View 1 RepliesI want to export a group of contacts or selected contacts. Is there an app/script?
View 1 RepliesI'm developing a big application and a part of it is about contacts. I want to, first, get all the groups of contacts. And when the users selects one, show all the contacts of the group.
I've seen other applications and widgets (like LauncherPro widget or HTC Sense Widget) than can do it, but when I try, I don't get same results.
My code is:
1.- To get an example group (this is just for testing, in real application user selects):
Code:
long idGroup = 0;
String[] GROUP_PROJECTION = new String[] {
ContactsContract.Groups._ID, ContactsContract.Groups.TITLE };
Cursor c = mcp.getContext().getContentResolver().query(ContactsContract.Groups.CONTENT_URI, GROUP_PROJECTION, null, null, ContactsContract.Groups.TITLE + " ASC");
[Code]...
2.- To filter Users by group??
I've had all my Desire Z contacts on the 'Phone' account, and now want to move them to Gmail, so that I can then completely disable the 'Phone' account, and start using the 'Google' account, so that my contacts remain syncronised between Gmail and my Desire Z ..
Now I've managed to export a vCard file from my phone and have imported the contacts into Gmail. The only problem is that contact photos have not been ported over..So how can I export contacts from my phone WITH the pictures as well ?
Or, alternatively, where on my phone filesystem does Android store contact pictures ? I can then bring them to my PC, and manually add them to Gmail contacts quickly ..
Running KK and trying to export some contacts using the stock export function in contacts - problem is that the generated vcf is in 2.1 format. This is not good, the export lost some info, such as custom labels of phone numbers.
Then I tried to found an app on the market that does that - not ONE have i found. All of them either do the export in 2.1 format; or they backup on the cloud; or send the contacts by mail; or use proprietary format.I just want to backup my contacts with all the info on my sdcard and be able to restore them.
What's strange is that the stock import contacts knows how to read 3.0 vcards and that I was able to do this thing I'm looking so hard now on my ancient SGS1 running GB.
How to forward a message using the native gmail app on android to a group of contacts already established on gmail? I often need to forward an email to a group of employees but have found no way to do it other than logging on to gmail on the computer which isn't very efficient. It seems hard to believe - any third party app that works with gmail to do so?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get my google contacts not only to show up in my phone's google address book but my phone's address book, so I can use VZW backup asst, which only backs up from your phone's address book. I can't find import/export addresses. The VZW guy told me to send contacts to sd and import them... can't find any way to do that on the X.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI attempted to import my contacts from my old HTC Touch Pro phone by using an application to export them to a .csv file, then importing them into a gmail account. That part all worked fine. However, when I linked the gmail account and synced up the contact information, there are a couple of problems. First and most important, its not bringing over all of the information. It brought over the contact name, but when you tap on the name, it only shows a gmail link and none of the other information. Second, gmail is using only the first name for the full contact. example: the contact it titled 'George' instead of the person's full name like "Butler, George'. How can I fix these two issues?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThrough a couple boneheaded mishaps when moving to one of the 2.1 ROMs, I managed to wipe out all my Outlook contacts I had stored on my company's exchange server.
I won't go into all the details, but it happened when I tried to restore some data I had backed up before upgrading to the new ROM, and I forgot to uncheck "contacts" from the stuff I was restoring. Some process croaked when the restore was done, causing some silliness with my Google contacts, but also wiping out my Exchange contacts on the phone as well as on the server.
The good news is I have a full NAND backup from before I upgraded the ROM, so I can jump back to that to access my contacts. Problem is, I can't get them to sync remotely with the Exchange server. They also won't sync (or "reverse-sync" if that is the correct term) with Outlook when I use the latest version of the HTC Sync software.
So basically, I can't find a way to move the contacts from the phone to the Exchange server. What I want to do is get those contacts from my old NAND backup, move them to Outlook/Exchange, and then have them sync 'naturally' from the Exchange server to my phone, while running the new ROM I have installed.
I'm okay with having to do a NAND backup of what I'm currently running, restore the old backup to extract the contacts somehow, and then restoring the 'new' NAND backup, but I can't figure out how to manually copy the contacts so I can then import them into Outlook.
How to:
1)Import and export contacts from/to SIM and SD card? How can I access SIM card directory or something like that?
2)Send contact by SMS?
3)Open activity for SMS typing and set some contacts as targets?
4)List accounts when I create new group or contact? Do "features" of account authenticator include "creating android contact with this account type"?
Comments for everything: I know, I should explore some Google apps (and I even downloaded their sources), but my customer wants this functions just now, so I almost have no time.
Comment for 2 and 3: it would be enough to list all available extras for sms intent.
Comment for 4: the main question is, how to include phone account. As I understood, for every company it's unique: one for HTC, one for Samsung and so on. How can I find suitable account type and name for any phone?
I'm hoping to get my hands on an X10 soon and want to copy the contacts from my Hero across easily. I can't find an obvious export function. I thought that I could sync the phone contacts to my Google account. However, each time I try that, it comes up with an error message something like "Google Sync is currently experiencing problems", then I get a "Force Close" message.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased an HTC Hero on Orange in the UK, and I'm loving it. Eagerly awaiting the firmware upgrade to smooth out the slight lag.
