Apr 3, 2010Anyone use google latitude? I have been messing with it and since 2.1 it will not update friends location. Anyone else have that issue.

Motorola Droid X :: Google Latitude Update Location When Only Google Map App Opens
Jul 23, 2010When I had Google Latitude on my Crackberry it updated my location on a timed interval in the background, on the Droid X it only updates when I open the Google Map app, is there anyway to have it update in the background?

Jul 31, 2010It used to work fine but about 3 months ago it had just stopped updating on either of our phones. I have a friend on my friends list and his latitude position updates on my phoned fine (although her has disappeared also in the last few days also). The only way I can get too see my wifes location oon my phone is for her to open google maps on her phone to update her position. The same is true for her to see my location on her phone. No settings have been changed so I don't know what had happened, does anyone know how to fix this bug?

Mar 6, 2009Ever since the RC33 update where the new Maps version came out with Latitude included....my Latitude acct has been...well...off.
I'm running my GPS when Maps is used...rather than a triangulation method w/ the towers. However...there have been QUITE a few occurances where Latitude shows me in a totally different STATE. I live in metro Atlanta, but apparently, I spend a lot of time at a country club near DFW in Texas. Once, I was going down the road...started up Maps, and it was tracing me going up an interstate in a city 120 miles away from me. At the time, I was no where NEAR an interstate...but Maps was showing my movement second by second.
This is rather irritating. Google developed the O/S, they developed Latitude...yet Latitude seems to work fine on other phones OTHER than the G1. Upon reading up on Google's Help Forums...I'm not the only one with problems when it comes to Latitude and Android.

Android :: Update Google Latitude Location From 3rd Party Phone App?
May 7, 2010I am working on an app that uses the GPS on my g1. I'm wondering if it is possible that when I am using the app I can have it update my Google Latitude location every x number of minutes. Any thoughts on how this may be accomplished?

Jul 27, 2010I am using Google Latitude and my location updates are very infrequently.
My update reach from half and hour to 7 hours. Often it only updates every 3 hours. My battery is full to 3/4 at this time.
According to Google the updates depend on how often you move and how strong your battery is, but the update will never take longer than 1 hour.
Do you guys experience the same problem?
Motorola Droid :: Google Latitude - Running In Background?
Feb 25, 2010I use Google Latitude with several friends, but have noticed that when I run it in the background, my last know location on the friends phone shows where I "stopped" but never updates. Example: I leave my house with Google Maps/Latitude running and decide I want to listen to DroidLive. Once I switch to DroidLive it appears that Latitude stops broadcasting my locations and my friends see that I'm in the middle of a highway for 30-40 minutes until I kill my music and go back to the maps. Is this a known "bug" or is it something that just doesn't work? I thought that the processes would continue to work, but I might be wrong. I also notice that when launching another app while in Google Maps that my GPS indicator also stops until I get back into the Maps.

Aug 21, 2010I used to really love the Latitude interface, when I clicked on a friend in Latitude, I got a screen with many options, including Navigate to, send text, etc.
One really cool feature on this screen was "what's nearby" which showed stores etc. that were near my friend.
Also, the background was black and the text was white.
NOW (after the last update): I lost the "what's nearby" feature AND the background is white and the text is black.
What can I do? Is there a way to revert maps to the older release?

Aug 18, 2010I want to keep Google Voice 3.4 b/c it uses one number for all my calls (which = free with Verizon's friends and family) instead of 4.x using different static numbers. How can I stop it from updating?I keep deleting the 4.x .apk via Root Explorer and installing the 3.4 apk, but it's a pain.

Google Talk photos are not updated to reflect my Google Account.i.e. Some people have no photo displayed on the phone, but on my computer (in my Google Account) there is actually a photo, whether it be one the user selected or I set for them. And the photos that are there are not updated when/if someone changes it. The old one remains there.
2. Google Latitude photos do just the same. They are not updating... Anyboy experiencing similar problems, or have a fix? The photos seem to update, but slower in my contacts (People). But they don't update in the Google-based apps, which is wierd.

Oct 29, 2010In system settings, I have Use GPS satellites unchecked but Enable assisted gps checked.Now on my old blackberry, if I didn't have gps turned on, it would still find my approximate location to about a mile using cellular networks. Dec 29, 2009I have the moto droid and my girl has the eris. I was trying to get latitude to work on her eris, but when you click menu when in google maps and you hit latitude, nothing happens. Every once in a while, I notice my battery draining faster than usual and I check my Latitude settings and there it is. Latitude has changed it's location update settings to "automatically update".
I swap sim cards out quite often as I travel between a few countries for work. Is that the cause?

Jul 24, 2010Anyone having trouble with widgets stop updating? Like my clock/calendar/weather/news/pretty much any widget i have stops updating after an hour. So i look at my clock widget two hours later and it is an hour behind. Happens to ALL my widgets.Even the quick turn on/off wifi,bt,gps and such. They just stop updating/showing animation.I have ADW launcher installed. I am wondering if it is that. I do not really want to remove it as i hate the stock 3 button interface at the bottom (why do i need a contacts and phone, just use the phone to look thru contacts, wasted space IMO) and am quite keen on keeping the 5 button.Any ideas? If i power off the phone and turn it back on it's fine again for about an hour. SOmetimes randomly thru the day it will start updating and working fine again then randomly stop again.
