Will updating the leaked 2.2 system erase all my apps?
View 5 Replies
I have the 1.49.0000 V1 Leak of 2.1 on my Eris. I am sorry.I really don't want to look through all the threads to find the answer to this. Can I update to V3 so I can receive OTA updates? I also cannot access certain things such as HTC widgets. How do I do this? Any support would be greatly appreciated!

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone having trouble with widgets stop updating? Like my clock/calendar/weather/news/pretty much any widget i have stops updating after an hour. So i look at my clock widget two hours later and it is an hour behind. Happens to ALL my widgets.Even the quick turn on/off wifi,bt,gps and such. They just stop updating/showing animation.I have ADW launcher installed. I am wondering if it is that. I do not really want to remove it as i hate the stock 3 button interface at the bottom (why do i need a contacts and phone, just use the phone to look thru contacts, wasted space IMO) and am quite keen on keeping the 5 button.Any ideas? If i power off the phone and turn it back on it's fine again for about an hour. SOmetimes randomly thru the day it will start updating and working fine again then randomly stop again.
View 12 Replies View RelatedIt sucks that you can't delete words that are in the Dictionary. I get so annoyed when I am typing out a word and it puts a totally different word in place. You ever type out one of the days of the week? It ALWAYS puts a (s) at the end! For example I want to say I am having a Super bowl party on Sunday and it will put Sundays. Another thing that drives me crazy I could say "Maybe I will come over later" and it says "Maybe I Will come over later" Why does WILL have to be spelled like a name in this instance? I add lower case "will" to my dictionary but it still reverts back to the other one when I am typing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first boot up the phone and check the memory (after shutting down all the apps I don't want running) I notice my phone has about 220-250 MB free after leaving the phone on for about 2-3 hours, with no activity on my part, that number gets smaller and smaller. I just rebooted my phone again because it was down to 125 MB free with no applications running.
Also, "Android System" is consuming 65% of my battery life. I realize that number is inaccurate after a fresh reboot so I played with the phone for a good 4 hours running apps and such, so that I could get a good test of how much the OS is eating up in comparison to other apps. 65% is a bit much no?
What are they? Does the version 2 get rid of all the bugs? What bugs still remain if so?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI just got a replacement DX due to random reboots.I read around on the forums that a factory reset would remove any custom themes as well as remove any signs of root.I was unable to achieve either with a factory reset and had to manually install the stock theme files, unroot, and then factory reset. Is this normal? Or was my factory reset not working properly? Is there a way to get back to "out of the box" without having to manually reinstall a stock theme and unroot?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo we've had the Droid since November, I used it, no problems, then it got passed down to my technologically challenged husband after he "accidentally" broke his flip phone in half.
He put some apps on it, and now it's constantly making sounds confirming every action, despite making sure that was unchecked in settings. (It's quiet when he has media volume turned off, but then he has to manually turn it back on every time he wants to play a game or watch a video.)
I factory reset once, and it was fine, then he put all the same apps back on it, and it started up again. I have now done three more resets, and not only is it not going away, but his same wallpaper keeps coming back, despite it not showing anywhere in the phone's internal memory through Astro, and making sure I had the memory card taken out while resetting. Not only that, but when I attempt to mount the phone to the computer, the memory card shows up, but not the internal memory.
Did he get a virus? Does anyone have any other ideas of how to resolve this?
How do I go from 2.1 ver 1 to 2.1 v3 leak on eris?? If this is already stated somewhere, I couldnt find it. If you know, or can reply with a link for me,

