Motorola Droid X :: Touchscreen Unresponsive

Jul 21, 2010

Has anyone noticed their touchscreen being unresponsive (in other words its like their is lag and it's sticking and you have press down harder than normal for something to register) from time to time? This has occurred while I texting or just trying to scroll through the different screens. Generally when this happens I press the power button on top and press it again and it seems to go away. I have a stock phone with no apps installed aside from Google Maps from the Market.

Motorola Droid X :: Touchscreen Occasionally Unresponsive In Landscape / Get It To Work?

Aug 9, 2010

This happens rarely but is anoying.
I'll be doing something in landscape and the screen hangs.
It well self correct within 2 to 20 seconds.
I can manually correct it by flipping the phone to portrait and back.
The manual correction can be fast. Too fast for the app to change orientation.
It's like the gyroscope kicks the touch capability back in!??
I've seen it in the home screen (launcher pro), browser, games
I saw it before the update, root, and launcher pro
I did a hard reset a while back, no dice.

Anyone else have this issue?

HTC Incredible :: Touchscreen - Lag - Unresponsive

Sep 4, 2010

Give me reason enough to confirm my impressions of the Droid X and Droid 2's touchscreen compared to the Incredible.

Similar Threads:

From Droid X forum - "Touchscreen Lag?"
From Droid X forum - "Touchscreen unresponsive"

So I had to take my wife's EnV Touch in for a software update on Friday. I started playing with all the Android phones in the store (and yes I own an Incredible...since launch day). There were three Droid 2's and two Droid X phones on display and all 5 seemed to have crappy touchscreens compared to the Incredible. The 1 Motorola Devour actually had a better feeling touchscreen, more responsive and fluid. I felt like the Droid 2 and Droid X touchscreens were rough and had an issue picking up my touch consistently. The two Incredibles on display behaved just like mine.

The LG Ally phones on display worked ok, I hate the haptic feedback. It feels like a capacitive version of my wife's phone. Honestly, it didn't seem much better than the resistive touchsceen on her phone. If a live wallpaper was enabled, forget using the phone lol.

The Devour running 1.6...gotta say I was impressed at it's performance and responsiveness for such low-end hardware. If I had to get my wife a smartphone it'd be an Incredible, but if she HAD to have a physical keyboard I would probably suggest the Devour to her. She could care less for flash, the Android version, or getting a lot of apps.

Anyway, this was just an observation. Some people are probably fine with Motorola's touchscreen but are pissed at the Incredible's battery life. The Incredible really seems to shine with a good custom kernel and a larger battery. If Verizon does get a version of the EVO I hope they go with a minimum of 1500mAh. Then again, I'm fine with my Incredible until 4g enters my area. Given my location, it may be a couple years when they finish the 4g rollout.

I couldn't use the phone while charging (solution maybe not 100% accurate naming, because i'm using german windows and am just translating it).

- control panel

- energy options
- energy saving plan settings
- change advanced energy settings
- usb settings
- settings for selective usb energy saving
set both to deactivated

-> finally the touchscreen is not lagging anymore

General :: HTC One XL Touchscreen Unresponsive After Installed Stable CM 10.0.0-evita

Jun 5, 2013

I encountered one issue when hacking my HTC One XL, the touchscreen was unresponsible after installed CyanogenMod(cm-10.0.0-evita stable version)

I followed the installation guide mentioned in Cyanogen wiki..Unlocked with official HTC Dev Unlock and flashed eyeballer's recovery attached in above installation guide, whole procedure is smooth without any errors.Already wipe the cache and system, also factory reset before installation.

But after installed the stable CyanogenMod cm-10.0.0-evita.zip, touchscreen was unresponsive fully, buttons (power and volume) can work normally. When I rebooted to recovery mode on device, touchscreen function was back and worked well. The basic info of my device as below:

Asia Pacific device
Jelly Bean 4.1.1, HBoot 2.14
HTC Sense 4+
Software Version: 3.17.708.5
HTC SDK API: 4.63
Kernel: 3.4.10-g240d4d5
Baseband: 0.23a.32.09.29_10.128.32.34aL
Internal Version: 3.17.708.5 CL134054 release-keys

Following quoted administrator's words in CyanogenMod Forum:

"It is likely due to a firmware update that was put out by HTC in a later version of their software. The same problem happened with the regular (non-LTE) HOX. Luckily, with the regular HOX, the developers were able to find a working kernel version that brought back the touchscreen. Since work has halted on the HOXL due to a DCMA takedown notice on github, I don't know if the maintainers have worked with newer kernels. However, it may be worth checking on xda and see if there are any updated kernels or CM builds that address this issue."

"Due to the DCMA takedown notice to github, unless it gets resolved, it is likely this won't ever see another official release (whether nightly or stable). You would likely need to resort to the xda forum for people compiling their own builds."

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 :: Touchscreen Unresponsive While Charging / Resolve This?

