I used to get about 35-40 hours on one charge before the wonderful update to 1.6.I got off the charger at 6am TODAY and now i am at 20%.ridiculous nothing on my phone has changed except the 1.6 update (and some app updates cause 1.6).Anyone else seeing this issue?

I ended up buying a Behold 2 off of ebay (new) and I still sort of have a battery problem after reading and doing most of the tips on here. My phone charged overnight and has been unplugged on standby since 7am (now 2pm) and the battery is at 74%. Is this normal? WiFi/BT/GPS are all disabled, I always kill unnecessary tasks with taskiller but still, any other suggestions?
Also: it's some cool stuff you guys are doing with the galaxy ROM; I tried rooting it last night but got $ when I typed in su instead of #. Oh well, I can wait until the galaxy ROM is 100% working, afaik the vibration still isn't. With classes picking up again next week, vibrate would be my only setting.
Night before last, I charged the battery to 100% before I went to sleep. When I was going to sleep, I unplugged it. When I woke up 7 hours later, it had only dropped 30% to 70%. I did the software upgrade, and the battery jumped back up to 80% and lasted a Long time. Well, last night, I did the same thing, and when I woke up, my battery had dropped to 50%. The phone was supposedly sleeping this whole time! A few minutes on the browser to look up the issue brought me down to 40%.
All I installed yesterday was YellowPages, WhitePages, Flikie (then uninstalled it) and LauncherPro (could this be the culprit?). Before I went to bed though, I opened GMail, and it was having trouble connecting to the server and finally gave me a "retry" button because it couldn't connect. I never pressed it and just went to sleep. WiFi, GPS, everything was off, and the screen was set to lowest brightness (which doesn't even matter here.) Why it dropped so much?
I am using windows 7 64 bit the phone has been rebooted, factory reset, usb debug is on and so is pc studio and I am using the stock theme even though panda is installed. & is recognizing it as a Galaxy but fast boot and adb can't see it. Any one got an idea whats going on? I would like to pull away from the stock from on this good phone.

I charge it fully then after a few text messages it's on 90%. GPS is disabled, battery saver mode enabled, brightness 20%, social apps sync over WiFi only and that is never turned on.

If you want to run your phone twice as fast without rooting, just install PandaHome [free] from the Market. It takes the phone from being utterly dead to very usable. I read there is another home replacement but its not free like pandahome. I like the behold 2 but I'm not sure why samsung decided to destroy a good thing. This could have been a very successful model had they just left the OS alone and not included bloat software.

However, It is draining the battery fast.Using System Info I can see that when LauncherPro is installed android.process.acore is running at 100% CPU yet without it installed it runs at 0%.Any ideas what is occuring and how it can be fixed, or is this normal for LauncherPro?
Something I have noticed - both with and without using an app killer is that when my battery is fully charged, I will have above 180mg of memory available at all times. But as the battery's charge starts to drain down around 50%, my available memory also gets smaller and smaller, despite how many or how little apps are being run.
Has anyone else noticed this and what is preventing it or what wold a fix be?
Been following the forums closely (particularly Early Mon's post found here: ttp://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting-evo-4g/141369-how-fix-froyo.html)I was an early adopter of the 'unofficial' FROYO leak and while i havent had any significant issues (i'd rather wait for fix from HTC) i have suffered from an incredibly leaking battery once its off charge (i use SWITCH PRO WIDGET battery monitor) and it appears that im losing 1% every minute. While i dont mind doing a HARD RESET--its just time consuming reconfiguring some of my apps' settings-I would like to take a less dramatic approach. i know there are proponents on both sides of fence (for HARD RESET and against it) and wanted to know my options.

There are two threads of interest over there:Time without signal > 50% - xda-developers Wow battery from 100 to 10 in 3 hours xda-developers.The short of it is that the 3G signals don't stay locked and the phone keeps hunting.If you go under the battery life settings and click on "Cell Standby" there's a field for "Time Without Service".Mine and many others were hover around 50%.This is constantly draining battery even while you do nothing.So the temporary quick fix is to turn on Airplane mode, then turn it right back off.This fixes some incorrect setting.On my phone, Time Without Service dropped from 52% last night to 0% today.And my battery only dropped about 9-10% idling over night.This is MUCH better than the 30% draining overnight I was seeing over the past few days.

