View 21 RepliesI am delighted we have a player for Audible books for our Droid. it is a Beta player but looks and functions really well.Have always loved audible books while driving now I can take my nx trip and only have to take along ONE gizmo.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAudible selections do not make any sounds anymore. It was working fine today; later on, however, I had suddenly noticed that whenever I touch various buttons, icons, widgets, etc. on the screen, there was no audible sound. I tried rebooting, but that did not help at all. Also tried unchecking & checking the Audible Selection box, problem still remained.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHas anyone noticed problems with audible alerts not working? I can be sat in a quiet room in the middle of an email or SMS conversation and when I check the display there is visual notification of a new message but the phone hasn't made a sound.Completely maddening. If it continues I will return the phone as it is not fit for purpose.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to receive any sort of audible notification if you receive an SMS while in a call? I have found a dead thread from march with someone asking this on a G1, and they received no reply. I have a Moto Droid on Verizon, and the green light blinks if I am in a call, but there is no way to notice that with the phone stuck to my face. Does anyone know of a setting or an app to make this happen? I am sorry if this is a novice question, but this is truly driving me nuts. I have tried installing a few third party SMS apps like SMSPopup to see if they would help, but alas, nothing has worked.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy wifes music player on her eris is not recognizing all of her music: certain songs when started it will say sorry the player does not recognize this media. Does anyone have any suggestion? I've already tried deleting all her music, and then reloading of the computer and still no luck.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI fooled with the Gmail app a bit yesterday, and came to the conclusion that I only get a single audible notification for multiple e-mails, even when they are spread out over many minutes. Going in to the Gmail app and viewing new e-mails seems to be the only thing which resets things so that a new audible alert occurs. (BTW, the testing was performed by sending e-mail from a PC using a non-Gmail account.)Anyone else notice this? Clearing notifications in the notification panel doesn't seem to affect things - I was only able to trigger a new audible alert if I went into the app and opened one of the e-mails.Note that I could observe the same behavior even if the phone wasn't sleeping (e.g. powered by the USB, "never sleep" policy, and with the ddms monitor running).Seems like this should be reported as a bug - if I am purposefully ignoring my phone for whatever reason, there's no way I can tell the difference between one arriving e-mail or twenty.
Separately, I tried to answer the question, "does Gmail push?", but couldn't come to a definitive conclusion - the behavior doesn't seem to be "simple". With only WiFi turned on (even with a "never sleep" WiFi policy), I could observe rather long delays (> 20 min) between sending of e-mail and receipt of email on the handset. (I could do this without touching the handset by passively sniffing WiFi packets "off the air").
The handset does initiate a long-lived TCP connections to Google's servers, and if new mail comes in within five or ten minutes, it is apparent that it is the Google side of thing that starts talking on the idle (virtual) circuit. So, that's a kind of "push"; OTOH, it also looks like the Google servers will time out that virtual circuit (sends TCP reset) after 15-20 minutes.I don't have a way to trace things with WiFi turned off and Mobile Network on - the first thing event that seems to show up (with each new e-mail) in the ddms monitor is activity tagged with "GTalkService". This seems to happen more repeatedly - I only saw delays of 90 seconds or so when using the Mobile Network exclusively.
Is there a way to turn off the audible notification when I get a new gmail? When I first bought the eris, I would get email audible notification all the time, during sleep and work hours. Email is not important to me.I now have gmail notification disabled. So no more annoying audible notifications. But I would still like to get a notification icon without the sound. Is this possible? maybe install a 3rd party email app?
Last night, my app was working just fine streaming audio files with the MediaPlayer in my app. I came into work this morning and it wont play any audio file and I havent changed my code at all. here is the error log that it is printing out via LogCat. Also, the audio file still exists and plays fine on anything else.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you've been waiting for audible to hit android like I have, then I have some good news if you subscribe to the US audible site.Unfortunately, it only supports the american site so far, but apparently the other sites are coming soon. I'm still downloading a book atm, but from what I've seen, the app is pretty sweet.

When the stock Android media player is playing a song, if you tap the album art box, you will discover that the Droid X has a visualizer for your viewing pleasure.
View 18 Replies View RelatedToday I carried out check to see if any updates were available. Much to my excitement I noticed that 2.2 was there so I carried out the download. I now have WiFi hotspot, flashtorch, 720p camcorder and applications sharing available in my apps list. The problem stems when I go to view just in TV or BBC iplayer and I am told that my device does not support flashplayer. I have checked and adobe flashplayer is there when I go to manage applications. When I click on it takes me into it but all options to click on are shaded and I cant do nothing about it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC EVO. I switched from the iPhone. I know the music player probably isnt as good, but all I want to do is listen to my music. Now the problem I am having is this. I put about 4gb of music on it. I go to play it and it works fine, for one song. I start the music and just want to let it play, but after the one song plays it starts the next one in line and about half way through, it stops. EVERY SINGLE TIME!! The only way it will stay playing, is if I change the songs one by one myself. I have tried different music player apps, and nothing seems to work. Is there something wrong with my phone, or is there just a setting i can change?

View 5 Replies View Relatedso every time i go online to try to watch a video, it goes into the streaming video player or w/e and it says; Cannot play video sorry, this video cannot be played.okay well some might think that my phone cant play this video, but no, their wrong because like last week it was working, same site and everything.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhat is everyone's recommendation for video player apps? I tried a few last night (Act 1, Meridian, mVideoPlayer, stock) and wasn't 100% sold on any of them. mVideoPlayer was probably the most impressive, but none of them saved where I was on exit.Basically, I have two wants from an app:
1) Saved where I left off
2) Turn off the button lights during playback
I'd prefer free, but wouldn't we all.As a side note, I played a movie I converted with Handbrake and it looked amazing. Had only one lip-sync loss and it was fixed by pausing and restarting.
Is the droid ever going to be able to see flash player? Adobe now states "not available for your device" when it used to say "coming soon".
View 39 Replies View RelatedI know better than to install these leaks as they are buggy, but I've never had one brick my phone like this. I was listening to the music player and now can't get the program to shut down. It won't force close, I shut it down and pulled the battery, when it re-boots it comes on again and the whole system goes fubar. I can't make calls or anything.