Dec 1, 2010

While charging my X10 mini pro, the touchscreen becomes unresponsive. This happens when I connect to PC or power outlet.

Everything else works fine. All the 3 hard keys work. Touchscreen does not work even a little.

When I get calls, I cant attend. I cant even switch off as I have to tap the power off button shown in the screen.

Everytime I charge, I have to remove the cover and pull the battery.

Do know what to do. Having the phone for a month and I have this prob from start.

It leaves me red faced in front of all my friends as I have to pull battery everytime I charge. Very pathetic.

Alteast is there a way to attend calls without need to move the slider?

Motorola Droid :: Ghost Writer Touchscreen - Lost Control Of The Touchscreen

Mar 18, 2010

I wonder if ne one had an major issue with their touch screen before like I had with mine. So I decided to post this little story. Let me start off with a little background info. I got my droid november 6, 5 46am central time zone. don't ask me how but the vzw dude was letting me earlier cuz I had work. I was so happy that day leaving t mobile I did love my g1 but wen I read all about the droid I felt likt I had to leave her and move on. She did do a lot for me but time tells all and it was my time go and move on.Untill two months ago (Present time I'm talking in) I realized not everyone has the bubbly keyboard. I saw friends at my unit (I'm in the army reserves) that bought the droid a couple of months after me had flat keyboards n they were bitching bout how flat it was. I agreed with them since I was woth a g1 the keyboard was a bit flat but nothing to were its such a pain, so my friend shows me his keyboard and I looked shocked played with it was like wow and I pulled my n did a side by side side comprasion and this before I saw the bubbley keyboard thread on here. So unforunately my toucscreen starting doin its own thing like it was ghost writer and spazzing out. I had no control over it this happened monday nite and I was dreading it that I will end up replacing it. But it would not let me do nothing.I couldn't go ne where on my screen it would randomly hit different icons to the point were sum times it would call my contacts. I only had control over the physical buttons. So on Tuesday during work I fought the ghost writer to let get to setting a do a system restore. First minute of the set up was ok but right wen it finish and I was on the home screen again. I was like FUDGE I don't want to replace my rare Droid. After work I replaced it, I was real pissed I had the bubbly keyboard and (something I didn't noticed untill I got my replacement) the golden plated volume side button. I miss my precious rare droid. I was soo proud to be first non employee to have the droid in houston.

Motorola Droid X :: Screen Becomes Unresponsive

Nov 20, 2010

I have noticed in the last couple weeks that my X will start to lose some screen sensitivity and make it almost impossible to type on, whether in portrait or landscape mode. Yesterday I actually had the screen become completely unresponsive. The hardware buttons worked fine. I could bring up my last 8 opened apps, open up the settings bar, even hit home and it would let me check which home screen I wanted to go to. But the actual screen would not respond to anything. I held down the power button to chose to power down the phone for a reset, because for some reason I was expecting to be able to select shut down from an unresponsive screen, and couldn't select this for the said reason. I did a battery pull and was able to use it again. Has anyone had this happen to them? Any thoughts?

Motorola Droid X :: Shut Down - Completely Unresponsive

Nov 11, 2010

After 10 years of Blackberry I made the switch to a Droid X six days ago.

Twice in the last 6 days my phone has shut down and become completely unresponsive.

The first time was the first time I powered it off. When I attempted to power it on the phone would only show me the Motorola logo and do nothing else.

A battery pull fixed it.

The second time it went dead was as I unhooked it from my computer USB...it's a PC and I "dismounted" the phone manually first...but then...nothing....

A battery pull fixed it again.

So. That's a long way of asking: is two 'dead' experiences in 6 days leading to two battery pulls normal? Should I take it back while I can?

I can't swipe my pattern or even touch to power down the phone therefore requiring I used the d-pad to select shut down. Its happened about 4 times now, twice yesterday and once this morning. Is it a froyo issue? Or just my certified "like-new" breaking after 2 months already?

The keyboard also becomes unresponsive and I can only press the Home key to return to the Home screen. I switched back to the multi-touch keyboard and the voice to text worked just fine. Does anybody have the same problem or have any tips for fixing this? I really prefer the Swype keyboard but will have to stop using it if the voice part doesn't work.

Motorola Droid X :: Screen Unresponsive Portrait Mode At Bottom

Aug 26, 2010

I noticed that the screen seems unresponsive at the very bottom of the screen near the hardware buttons. It's most noticeable when typing on keyboard and trying to hit spacebar; unless I hit the spacebar right on the middle or top, it doesn't register.i.e. hitting it toward the bottom 1/3 of the spacebar. It seems noticeable when hitting the phone, app drawer, or contact icons as well. Anyone else notice this? Found this on the Motorola forums about other having similar issue.

Motorola Droid X :: Touch Screen Lagging - Unresponsive When Swiping

Jul 16, 2010

I got my Droid X yesterday and for the most part I'm impressed. (I didn't realize how much I liked HTC's Sense UI until replaced my Incredible with this phone.)