However, when I flashed my first custom rom months ago (CM10.1 nightly), my battery would drain from 100% to 0% in around four or five hours. This was only on light to moderate use, with a bit of Web browsing and Kindle. GPS and mobile data are almost always both off, other than when I need them, and brightness is set at the lowest possible 90% of the time. I checked my battery usage in the settings and there was no evidence of the renowned mediaserver cause of battery drainage, so I'm not really sure what the cause is.
Also, a few days ago my phone began reaching extreme temperatures when I executed any operation on my phone. At the moment I am typing in xda only and my battery is at 111 degrees. I noticed that it began with a certain nightly of Carbonrom and Temasek kernel.
I have done numerous factory resets and flashed different ROMs and even gone back to stock and fully unrooted, but the problem persists.
I got my Samsung Vibrant yesterday and like it a lot. However, I have what I thought was a faulty battery problem. The battery would not charge when hooking it up via USB to my desktop or AC.I took the phone to the Tmobile store and they swapped out the battery for me. The battery runs fine unplugged but as soon as I plug in the USB adaptor it starts losing a % of charge every 10 secs. As soon as I unplug it the draining stops. I called the Tmobile store again and they said it may be the USB adaptor. Well, I have a spare cable. I used it and the same thing happens.Is there something wrong with my phone? Is there a setting I need to adjust? Anyone experienced this yet?

I could plug the charger in at 6:00 when I get up, take it off the charger at 7:30 when I leave for work, and make it til the next morning most days.A couple of weeks ago, I left for work with a full charge, and around 11:00 I took out my phone to test WiFi coverage for some new access points we had installed in the office. The phone felt very warm, and the battery indicator was yellow. For the next couple of days it went like this. I had a spare Samsung battery from when AT&T sent us a new one for my wife's Captivate when she was having random shutdown issues, so I swapped batteries. Things were fine for 10-11 days. Then suddenly last evening about 7:30, when I went to look something up online with my phone, it was very warm again, and the battery indicator was red. Had to put it on the car charger when I left church.When I got home, I put it on the charger all night. By midday today, it was in the yellow, and it finally died about an hour ago. again the handset felt very warm. I don't have a spare USB cable here at work, so will have to wait to get home to charge it. Anything particular I should look for on the phone (running apps, etc.)? Or do I just need to go ahead and place a call to AT&T support?

View 9 Replies View RelatedThere seems to be lots of discussions on Battery life, so I did a test myself. I was getting about the same battery life as everybody else, about 6-7 hours with moderate usage. Which is what all the beta testers were getting pre release. I thought I would give something a try. First of all, when I picked up the phone it was about 75% charged. I charged it to 100%, and let it go down to about 30% that first day and then charged it. I followed this everyday for the first week, and was still getting the same battery life out of it. I never allowed the device to completely drain and shut off. Well I gave that a shot, and what did I find, My battery is lasting much longer, like doubled. So give this a try. I let the phone die, completely die so it shuts off. Then charge it 100% overnight. Worked for me, don't know if it will work for you, but give it a shot.

Having an issue where after boot and sometimes all of the sudden during the day, the phone gets hot and battery level drops l like ton of bricks. Using Android Task Manager App and enabling monitor of system processes and selecting realtime monitor, I've traced the problems to "android.process.media". This appears to be something to do with Android scanning the device for media files (audio/video/etc) and creating some sort of database. I also usually see the "Music Enhancer" process which has to do with Beats Audio according to HTC (but I have Beats turned off.)
I've seen old threads of people with same problem and in some cases it had to do with a "corrupted" media file and they had to remove all media files and/or factory reset their device. I just spent an entire weekend customizing this device! Plus, how the heck do you prevent yourself from copying the corrupted file over if it was a corrupted mp3 or something?
I'm pretty sure my issue stems from the fact I used my media manager (Media Monkey) to sync over 2,800 audio files to the device. My collection is of high bitrate quality, about 16GB worth of music. I'm pretty sure this is what it is choking on. What I'm not sure of is if the Media Scan the Android device is performing is just a "normal check" for changes/addition/deletions to any of the media files. This of course would take a lot of time and CPU if it has to scan 2,800 files every reboot or periodically. It seems launching Google Play sometimes starts it too as I also sometimes see Google Play Service:Music or something like that (even though I don't stream any of my audio from Google Play.)
The version of the software that is most current is version 6 (the phone shipped with version 3).

