View 49 RepliesGot my Behold II 2 weeks back but I do not have data plan. Slowly exploring my 1st antroid phone and enjoying. I tried to use GPS but it won't work; it says, it's not available. Do I need data plan for it to work? Just wondering.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAlright whats up people I was recently searching through and through for a way to get mobile internet without paying that ridiculous android price so as I was searching I stumbled across a regular behold forum at Samsung Behold Forum - New Proxy (TMobileX (Free Internet!)) - UPDATE: Analysis 01.07.10 -> 1500 Users because someone said free internet for it and I gave it a run to see if it would work with our behold 2 and surely enough it does.
Instructions on how to use proxy:
Open up the (default) browser on your Samsung Behold.
Type in the following address into the : tmo-x.co.cc/tmobilex/
Type in the address you want to visit in the form on the page and select whether or not you want to use my HTML trick (free; allows you to see sites in full HTML not 'WAP-stripped').
I got another phone and gave my wife the Behold 2 without data plan. I signed in using my SIM card, then put her SIM in and signed in. So we can dowload apps using wifi (or do I just THINK it's using wifi?) and she gets her gmail. But no apps access the web and can't browse the web.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got no data plan from t-mobile and despite this have been able to access gmail via the gmail app through 3G.Yesterday I was forced to preform a hard reset (volume down+call+end call). After the reset I connected to my Wifi and logged into the Google Network as I did when I initially got my phone.I've found that I can access everything as before including Weather Channel App, My T-Mobile, as well as Sync Calender via 3G, but whenever I try to Sync or Refresh Gmail or Contacts it fails to connect. (I get "! No Connection").
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got new Behold II but I do not have a data plan. Initially, using WiFi, my son logged on to his Gmail account but then I cleared his login within Application settings. Now, I try to login to my Gmail account or Antroid Market but it doesn't work.I keep getting "Cannot establish a reliable connection with server. This could be a temporaty problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data service,. If it continues, call Customer care.Do I have to have data plan? If that's case, how did my son logged on to his account?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am getting Samsung Vibrant to replace my wife's Behold II. She doesn't have a data plan but was able to use Wi-Fi to connect to internet with Behold II. I assume, that's the case with Vibrant too. Does any one know, is that's true? I am sure to get comments from few that what's the point of having smart phone without data plan but my wife doesn't need it and don't want it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I was about to pick up a Captivate today until I spoke with the sales rep about my data plan. I am still using the 1st gen iPhone with the unlimited edge plan. He told me that there was no way for me to use the Captivate with the old plan unless I upgrade to the new ones.
I remember reading online awhile back that used the upgrade path from the 1st iPhone to any of the 3g iPhones, which makes it sound like he is BS'ing. I don't know if it still holds true for the Captivate though.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have searched, but cannot seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I bought the phone unlocked so I'm not held down to their plans, so what do I choose? I want 750-1000 minutes I'd think ( I use around 800 now ) , have to hve unlimited everything else. Currently I have a Tmobile Sidekick LX with 1000 minutes, and unlimited everything and its 69.99 per month.

View 9 Replies View Relatedsince launch day, Sept. 9. Just a heads up for anyone upgrading or opening up a new account to a smart phone. It's up to you, but you just might want to ask and confirm at the Point of Sale if you are indeed on the unlimited data plan.
Received an interesting text msg from Verizon. Turns out my balance is $494.90. Evidently, I've never had a data plan and I've been getting charged for every single Mb.
*611 and CS immediately recognized what happened. I was never put on a data plan at the POS. It's as simple and complicated as that. $340 in data charges. She put me on the $30 unlimited data and credited me the data charges minus the $30 I would've paid this billing cycle.
No big deal except the long wait time over the phone and for some reason it took her another five minutes to do whatever was needed to fix it. Also, it has to be "cleared" first because "of the size of the credit". She'll call me back Sunday(she's off Friday and Saturday... good for her) after 1pm to confirm and tell me it went through.
(We'll see if this gets any votes for dumb question of the week.)I don't have a data plan, nor do I want one. I knew the GPS was problematic on the Galaxy S when I bought it, but I didn't really foresee much GPS use. I'm curious to play with it, but don't know how much I'll actually need it.Am I right in assuming that the basic GPS is separate from 3G in that I can use it to find my location? I understand that overlaying my location on Google Maps needs 3G (unless I'm using WiFi). However, is it also possible to overlay my location on off-line, cached maps like those in MapDroyd and Maps (-)?Also, what privileges/settings do I need for the GPS to communicate with these maps and show my location?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if anyone was able to get their T-Mobile/Motorola Cliq to work on T-Mobile's basic data plan? They now have a specific Android data plan. I can't believe that they raised the data and unlimited text message plan to cost $45/mo. in total for Android phones! I'm using the $19.99 unlimited data/messaging plan now and would like to continue to use it. If anyone has successfully done this, please let me know how you did it.