So far my only frustration is the touch screen. When I'm swiping between home screens, or even in applications, it often doesn't register anything or it'll open the first icon I touch even though I'm swiping. Sometimes I have to press an icon a couple times before it'll open up as well. This is getting REALLY frustrating because I can't just do things quickly but I have to watch to see if what I selected actual opens or swipes, etc.

I've only installed a few applications, including LauncherPro. Is anybody else having any issues like this?

Motorola Droid 2 :: Touchy Touchscreen - Bouncing But Not Changing

Aug 19, 2010

Anyone else experiencing what seems to be a very poor responding touchscreen? Things like trying to flick between screens ending up with the home screen 'bouncing' but not changing. Or having difficulty moving icons and widgets to where it takes multiple tries to be able to move something on the screen or delete a preinstalled widget. Or flicking up or down in Contacts moving the screen just a few names (I got a rapid 'fly by' just once and have not been able to recreate it, the contact list on my old Voyager works much better). Or an unlock bar that seems to fight you if you move too fast. Or that seems to get worse in many of these after you do anything, e.g. if you add an app or move a shortcut icon then the screen response gets worse until you let the phone 'rest'. And all this occurs even with data disabled, Wi-Fi and GPS off, etc.

Maybe it is just us being bad at using the screens, but we also seem to be getting poor battery life. Are there some running services that might be causing all this? Would a Factory Rest potentially help? Any other ideas? Or is it time to see about a replacement? Factory Reset did not help with touchscreen issues, but may have helped with battery life.

Motorola Droid 2 :: Battery Draining Quickly / Touchscreen Very Sensitive

Aug 25, 2010

The problems I'm having:
- The battery is draining wicked fast.
- The phone is ridiculously hot like the radio is working overtime.
- And the screen is so sensitive that when swiping home screens the damn thing tries to go back, or skips a screen. In the browser if I scroll up or down with just one finger it tends to try to pinch zoom. And on the home screen when trying to press and hold an app it double clicks and opens it. The on screen keyboard many times just blips out when swyping trying to type one word and it ends up being 4-5.

So I tried turning the phone off and back on. No difference. Did the OTA update. No difference. I didn't even install any apps yet. But I did remove everything from my home screens to hopefully fix the battery life. No difference. I like the keyboard (miles ahead of the D1) and the fact swype comes stock, if it would only work correctly. Does every droid 2 have these problems? Are they all hot all the time? Are they all super sensitive? Are they all sucking battery at a phenomenal rate?

Motorola Droid : Touchscreen Is Randomly Pressing In Exact Straight Line Near 2nd Column

Aug 3, 2010

My touchscreen is randomly pressing in an exact straight line near the 2nd column. Utilizing a program called steamy window, I could see exactly where the touchscreen was being touched. See attached photo.

Some Diagnostic Info:
- I live in SC where it has been quite hot.
- It first started this weekend after being in the car dock for 15mins. Afterward the phone was very warm.
- It seems to stop after the phone has cooled.
- It started happening again today in a 78 Degree air conditioned apt. after using the phone for 30mins.
- After letting it sit to type this, it has seemed to stop.
- Pressing the edges of the screen seems to reproduce the issue.
- Moisture stickers still have the red x's on em.
- My screen is as clean as can be

From reading other posts, I'm well aware it could be a moisture/humidity/heat thing. But it shouldn't be doing it in my AC'd apt. I'm also aware some say its greasy fingers/screen. But as I've mentioned my screen is very clean & it still does it.

Some History:
I've had my Droid since November. I've dropped it ONCE on the pavement some time in January/February. Afterward everything has worked fine. About 2/3 months ago I noticed my screen started randomly clicking things. (In my Apt.) Fearing it was going to call someone, I immediately did a battery pull & cleaned the screen. Everything was fine until this weekend.

I'm getting married mid august, and don't have a whole lot of time/money to fix this, but need the phone desperately during the next month. I was hoping someone would have some advice for me.

I do not have insurance. Is this covered under some warranty?
I am rooted (CM5.07/No Theme). Should I do a factory reset b4 I take it in?
Will they do anything other than tell me I'm screwed?

Motorola Droid X :: Hang Up Icon Unresponsive - Hang Up Call Quickly

Jul 19, 2010

This has happened to me several times in slightly different cases. Several times I've mistakenly placed calls to the wrong people (due to just messing around with the phone).

In a panic, I pressed the "back" button thinking that it will cancel the call. It didn't. I also tried the "home" button. Also no good.

I had to drag down the notifications bar to see the phone call in progress and finally access the red Hang Up button. That worked. The problem is that is is SLOW. And worse, one time the phone would not respond to the button press until after several tries (maybe the CPU was busy on something).

Anycase, that would appear to be a major problem with all these touchscreen-only smartphones - lack of a physical Hangup button.

Is there any workarounds to this? Perhaps some sequence or combo of the existing physical buttons to forcefully hangup an errant call?
