True, I AM using Handcent SMS. But occasionally (maybe once or twice a week, probably more that I don't know about) someone will send me a text and I'll never get it.Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

I'm new to Android as I just got the Nexus One. On my previous flipphone, when I get a text message, it will make the ringtone sound a 4 or 5 times. My question is how to set android to do multiple rings for texts instead of once? Also, is there a way to make it sound the notification ringtone for texts only, and not for app alerts, like the weather channel widget?

By the way, my iPhone is jailbroken so I can easily export the sms.db file where all the messages is stored.
On my old phone (unlocked iPhone),I subscribed to news and weather updates via SMS from a local radio station. The shortcode is 411923.Then I got Nexus One (same T-Mobile service and SIM) and still receive the messages from them. Well, one day, there was a big news day (chile earthquake?) and I was getting annoyed by them, so I was gonna reply with "STOP" like you do with most short codes.The Nexus absolutely refuses to even attempt to send this number a text. It won't even try. It immediately shows the "message failed <!>" notification and sound.I can send to various other shortcodes, but this and a few others, the Nexus won't try.I am sure I could get another T-Mobile phone and swap SIMs to do it from that phone.I am just wondering what is the problem?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.
1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
If I need to paste text from another app in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SII, O2, Jelly Bean), like from Google Keep or Docs, into a text message it tends to convert from an SMS to MMS. This leads to a charge for me as my SMS messages are included in my tariff but I have no allowance for MMS messages. I presume that this might be something to do with character encoding or other formatting data that is pasted in, but that is only a guess.
Is there any way to stop short messages from being converted to MMS messages like this:? I couldn't find any 'paste clipboard as plain text' option in Android Jelly Bean.
I have recurring problem where my phone will appear to have service (x>2 bars) but when I try to send a text message and even call it will give me an alert saying the text message never send or the call will automatically end before connecting. No matter how many times I resend the message, it will not send unless either wait about an hour or restart my phone. I'm pretty sure it's not the phone, however, because my last phone, a Motorola RIZR, did the same thing (I kept my same T-mobile plan). I'm wondering if it's just a network problem or something else?

I rarely talk to this person, except thru FB. the mesg came in at 4-5 am, was not titled and had an attachment. Not thinking anything of it, I opened the attachment. Nothing happened, and the notification for the MMS, and the MMS itself disappeared. Vanished. no where.I messaged the friend about it and she said that she has no record of sending me a mesg at all. My battery seems to be draining really quickly. I had it on the charger all day at work, and went to lunch and noticed that I'm at 30% and dropping really quickly since being off the charger.does froyo have a security hole? is there a virus out there? anyone else experience something like this? should I start to be worried.

I already have three phones on Verizon so adding a fourth would be easy enough. I actually had the T-Mobile version but radio performance was horrid (no signal in places where an unlocked iPhone was able to make calls) and I'm hoping that on the Verizon network the radio issues will be solved. I don't remember having trouble with email, but I had the phone for such a short time (under a day) I can't remember if I had email issues.

I just received a replacement N1 because my original unit accumulated quite a bit of dust under the screen. Anyway, ever since I transitioned to the replacement unit I've been noticing some strange behavior in my Gmail accounts, namely the fact that all my new email messages are being automatically marked as read. It doesn't happen immediately as best as I can tell, but probably in the neighborhood of 30-60 minutes after they are received.Has anyone else ever come across this issue and can advise me of a solution?

This is starting to really bother me.I txt a lot during the day and it is taking longer and longer for the txt to send through and obviously the problem of clicking on a message list and another message list coming up.I am just getting really frustrated with the txt messaging on this phone.Handcent doesn't seem to help either, still have slow/lag on that application.

I've also experienced receiving 10 messages at once bc they were not coming through. Finally, I am sometimes not receiving a message or two. I was with Verizon previously for about 10 years and did not experience an issue. Do I have a Sprint problem or an Evo problem.

It's fine when I have the ringer turned up, but when I am in a movie or somewhere where I have my phone on vibrate, it doesn't vibrate when I receive a text message. Does anyone know how to make it vibrate when receiving a text message when the ring volume is on vibrate, and not vibrate when receiving a text message when the ring volume is up?

When I try to text here it lags like crazy (I assume because it has all the messages on that page). I'm having a problem receiving text messages on my HTC Hero. I'm getting a notification alert, but no message. I'm presuming that its not that I have 150 messages (as a dialogue) saved on the phone, as my old bog standard basic Nokia smartphone at present has over 2000 messages saved. So why arent my messages being received?

I used to be able to send pics in text messages, but the last few I sent come up as sent but with a speech bubble and clock symbol on it. And these pic messages with this symbol aren't being received by the person I'm sending them to.I can't figure out what its all about.