View 3 Replies View Relatedi need to get some info from you guys. to all who had the unlimited data plan w/ ATT before purchasing this phone, were you all able be grandfathered in to the unlimited data plan or were you forced to take on the new data plan which is limited? ive spoken to several ATT reps and was given mixed information regarding this matter. unfortunately i had to take on the new limited data plan with 2GBs. please give me your comments and insights.
View 40 Replies View RelatedOne of the major reasons I purchased a smartphone was to be able to chat with certain facebook friends in realtime no matter where I am. The AIM app seems to be exactly what I'm looking for.My question is, I have unlimited data, but only 500 texts per month. When conversing with someone on facebook on the AIM app, would that be free or is it charging me a text per message? On a side note, I would also like to be able to send texts to a friend in Europe, but texts don't seem to make it there from the US. I just found this article about sending free texts through AIM, but it's two years old and related to iPhone:Send Free SMS Messages Using the AIM iPhone App.Anyone know if this will work on Android and be free on my end?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWell, right now, I have an iPhone 2G with a 20 dollar data plan that also includes 200 texts. It's part of a family plan, and I'm probably going to go Samsung Captivate or iPhone 4 in a few days. My questions include
1. Can I just use the 20 dollar data plan for the iPhone with that phone, like, without them knowing? Any serious consequences involved with it?
2. Similar to the first question, can I just use the non-smartphone data plan, which is 15 bucks a month, and use that with the Captivate? Would they know which phone is using it?
3. Once I switch to limited data, like 200 MB or 2 GB, can I switch back to unlimited?
I don't pay my own bills, parents do, but don't want to put on an extra 10 or 15 dollars a month right now, just for data, when I could just continue using whatever I'm using.
I went to private AT&T dealer to upgrade my phone, contract has been renewed for 2 years, and that guy changed my unlimited data plan (it was $15/mo too) to the 200MB one. He said my previous unlimited data plan was not for smartphones (actually I did not use AT&T branded phone before Captivate, I bought SonyEricsson X1 for my self), if I chose to upgrade the unknown AT&T phone to captivate, they have to change my data plan to the 200MB limit one. Is his explanation true? I want my unlimited data plan.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFrom what AT&T tells me I can't swap SIM (with an adapter) back and forth or I will lose my unlimited data plan. Is this true? I find that incredibly annoying if so. I want to be able to use whichever phone I want at any given time.
View 10 Replies View RelatedShould I go with the 200MB DataPro or 2GB DataPlus plan? I want to get the 200mb plan but fear going over the limit. I will only browse a few site like sportscenter. Wont be updating status' cause I don't have a facebook. Was wondering if I just do everything that consumes major data at home, which has WiFi I should be good right? On a second note how much data does using GPS every once in awhile?
View 27 Replies View RelatedWith all this talk about people buying the i7500 from Germany; I was wondering if T-mobile has any rules/detection against us using an android phone bought from outside, on the network using a normal voice+data plan like the $30+$10 plan. Because given the price difference of a 2 yr contract a new phone would in theory need to be over $560 before it is no longer worth buying outside. So what is the incentive of getting a simlocked phone, that costs more, and be locked into a 2 yr contract? I guess this applies to some of the other smartphones as well.

Someone confirmed it there. This would make this the only other Tmobile branded android phone to work with the cheap data plan other than the Behold 2.
For how long who knows, the behold 2 has been going on for years, but tmo, nor anyone really cared about that phone
Got the phone on Monday and have just been getting my head around it but mainly at home and on wifi out and about today and realised it just will not use mobile broadband this is despite it being set (I think) to use mobile internet when no wifi. I tried to search and it seems lots of people have some sort of problem like this. when I'm in wireless settings and networks and push the connect to mobile network button, I just get a 'connection failed due to incorrect APN setting message' though having looked at it it looks right general.t-mobile.uk. nothing I do seems to change this (switching wifi off, walking out of range, leaving it on)
one thing I have also noticed though is I have never seen any g,h, e etc by the signal strenth indicator (which is normally only 1 or 2 bars - i.e. poor). so I assume it's just not finding 3g etc signal, despite the t-mobile website mobile broadband checker saying its been good strength in all the places Ive been today! I've also tried repeated power off and on again and airplane mode, then switching this off. this is really winding me up now as its a great phone but not if you cant use it's mobile internet functions when out and about.