I was wondering if anyone had the following issue though. I've done a search and couldn't find anything quite the same.
I have a problem with selected contacts in People not syncing with facebook. The profile picture does not appear. Under Updates and events it either says "No updates or events" or "Updating". For the person's Albums tab it also says "No albums" under Facebook.
It is always the same contacts - I think just 4 out of about 30. It's been the same for a few days now. Obviously these are people I know have profile pictures and photo albums!
I have tried:
Turning the phone off and on.
Disconnecting and reconnecting to facebook in the settings.
De-linking and then re-linking the contact to their facebook profile.
Deleting and then re-adding the contact and then linking the new contact entry with the facebook profile.
I am creating a group android SMS. Therefore, i need checkbox. But,my problem is i cant figure out how to get the selected contacts?
This my layout...
How am i supposed to get the multi-selected contacts in checkbox without using database.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have got a project on Android application- silent features in my college. We have to develop an android app which will put the phone in silent mode for all incoming calls, expect for those the user selects (for these selected contacts the phone should ring).
Is there any online tutorials available for android where i can start learning android programming ? As i don't have much time left to join any classes for the same. This project has to be submitted within 3 weeks.
when I'm at the phone screen and hit menu/people/groups icon(multiple cards) you have the option to "add group" at the top or hit menu again and 2 options appear: Add Group or Delete Group. Either of these options are not functional. They don't work. It seems that HTC forgot to add functionality for this. Does anyone have a solution for this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm adding a new contact using the 2.0 Contacts Contract APIs and I was just wondering if this is a safe way to get the "My Contacts" group to set the group membership for my new contact. Or is there a better more standard way to get it? I'm using the literal string "System Group: My Contacts" when I query the Groups table to get the source row for the My Contacts group. I found this constant by poking around in the debugger, but It's not documented anywhere that I could find, so I don't know if it's the right thing to use. Is there an actual constant somewhere that I should be using to find the "My Contacts" group? Code...

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a HTC Desire Android phone and I'm looking for a way to keep a simple, basic contact list updated and synched with my Gmail account. The problem with the default way on my phone is that it will sync every contact on my Gmail. This is a problem as I only want to have contacts from my phone book synched to one gmail group and vice versa. There is an option to "disply only contacts with numbers" but I still don't like the idea of having every contact on the phone. There is also the problem of the extra empty groups I won't be using, can these be gotten rid of?
I basically just want one list and it to be my default list with all contacts and not have to go through an array of menus to get to that one list on the phone. I don't want that list to be populated by contacts who I may have only emailed once and will never email again. I don't want any gimmicks in between, no gtalk contacts, no facebook contacts, no default gmail contacts and I want to be able to then export this group to a CSV file to use with spreadsheets etc.
This seems to be possible on Android stock and even on HTC Hero Sense UI according to here: Tidy up your Contact List with a Custom Sync Group | Androidheadlines.com
but in the Desire Sense UI, when you go to people/groups/menu, it only gives the option to delete or add. Seems this guy is having the same issue, he has the sync group option but his friend doesn't, both using the same phone. No "Sync Groups" option
There are reports from this thread that some users have had this same problem. Some have a "Sync Groups" option when they go to People>Group Tab and click menu, most don't have this option however and I'm yet to hear from a desire user with this option. Also from this thread (Just want to sync 'My Contacts' on Android, not everything! - Google Mobile Help) one user reported that a "hard reset" gave him the "Sync Group" option. I tried this but had no luck, still the same menu as before.
Alright so I REALLY need to create a group contact folder. You see I have to manage about 10 guys and its convenient that they all have cellphones whats NOT convenient is I can't find a way to put them into a group and text them with one group message! I need to make sure these guys show up to where they are needed and texting all 10 of them separately is a pain in the rear end. So far the other threads don't seam of any use.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an application that updates all the contacts belonging to a group, I currently do the following : -> Get the group id -> Get all the contacts id inside this group -> For each of them I am doing an update on the contact => This is really heavy and seems to take time in real phones while I expect it to be "instantaneous". I am wondering if we can, in the ContentResolver.update() method specify a kind of join. For instance I'd like to do something like : UPDATE <people> SET <people.name>="<new name>" FROM People p, Groups Memberships gm WHERE p.person_id=gm.person_id and gm.group_id=<my_group_id> Does anyone know if it's possible or not? The update method has got a "where" attribute but can we use this attribute for complexe requests?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using ACTION_PICK to show a contact picker:startActivityForResult( new Intent(Intent.ACTION_PICK, Uri.parse("content://contacts/people") ) ,RESULT_PICK_CONTACT_REQUEST); I'd really like to be showing only contacts from the My Contacts group, rather than the list which includes all the auto-generated contacts. I had hoped to find an Extra to specify the group, but I can't find any sign of one. Is there any way to pick a contact from a specified group, or do I need to write my own picker?

question 1: Any way to move all those contacts over to gmail group so they sync?
question 2: Any ideas how this happened?
I want to define some Contact Groups. I am wondering where and how does Android store the groups. Maybe in a Sqlite database? If so, will be able to run a insert on it? Otherwise how do you add new Contacts Group via the emulator?
