Android 2.0.1 provides the feature to slide to turn sound on or off in the unlocking screen, but it seems it isn't possible to turn to vibra mode in this way. Does anyone have some idea?

After upgraded to 2.0.1, the screen unlock always give me phone vibration. Does anyone know how to disable the energy-spending vibration from Setting? I could disable the 4 soft buttons vibration but I don't know how to disable this.As I remember, there is no such vibration in version 2.0.

Here is something interesting about the Milestone. Enable Airplane mode, put it on the charger over night. Wake up to find your Milestone drained. This happens with my Blackberry Curve as well. Airplane mode drains the battery faster than its being charged. Has anyone else seen this? Or am i just getting lucky twice?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Motorola Milestone UK version with AT & T. G Mail and Yahoo etc work fine. Data plan also work perfect wih At&T 2G. AT&T 3 G can not use with Milestone because 3 G band of AT & T is not supoerted by Milestone.
However, real problem is that when I call anybody, he always finds my voice breaks on Milestone. When I switch to speaker they find my voice perfect. I can hear their voice clearly. Any body has same problem.
Secondly, I would like to dowload "Car Home" app which is available with Droid. It is not available in Market place. When I try to see how it is intsalled in my friend's droid, it shows 0 KB. Does this app is part of Android for Verizon. When I dock the phone in Car dock, as I dont have Car home app so phone does not pop up Navigation window which is part of Car Home. I can use Google Map manually. This is not big problem.
I just got my Milestone (aka Droid in the US) and want to write a simple app to ulock the screen touching one of the soft buttons, ala Hero. I looked into the Android API and could not find a helpful one, could someone enlighten me?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAlso the softkey buttons stay lit up above the trackpad. Running Frankenrom right now but also had it on the new deodexed leak. Reboot cures it for quite awhile, but it seems to return eventually. I think it's possible it might be due to creating a custom profile in SetCPU for "Screen Off" mode. Just wanted to verify if anybody has pinned it down yet. Happens both when charging and during normal use.

Only problem is that I have set up my work e-mail (which sits on a server and is a POP-3 account I think!...can you tell I'm not technical?!?!) using the in-built client on the phone, trouble is that it keeps crashing and has to do a force close on me pretty much every time. I've looked for this same topic in the forum but cant find anything which answers the issue. Is the next software release likely to fix this bug?

View 16 Replies View RelatedI had an application installed and working perfectly. an updated came, it download it, and start the installation, and since then it is in "installing" permanently. nothing i've done, removed it.I've removed the application from the phone, reboot the phone, took out the battery, restart it again, still it appears as "installing" I've done the suggested things here in the forum (clearing the cachge, etc) nothing helps!I have a motorola milestone with android 2.1 version.

I have an android application that I want to always be running in landscape mode.
I have the following code implemented to keep the app in landscape mode all the time:
inside my activity in the Application Manifest
android:screenOrientation="landscape"
This seems to launch and keep the application in landscape view for the whole duration of the application. Perfect!
However, if I have the app running on my HTC Aria (Android 2.1) and the phone locks, if I unlock the phone, I see the application for probably half a second and it's in portrait orientation and then quickly switches back to landscape mode. It is quite frustrating because all of my views are jumbled around and it looks unprofessional as you can imagine. This happens in both the emulator and on my real phone.
Does anyone know how to stop the application from temporarily rotating when the phone is unlocked?
I have tried overriding onConfigurationChanged() but with no success.
I have also tried putting setRequestedOrientation(ActivityInfo.SCREEN_ORIENTATION_LANDSCAPE); into the onResume() but the app still shows as the incorrect orientation for a split second when the phone is unlocked.
The new update came in this morning and i was wondering if there are any settings for the unlock screen to tone down the vibratouch when unlocking.?Also is there a setting to do the same for the 4 touch buttons?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell, what happened was my screen turned blank. I could not turn off the phone. It was just blank. The buttons on the bottom of the phone will light on and off when pressing the power button. What am i suppose to do in this situation or any other situation where my Droid isnt acting right? Well, i didnt know what to do so i just took out the battery and put it back in. I am not sure if thats the proper way of doing it. I hope my phone will be okay after that. So, whats the right way of going at it?
View 10 Replies View Relatedis it possible to manually rotate the screen or fix the current screen orientation (with a key/button)? because it really annoys me having taken portrait pictures that cannot be viewed (with the media gallery application) in a portrait fashion on the milestone. this is because it always rotates the portrait picture back to landscape when rotating the milestone from landscape to portrait. right now there is no way of properly viewing portrait pictures on the milestone other than tilting your head (holding the milestone landscape and tilting your head along).this cannot be the way it was intended to be, right? or do I have to get a different viewing software which allows you to choose screen orientation? is there such an app?

1. Enable Flight Mode
2. Turn Off the phone
3. Turn on the phone
4. Disable Flight Mode
-You see the 3G icon appear now. Try accessing the internet, go to the browser, or sync your email - it does not work.
5. Turn off the phone
6. Turn on the phone
-- Now everything should be working as normal
I tried it a couple of times again to be sure and every time the issue occurs. There was no wifi access when I tried the above.
So I'm traveling next week to Mexico and don't want to get all the roaming charges so my question is does turning on WiFi mode turn off 3G and EDGE? Also, what does airplane mode exacly turn off? And is there anyway just to turn off the phone mode? My last Samsung phone was a smart phone and I had the option to just turn the phone off and not everything else.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got my Milestone from Telus here in Canada. When the phone powers up, two 'sliding' buttons appear. A green one on the left to unlock the phone, and another one on the right to silence it.
When holding the phone in one hand, the green unlock button is too low on the screen for a comfortable flick with the thumb. If it were on the upper third of the screen instead of the lower third, this would be much easier.
Any way to move it higher on the screen?