I was told that the reason that I keep seeing the "No update file exists" message when I check "update firmware" is because I have the latest version.
At some point my phone was updated without giving me a message. I did notice the red and blue arrows yesterday. But there was no message. My SD card mounted and dismounted on its own and gave an error message, and then all references to the error and SD card disappeared.
If your phone is/has exhibited this sort of behavior, you may already have the update.
I was wondering of those of you that pushed this file on the galaxy 12 rom, did you notice a big difference in your battery life?

But now the battery seems to deplete extremely fast even when i dont use it at all.For example it is fully charged in the morning and in the afternoon its one bar down even though i dint use it at all.i run taskiller to moniter running programs and have only wifi on. Is it some app i downloaded? Please help i dont know what to do.

I am using taskiller to kill any not needed background apps and normally have over 120mb left in RAM. Any tips on what I can do to fix this? I'm trying to hold off rooting until I get the t-mobile update. Also, does the phone normally give inaccurate battery readings to the widgets? Because I am literally looking at the phone and watching the percentage go up... up 6 percent in the last hour. lol anyone else getting this?
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have an interesting problem. for some reason, when i charge my phone while off, it will only charge itself to 96%, and will only charge to 100% while turned on. i noticed this and figured that maybe i did not fully charge it before i flashed it last time, so i repeated the process and got it to a "true" 100% (i know this because when i plugged it in, it immediately said battery full, as opposed to before i discovered this when after charging (while off) and it said battery full i'd pull the battery then reinsert, it would begin charging again) i then reflashed (warheads). i now run my battery until it dies completely, then charge while off (still only get to 96%), but when it finally gets to 100%, the "battery left" widget says less and less time left each time i charge. (the first time it said 24hrs, then it went to 22, then to 18, then 16, now its 14)what have i done wrong? and does anyone have ideas on how to fix this one?

When I check "Battery use", I see a bunch of programs in there, without turning them on or using them like Android OS, Media, Swype, Market, Dialer ... In Twiz, even when wifi is on, it won't actually connect unless I manually connect it and it disconnects when the screen is automatically turned off. I had great battery life.
I drained the battery and recharged before I flashed ODIN. I pretty much did everything the same way as the previous times I flashed a new rom. I drained the battery again but that didn't seem to help.
I installed Advanced Task Killer. A while after I kill selected apps (a long list), the apps tend to turn on on their own. I had unchecked "Background data" but that didn't help either. Wifi connects unless I literally turn it off. (That wasn't the case.)
Is there a few check marks that I miss?

This was mostly because I'd previously been using an archaic piece of crap and hadn't had any experience with Android, so I was pretty blown away by the customization and yada yada yada. Touchwiz didn't even bother me because I've never seen Android without that UI. Then the battery issues started, which a few other people have obviously had judging by the threads on this forum. I was losing roughly 1% of battery power every 5 minutes without me even touching it, which is absolutely ridiculous. I followed the basic procedure and turned everything off, etc., and am recharging it now. So, waiting to see if it gets any better. But it seems like a hassle to have to constantly keep wifi disabled or to take all the widgets off the home screen......
View 16 Replies View RelatedAs I just got my phone with installed rom 1.6 for the Behold 2, I am frustrating when the battery life drains so fast after last night. I was playing a bit with the WiFi and the battery status bar was still less then half bar. After I woke up today, the battery has shown that the battery is less than 5%. I did turn off my WiFi and using only 2g network to save battery life. I clicked on "why", it showed the Green Bar with the word Android System 95%. What does this mean and how can I save more battery life since I don't use it the whole night. So the phone suppose to be less than half bar battery life at least.
1.Putting the phone in sleep can save battery life or not on the Behold II?
2.What are some ways that can save the battery life on the Behold II?
3.Does the charging technique can at least save some part the of the battery life? If so , How do I charge my Behold II ? Leaving it all drain out, turning off the phone and then charge it ?
