Jan 20, 2010Anyone else's droid just not do anything after selecting "connect" in the wireless settings screen? mine just scans and scans and then fails.

Motorola Droid :: Wifi Not Connecting To WPA
Jul 26, 2010I have a feeling my problem is the router and not my Droid, but I thoght I would try anyway.
I have 2 networks that I conenct to at my work. An open network and a secure one.
The open network, which has weak signal, I have no problem connecting to.
However, when I try to connect to the secure network, which i have great signal, I get "Disabled, secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK". I am positive I have the right password.
The strange part is I have had my Droid for less than 2 weeks. Before I had an Eris and would connect to that network everyday without any problems. But have never been able to connect with my Droid once I dont think anything has changed with that router, but i cant say for sure.
Any ideas as to why the Droid wont connect? Unfortunately, i dont have access to the routers settings. Unless I really had to, i can try to access it early in the morning

Aug 1, 2010When I turn on wifi it won't connect to my remembered network unless I go into wifi setting. Anyone else having this problem? Also when I get a call the bluetooth button on the bottom left won't turn bluetooth on. I guess it just tells you if its connected but it really should turn it on and connect.

Aug 19, 2010I have a simple app that just initiates a wifi scan every two seconds and then logs the results. I am observing some strange behaviour, and was wondering if anyone could shed some light. When I start scanning, if the phone (Nexus One running latest Froyo OTA release) is just sitting on my desk (screen on or off, it doesn't matter), I receive the wifi scan results about 800ms after initiating the scan, fairly consistently. At most, it takes a second and a half to receive the results. However, if I get up and start to walk around the building that I'm in, the time between initiating the scan and receiving the result begins to vary greatly. What is interesting is that I start to see a pattern where it will take about 40 seconds to receive results, then I will get three or four results two seconds apart, then it takes 40 seconds to receive the next set of results, then I get three or four results two seconds apart, etc.
I've tried obtaining a wifilock, both the FULL and SCAN ones, and that doesn't help. Same with a partial wakelock. I've also tried setting up a thread that pings the supplicant every second and reports when it is unreachable, and it appears to always be responsive (ie., I never see the report). I thought that maybe the problem was that I am unable to receive the result of scans when I am switching between base stations (which might happen when I move around), but if I manually switch between two different networks, it does not cause a delay in my scans (ie., I can still get the results with only a one second delay while it's associating with the new network). Anyway, for my application, it would be incredibly useful to get wifi results at a fairly consistent rate, and so I was hoping that someone on this list might have some suggestions as to how I can achieve this.

Sep 3, 2010I enjoyed my wifi internet with X10 when i first installed my wifi router, and as well as my other devices.However, my X10 is not working at all with my home wifi at all anymore, well.. you can imagine that my all other devices are working perfectly. also, I have tested in my parents, in-laws, at work, Mccas or wherever I could test my wifi on X10 works. but not at home.I am just thinking it's maybe the network setup.. or something.. but how come all other devices are working fine? and all my test places have passed?

Jul 16, 2010Anyone have a problem connecting to a network with a hidden SSID? My wife can connect to our router fine with her Droid INc (wireless N router). But i can't unless i enable broadcasting the SSID. I found the hidden SSID enabler app, and going to try that. If that doesn't work does anyone else have any ideas? If i enable SSID broadcast i connect right away. If i disable it, i lose the connection and it is "out of range". Very annoying as i live in a condo unit with 10 other wifi networks in my range. Would like to keep my netwrok as private as possible.

Sep 29, 2010When I first got my X it allowed me to manually choose to connect to wifi but lately it just auto connects and I cant turn it off if im in a wifi area. This puts a huge drain on my battery. I'd prefer to have the OPTION to connect to wifi if/when i want to and to use the 3G network otherwise. Any idea how I can address this issue? Aug 20, 2010When I try to connect to my University's network , the my Galaxy S is able to connect JUST fine. However, when I open a browser it says the incoming certificate is not secure and then I have NO INTERNET on any page. It tries to redirect me to the login page for the network but fails to do so with a "communications error" and subsequent no internet access of any sort.
What the network is supposed to do is redirect me to the login page so that I can register the device to the network and login using my university account. My phone can't do that apparently and just sits connected to the network with NO INTERNET connectivity.
This is the university network and the instructions how to get on it for Android devices: [URL] .... I connect to it just fine but am UNABLE to get to that device registration/login page.
This is NOT just for my university. ANY public network which requires me to accept an "agreement" before it lets me have internet access, my phone KILLS ITSELF and CANNOT pull up the agreement page but instead tells me there is no internet. I'm SURE its a software problem or something with settings but can't figure out just what it is.
Just about the only networks I can connect to on Wi-Fi are home networks.
Motorola Droid :: Updated 2.01 Now Verizon Sync Fails
Dec 9, 2009Anyone else having this problem? I force updated to 2.01 and all is well except for my Verizon.net email account wont sync. In settings/accounts.sync I get a sync error message under my Verizon account and a red sync circle. I get an error message at the bottom.of the screen saying- Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly. My Gmail account shows no error. I have had this error since updating to 2.01. Previously my Verizon account had no sync errors.Anybody else getting this error?

Feb 7, 2010I am a new Motorola Droid user. My phone came with 2.0.1 installed. I installed Instant Root 1.04 and attempted to run it but got a message "unble to gain access". I started down this road because I wanted to backup my phone so I could do a hard reset. So installed "Titanium Backup". It wouldn't run because my rom wasnt rooted. So i have spend 4 hours researching and each item i find leads me to another issue or program to install. Most everything seems to involve rooting. One question I have is if there is a difference between 2.0.1 preinstalled an 2.0.1 ota?
For background I wanted to reset the phone because none of the 3rd party contact or phone dialing packages will read the native phone list or contacts. I owned a Omnia i910 and did a considerable amount of customization on it to I am reasonably familiar with digging around in the guts for a general user.
HTC Desire HD :: Not Connecting To WiFi
Nov 16, 2010I'm having an issue with my new Desire HD in that it won't connect to my home Wifi. It can find the network no problem and select it, but after I type in the password it says "Disconnected" then seems to go through Disconnected-Scanning-Connecting-Disconnected loop without letting me know whats happening. Initially I thought to myself "Perhaps it doesn't like WPA2", so I completely opened up the network. Then after scanning, it was showing on the phone that the network was still WPA/WPA2. I tried connecting to it anyways but it still asked me for a password and wouldn't let me through without one. Thinking something funky must have happened, I restarted the phone but it didn't change anything.

I just got the HTC Evo 4G yesterday and rooted it using the Unrevoked method (not sure if there is another). I then downloaded the Wireless Tether for root users. For some reason i cant get anthing to recognize it. I've tried looking for the signal with my ipod and laptop but nothing! What setting needs to be changed? I have tried to find this issue on other posts, but nothing.

I can connect to my Wifi at my uni address with no problems, so it is obviously a fault with the wireless rather than the phone.
The phone asks for the WEP password which I put in correctly, it then says "obtaining IP address" only to return with 'unsuccessful' or 'disconnected' - which may indicate that there is some security that is stopping the phone connecting?