Is it really worth me going to the OTA release? Is the only way for me to do this to install and reroot, or is there a simple method for doing it without losing root?I read a lot of threads, but they seem to be full with drama .
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently applied the 2.2 leak to my Droid X.I was disappointed in the quadrant scores.
1280 on 2.1
1430 on 2.2
This does not compare at all to the dramatic jump that I saw on my original Droid. Is it possible Moto already had JIT enabled on 2.1?More importantly I was hoping to see 512MB of memory, however the device still only shows 256. I would be surprised if Motorola missed the opportunity to unlock the additional ram that they put in this device.Anyone have any thoughts on this. Do you think 2.6.32 kernel will be the final one that they roll out OTA or can we expect the 2.6.33 or greater that unlocks HIGHMEM.
I've been rooted and running roms for a while, starting when Pete was just coming out with his first Bugless Beauties. I've been through a bunch of ROMS, and installed them pretty much all the ways you can. Lately I've been on DroidMod 1.0. I had originally installed it without flashing /data. However, I noticed that my memory was getting pretty low, down to about 90 MB according to mini info widget. So I re-flashed, but this time I allowed it to wipe /data. Wow, what a difference. Immediately, I was up to almost 180M of memory! But it's been dropping steadily since then. I'm down to about 145M and that's with not loading very many new programs. I'm very conscientious about deleting cache, etc.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen the leak came out I installed it and was running up until last week I never had one issue period I loved it loved the new features and loved the increase in speed. Last week I sbf back to 2.1 thinking how much better they could have made it over the last 40 days (boy was I wrong) I have had to do no less then 3 batt pulls because my phone has froze completly. touch screen out 3 times. Open the camera it closes down right away among other issues. I have had my ringer go so quiet on its own that I could not hear it then check the volume and its all the way up WTF moto you screwed the pooch on this one wow.

Definite Memory Leak. Rooted Most bloatware removed also Using ATK memory starts around 280. I have atk set hourly memory leaks to around 170 atk runs brings it back to around 200 within another hour down 100 atk runs brings it back to around 130. No push, Email check hourly. No WiFi, BT and GPS. Moderate use. Could be why some are having battery issues. This problem also exists before Rooting. Hopefully 2.2 will remedy this issue. As for rooting no real performance boost after bloatware removed.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was on the 2.3.9 and finally updated to the 2.3.15 last night. So far the only issue I have is that I lost Haptic Feedback. I haven't seen any other posts discussing this as an issue. Anyone know why this happened? Did the update for TBH include a new build.prop that disabled this feature? Speaking of build.props I also still have 2.3.9 showing as my system version? Is there any way to know for sure you're on .15?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI think everyone who upgraded should test this out right away. I was taking pictures last night with my flash, and I noticed that even though the LED comes on, it turns off again the instant before the shutter closes. This problem is reproducible 100% of the time, and happens whether the picture is taken with the shutter button or the new touch button. This has basically rendered the flash useless.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so a month or so ago I rooted with Unrevoked and put on the 2.2 leak that was available at the time. I doubt I'll get an OTA for the official 2.2 but I saw the update.zip was made available. Is there anyway to put this on my phone? I'm assuming I'll have to downgrade to stock RUU first and then I'll lose root and lose all my backup info. Basically I want the new 2.2 but I don't want to lose my data. Is this possible yet and if so how do you do it? There are a gazillion threads about similar issues but I haven't seen one that specifically talks about this yet, although it's probably in here somewhere.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Droid appears to have an issue, and I'm hoping someone here can help. It is completely stock. I've searched this and other forums, but can't find anyone with a similar issue. My phone is not bricked, but I would really like to update to 2.2.
When Android 2.1 came out, I did a manual update and had no issues completing it.
When 2.2 came out, I tried the manual update like normal. Held the X key while powering up, and the Motorola logo came up. Then the phone shut down, and the logo came up again. As long as I hold down the X, this continues to happen.
Late last week, I got the notice on my phone that the update was ready to install. I tapped Install Now, and the phone shut down and restarted in a similar manner as described above.
Crap. So, I can't get into Recovery Mode. At all.
So, I decided to attempt a factory reset through the Settings Menu. Same thing happens. Moto logo comes up, the the phone shuts down. Then powers back up like nothing happened.
I took it to the VZW store. Was essentially told to wait a bit, and that they would do a warranty exchange if the phone became unusable.
I did the Motorola Support Chat, and was told that VZW should be getting a tool to help, but it seemed like the rep didn't really understand what I was describing.
So Weather & Toggle Widget, Local News, Audio Manager Widget, BBC News and Titanium Backup * Root won't update. The hang at the start of the DL in marketplace. Anyone have any ideas? I'm running 2.2 kangerade V5.0.9. I haven't had any other problems and a lot of other apps have been updating regularly for a week or so now.
