I am wondering why now, all of the sudden my camera button is taking me to the messages app. It didn't used to be like. Is there some settings I might be able to change? I haven't messed with anything as far as I know but this is pretty annoying. By the way, the camera still makes its startup noise.

I have been agonizing for a month between the X and the Dinc. Up until last night, I still had no idea which one I was going to buy. I liked the video capabilities of the X, but from everything I'd read motoblur sucks. Also, for some strange reason I was hung up on the Dinc's lack of a dedicated camera button. I ordered my Dinc at 3 pm today, and I'm pleased to say it will be here by 3pm tomorrow. At which point I'm going to run over my Blackberry 8900 with my car.

Thoughts on which works better. I don't like the better keyboard voice integration as it does not have a dedicated button. I am really debating between talk to me and speech keyboard, unless there are others I am not aware of.

I know the Fascinate has no dedicated camera button, and I can't seem to find an app/hack for it, but is it possible this is in the works? Is it possible to reroute one of the hard buttons for this purpose? I know a lot of people would like it, but being that it seems to not exist at this point, I'm guessing it may be an impossibility? Any info would be appreciated.

There are so many different roms out there right now. Not only is that confusing for new users. But the fact that there are so many different versions of each ROM that i cant tell which one is the latest version of each. For example. Bugless beasts latest version is 0.4. But their is 1.1, 0.3. Can someone make a thread for all the latest ROMS and when they were released? If there is already one. LINK please.

I've notice last night that once it hits midnight my dedicated keys (back, menu, home, search) button turned from white backlight to a purple color. Anyone else noticing this?? I think this is awesome, but would like to know if there was a setting somewhere? Was this something that changed with the backgrounder(wallpaper apps)?

I have an old beat up Motorola Droid 1 that I've been using as a dedicated dash cam in my car and it's been working great except the battery life isn't great. I keep it in Airplane Mode and it is always connected to the charger but it only charges when the car is running, so when I'm not driving the phone stays on and after a day it dies. Need increasing the battery life? It's rooted and running a custom ROM (Bugless Beast) v0.5 which is Android 2.2) so I'm able to disable any unnecessary apps or services that aren't being used. I'll never use it as anything except a dash cam so even things like GPS are unnecessary. I don't have any apps installed besides the ones used for the dash cam functions.
I keep the phone in a windshield mount and it stays plugged in and I have an app called AutomateIt that detects power whenever I turn on the ignition and it opens up another app called DailyRoads which is set to automatically start recording once opened. I then have AutomateIt set to detect when the power source is shut off and it closes DailyRoads at that point. It works great and all videos are saved to the phone's microSD card. To save space I disabled audio recording so only video is recorded. Finally, I have a tiny wide-angle lens glued over the phone's regular camera lens so that there's a much wider field of view than normal. The more I capture the better.

I used both the incredible and the droid X in the store, and both keyboards had a '.com' shortcut button on the keypad, however my droid 2 does not. Do i have to enable something?

Are we able to chose the default action when hitting the Phone button? I want to go straight to Call Log and not to Dialer. I would rarely want to go to the dialer as I have all of my contacts saved. Its annoying when having a missed call and I press the phone button and then I go to the dialer instead of the call log.

just wondering if there is a way to put a "Phone" button at the bottom of the screen (instead of the app dock) like there is on the Sense UI.I thought I saw something like this a few days back (phone button in center, app dock pushed to the left, something else on the right) but I cant find it again.

I'm new here. I just got my droid yesterday. I looked threw the forums and I see people asking for apps that change how the slide works. Im okay with the sliding I just cant stand hitting the power button to turn on the phone. I wanted to know if theres a app test disables the need to hit the power button so all I have to do is slide my finger across the screen and it turns on? Sorry if somebody posted this I did look for the answer but I didn't see one.

So I've been dealing with the whole broken lock/power button issue for a while with my droid. Now I've been looking into rooting it and was looking into the directions on how to do it when i realized you need to use the lock/power button in the whole rooting process. Is there any way around this?

When the phone is locked, but the screen is on, if you hold down the search button for a couple of seconds and then say something, the voice search will run. when you unlock the phone, you will see the results. when the screen is off however, it doesn't work. it only happens with the screen on and the phone locked. i thought that none of the buttons should work when the phone is locked?

Apparently rooting and using custom ROMs hasn't solved this issue. Before I rooted my phone I was having the issue that, despite checking the "Use by default for this action" box, my phone just plain refused to save what homescreen app to go to when I tap the "Home" button.I've tried clearing the cache. I've done factory resets and data wipes (although I did restore "all apps with data" with Titanium Backup). I've tried using the Home Switcher app. Nothing works.Right now my phone is running the current version of BB, ChevyNo1's 1.0Ghz 5 slot update.zip for OC, and am using AdamZ's Smoked glass theme. I want to use the "HelixLauncher" app as my default homescreen, but it's rather obnoxious having to constantly select it when I hit the home button (it'll save my default action for a few clicks, and then I'll have to set it again).

I like being able to wake the phone to view the lock screen using the home button at the bottom of the phone, but is there any way to make it so that a second click of that button, or a click of one of the others down there, will make it sleep again? Having to press the power button up top is just an inconvenience.

I tried searching for this but couldn't find a thread that discussed it. My power button appears as though its been jammed. I dropped my phone on its corner where the power button is but I don't think thats what the problem is. Anyhow, recently my power button responds but I have to really press it hard and it as though the button is jammed cause it doesn't depress as far.
My question is that is there a way to designate the camera button to become the power button? I know on some phones you can make different buttons do different things and I was curious if this was possible on the Droid.

Is there a forum (not a sub-forum) specifically dedicated to the Sprint Hero?
I had a Pre and precentral.net was a great site that tons of people visited.
It seems like this site and Androidcentral.com don't get much traffic.

I own an HTC Desire and am quite happy with it. However my girlfriend wants to buy her own smartphone (since right now all she has is an old-ass Nokia). Although she wants it to be small so I did my research and all I came up with is the Wildfire. However I've read that the screen resolution is much lower than on the Desire. Is that a real problem? I mean, does it really hinder the pleasure and ease of use that you get out of a smartphone? Is the Wildifre a good choice overall, especially for someone who doesn't really need a hugely powerful device?

I have been tasked with sourcing an off the shelf touch pad device that can be used as a dedicated industrial instrument controller.
Is it possible to run a dedicated application and prevent user access to all other functions/applications within Android.
Also is it possible write your own USB device driver which would allow you to connect an USB serial class device?

I have tried Ebuddy and I was not very happy with it. I'm looking for just a Yahoo Messenger application. I can't find one anywhere. Yahoo is the only messenger that I use so I don't need all the other messengers on one, and I did not like the way EBuddy was set up.

I grew tired of unlocking with the power button so I checked the manual, which says that, alternatively, you may unlock the phone pressing the Menu button. The thing is, it does not work! I short pressed it, long pressed it and all the other 3 buttons, with no result.

I want to see a thread for my own sake and others on what apps people have removed and what is safe.In order to remove an app use these directions.Footprints: (I had to do a Nandroid backup after removing this becauuse maps would not load in navigation) some online have reported the same problem while others here said it worked for them) JUST BE SURE TO MAKE A BACKUP FIRST.Another app to watch for is Friendstream as people have reported problems with constant sync issues.(Also just a question when removing apps do you need to run the same command line ending with .odex?)
