I have a new phone coming in two days due to a flaky usb connector causing charging problems.
I have Appbrain and BackupAssistant installed and plan to re-use my existing SD card, which it appears some programs use to store settings. I have exported from programs that allow (like Folder Organizer) and have recent screen shots. I also have a backup with Titanium Backup.

After many weeks of waiting and my fiasco almost switching to an Incredible, my X finally arrived today. I'm new to the forum but have been reading around since ordering my phone. I don't intend to root at the moment because it's not what i need and I want to see how I like froyo. I will be using launcher pro but I really want these, or similar, dock icons but can't seem to locate them. I don't need to root or anything to get the completely transparent dock background do I? And for those with macs, what do you feel that the best way to move things between your phone and mac are? I plan on using double twist unless someone can mention something they feel is better!
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust curious, I ordered a new Droid X and it will be here in couple of days and I wanted to know if I can either uninstall my paid apps from my original Droid and then install them onto my Droid X or is there a way to move them over to my new X. I only have a few paid apps. Documents to Go Pro, Weather Bug Elite, Remote VNC Pro, but didn't want to have to pay for them again, if they can be moved over.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having an issue with my stock Settings manager being missing after a miss-click by my girlfriend when she was using my phone. She accidentally hit the "Install" for the FRG22d when I had my droid running the original 2.2 rooted. It installed, and came back up. Root was gone, and so was the option to use Settings. It still shows when I hit the menu button, but if I select it, nothing happens. And it is also no longer listed in my app drawer now. I re-rooted my phone hoping it would bring it back, but it's still gone. Can I reinstall the APK for it? If so, how would I go about doing that?
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I tried to activate my phone, it wouldn't work. So I called Verizon from my landline and I told them and they had me activate it manually. They had me type in some random string of numbers to the phone dial pad and it took me to a screen where I set my phone's ID and other stuff manually (that the activation call would do automatically). I'm just curious as to what's in here. Does anyone remember the number? I can't remember it for the love of me and it's not in my call log.
View 3 Replies View Relatedis the current available update for Froyo the same update that Verizon is releasing today at 12:00 pm eastern? why should people wait till noon if its the same? also, if i want to set phone back to original settings and redownload all my apps from the market, do i need to manually set up all my email account settings again? and are all of my pictures that i have taken saved to the my SD card? so i should remove that card when resetting phone and put back into phone when done or can i leave it in phone and they should be fine during reflashing ?

1) does this void the manufacturer warranty, or the $6/month im paying for verizon accidental damage warranty
2) is there a way to restore the original settings on the phone, ie make it like the root never happened if i need to? so i dont lose warranty?

What i'm wondering is if that's the best way to move movies over? It looks great but the sound seems to be a second behind the video which I wasn't sure is because of the way I transferred it.
I saw people recommend dvdfab, which i've heard of. Does Vcast media manager work as well or does it not matter as long as you use a good converting program?
Also, just bought Blue Ray versions of SWAT, Death Race, Shooter which were newer so there is no digital version. Is there a legal program to copy them to my pc so I can put them on my phone?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just want some input on what i should do. i realize this is the droid forum so im probably going to get some biased answers from people, but i am looking for some good feedback. basically, im tired of going back and forth between trying to decide if i should keep the eris or go to the droid (or wait for something better). the factors i am looking for in the phone are the following:
-fast system that can compete with today's best smartphones
-longevity of the phone (meaning once i get on the 2-year, i won't regret it because something far outdoes this phone)
-best internet experience possible
-"bring it all with you" design, meaning, i want it to be an all-in-one unit that can do basically anything on the go.
-i do not want a budget phone, i want power to do things.
what can you guys say about these factors compared to the eris? im especially interested in the longevity for i do not want to be outdone by some new smartphone so quickly with a 2-year contract. is the moto droid going be around for awhile? on a final note--design. i chose the eris because when i went to verizon i saw it and it looked so much more slick. and its a beauty.....
So I finally DL'ed the root explorer app just so I could move the su file and update to 2.2. Well after I longpressed the su file and selected move, I went back to /system/xbin to paste it. I selected paste and it told me that I "Cannot paste here because the file system is read only." What? Is no one else having this issue?

I know you long press the app you want to move, and select the choice to move it. is TiBu shows the notification of it being moved. I then go back into setting, look at the apps on SD card, and they do not show up. I am running NexBeast FRF57 V0.1.1. My Titanium Backup is at version 3.2.4, I can reboot, still doesnt work. Superuser shows Titanium has permissions, so I am not sure what the deal is.
