23, 2010I am considering getting the fascinate (Verizon's version of the Galaxy S) but had been hearing that Samsung has weak radios and the reception is bad.Any truth to this? How has your signal/reception been?

Jun 7, 2010I got my Evo on Friday, and I'm getting pretty much 0-2 bars no matter where I am in the city. In my office, I get no 4G service. This is odd, because it shows San Antonio to be pretty well covered AND I have a Clear USB modem that I use in my office with my laptop that gets excellent signal. What gives?

Feb 9, 2010My sister just got a brand new Droid about 4 days ago. I noticed when holding both droids next to each other that her Droid always has 1 extra bar of service than mine. I don't understand why?? Like she will have 4 3g bars and i will have just 3. Sometimes if she has 3G but none of the bars are lit, my droid is on 1X. We live in a rural area and 3G coverage is spotty but it works pretty well most of the time. I just don't get why her droid would be getting better reception than mine? My phone does have root installed, but no custom rom or anything. Just a couple mods to the video recording quality and auto hi quality youtube videos. also tried to load the same website on both droids and hers went pretty fast. mine was stuck on 1X.

Jul 28, 2010For the past couple weeks my phone has been acting very strange and has been getting pretty poor recpetion. I run BB.4 and P3Droid 1.0ghz and 3e baseband. I have tried .41 & .43 and did not get any better reception. Basically the issue is i get 3g for a while and all of a sudden i get 1x where i should have full 3g. If i shut my phone off and turn back on I then get 3g service back. I ultimately noticed it while in Chicago and i had terrible service when everyone else had great service. In Chi i went through all the basebands with no luck. Yesterday I restored back to rooted 2.1 by Pete and i still had a issue. So what i am looking for is there any settings i should look for that maybe off. I doubt its a common issue and i want to look at everything before calling to get it swapped out for a like new droid.

Jul 26, 2010I'm finally getting an update on AT&T, and making the switch from the first gen iphone to the Samsung Captivate. My question involves the GPS service on the phone. As i understand it AT&T has an additional fee to use the GPS navigator. What I don't understand is whether or not this fee is to use their GPS program, or for the GPS service itself. For example, if I used Google navigator, or some other app, would I still get a monthly fee? This is my first Android, and first phone with GPS, so I'm still a bit unclear on the concept. Also, years as an Apple/AT&T client has made me distrustful on what I'm paying for. I would greatly appreciate expediency on this, I'm planing to pick up the phone tomorrow, and would like to have a clear idea by then.

Aug 4, 2010I am closing an AT&T family plan and changing it back to one line. AT&T obviously wants to charge me for early cancellation unless I can find someone to transfer the second line to. They said it can be ANYONE. The perk for you is that you would NEVER have to have a contract. They will send me a new sim card, which in turn I would send to you. You would be responsible for getting your own phone. Once you have that, all you need to do is call AT&T and tell them what service you want. Again, best part is no contract.It's called TOBR (Transfer of Billing Responsibility.)

Aug 7, 2010A few minutes ago my signal just showed no service for the second time. It was totally random, just like the last time and I don't think it's an AT&T problem because I was stationary in my house, where I've never seen this happen on my past devices. (Happened a few times on the iphone, but it only showed searching for about a second, then it came right back). On the Captivate it will show no service and won't come back until I reboot the phone. I'm not in a fringe service area (usually have 3 bars of 3g). Has anyone seen this happen on theirs? I'm trying really hard not to return it, but some of the bugs are getting pretty annoying.
I'm going to install CT Scheduler and run a reboot every morning. If it happens again, it may be going back...

Oct 11, 2010I just got the droid incredible a few days ago and have had be reception since where I only get like one or two bars while in town and barely one at my house. I took it to the verizon store in town and they said this county area has the best 3G coverage you can get and can not figure out why I am getting such low bars. They need a roaming update thing twice on my phone but it did nothing. They said I would have to take it into a service station. I was hoping I could find a fix for it on here before doing so since my phone is rooted. also I notice that the antenna is at the bottom of the phone and when holding it there, the reception drops even more.

Sep 19, 2010I got the update this morning and today I am getting really Shity service at home. I used to get great service at home. My wife also has an epic and she got the update this morning too. We put our phones next to each other and she has full bars. I am lucky if I get one. It looses service constantly and is looking for service. Could the update have done this, maybe I just never notcied. Could I have a bad radio?

Jul 16, 2010It seem that other people are having Samsung Galaxy S Reception problems. I unfortunately am one of them. In my bed room I used to get full 3g signal on my old phone, I am lucky if I get 3 bars now. At my dad's house he had 5 bars signal, and he usually is worse signal than me. I at that point had 0 bars, and my phone reported no service. Is this a hardware problem or a software one. I am not sure whether to return the phone or keep it, I really like everything about it, and some lag has been sorted in the custom rom at modaco, however I am not sure whether to try it, cause If I need to return it, I'll have voided my warranty.

Jan 23, 2010Im coming from an HTC Touch hear in Dallas and after a great week with the Moment I am concerned about the radio in this thing. My issue is that I get NO bars at work near DFW Airport. Iv updated the PRL and the latest maint release but the thing still doesn't connect while at work. Any idea for fixing the sensitivity so I can make calls at work? I am sooo tied of hearing the ?Lack of Signal beeps? all day long. Vz droid my co-worker has is solid 4-3 and he laughs at me as he says it must be his coverage map blocking my signal.
I though Sprint could connect on VZ s network?
Samsung Behold 2 :: Behold II Reception Problems
Jun 11, 2010G1 and my Behold 2 her phone had good reception and the behold had nearly none. Half the time I don't get phone calls. They go straight to VM. My roommate's BB pearl gets double the reception mine does. My other roommate's Nokia gets even better reception. All on the T-mo network. Another friend who has a G1 same thing, he has reception I don't. Not to mention the other problems I have had. This is my 3rd Behold II by the way. Been replaced twice and back to Samsung for 3 weeks once.

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

Now I have an AT&T captivate and wonder whether GPS or other apps will work. Does GPS require a data plan to work? If so I'll have to figure out whetted I can add this to my T-D1 plan. Aug 4, 2010Noticed since I work in a rather quiet environment. During office hours I need to keep it on vibrate mode. When the phone vibrates during a call, it causes a severe rattling noise when the phone is in my hands or if the bottom is not resting against a hard object. Removing the battery compartment cover and repeat, and the rattle is non existent. With the battery cover on, the rattle can be diminished by pressing firmly on the top section of the cover.
