Motorola Droid X :: Rom Manager Stock 2.2 Image
Sep 8, 2010
Question. Not that it really makes a difference, but for those that upgraded to 2.2 using the ROM in Rom Manager (Download ROM -> Stock Images -> Verizon Droid X 2.2) did your bootloader get changed to 30.01? The original bootloader for .604 was 29.01. When I upgraded using the update.zip to 2.2, it changed it to 30.01.

Seems like ROM Manager is coming alive pretty good lately. With the ability to flash other ROMs, flash different recovery images. Only thing is you need clockwork with ROM manager and I am not to keen on that. I starts with sprecovery so maybe I am just afraid of change or learning something new. Just seeing what everyone else is thinking. But ROM manager is a great tool, for people that like the greatest ROM and flash it.

Question is, is there a way to show contacts in their "Groups"? They're all neatly organized into groups on gmail, but on the phone they just all populate the "all contacts" or "google contacts" in the stock contact manager. Is there a way to filter by group? I'm using an incredible and this functionality is build into HTC's "people". Am I missing something similar that Motorola has set up? Seems like theres gotta be a way to group contacts on here too.

I'm stuck...2.1, rooted via universal androot, Koush Bootstrap, ROM Manager.
I've flashed the newest clockwork mod in ROM Manager. Errors downloading any previous versions.
Download and install Stock 2.2 Image
And this is where I get stuck. "replacing stock recovery with clockwork recovery"... then back to main recovery page. No change to phone. Did I miss a step?

Does anyone use this app? Can anyone vouch for it for the Sprint Hero? I am thinking of flashing its ClockworkMod Recovery since I have been having issues with the Recovery Image 1.6.2.

I'm running unrevoked rooted stock 2.2 and have ROM Manager installed. I'm trying to install DSP Manager and the following happens:
Select Download ROM
Select Virtuous
Select Extra Goodies
Click the "Download" button
Select "DSP Audio Manager"
Click the OK button
Select "Backup Existing ROM"
Click the OK Button
Click the OK button on the "Reboot and Install" dialog
Phone reboots to Skating Androids screen. Bootloader is selected, so I press the power button (my other options are Reboot, Reboot Bootloader, and Power Down). I get a new Skating Androids screen that shows Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage, Simlock and Factory Reset. I select Recovery and press the power button. Back to the same screen from step 10.

I rooted my phone using Universal Androot (worked perfectly) and then proceeded to install ROM Manager to flash a custom ROM to my Ally. I used the Flash ClockworkMod Recovery first (sucessfully) then used Backup Current ROM to backup the stock (V8) ROM (sucessfully). I then proceeded to install the Velocity 0.1.1 ROM (sucessfully).
I've searched here a bit, and am unclear as to the process to restore my stock ROM using ROM Manager. I believe it would work as follows?:
Use Manage and Restore Backups. Select backup I made, and then restore.
If I wanted to un-root, I could then just use Universal Androot to un-root the phone (although I havent tried that part yet).
Love the ROM, just curious how to go back if I need to.

For the life of me, I can't seem to flash the stock recovery using my phone. I've used terminal, rebooted in recovery and tried to flash zip. Nothing works, just using my phone. I see a flash alternate recovery option in ROM manager but idk how to activate it?

I don't know any terminology of any kind so if you're going to tell me to do something please tell me how. First, ROM manager. In a detailed explanation please tell me how to install and backup and all of that fun stuffs. Again, I don't know how to do anything without direction! And 2nd, Set CPU, I just need all the info. I need to know on this application, and how to use it.

i got the bootstrap recovery, and I'm rooted so I'm looking for some froyo roms. since we can't use ROM Manager, where do I find the 2.2 roms? I've been searching for a bit now but all I can find is the 2.2 leak. that's not all there is right? THere has to be some ROMS that the devs have made for the droid x. has anybody consolidated them in a webpage or a forum thread or something?

I am newly rooted on DX. World fine with titanium backup. Started to use rom manager. Best I can tell from other posts I should backup up my current default froyo rom. I updated the clockwork and then when I push to backup current rom, the phone restarts but does nothing more. Is that all it should do? Seems like it should show backup occurring. Any help appreciated.

It's been awhile since I've done an update. I'm on Ult Droid 9.0.0. I noticed that there are no ROM Manager instructions for 9.8.0 but that states you have to do a wipe and clear cache prior to installing the update. Do you still do all this through the ROM manager? Or is there another way to install this that is "better"?

I have both 'Droid X Bootstrapper' and 'ROM Manager', do I need both? It seems to me that ROM Manager does a lot more than Droid X Bootstrapper, so I didn't know if I needed both or if I can get rid of the Bootstrapper. Or is ROM Manager using the Bootstrapper?

When using rom manager when do you need to wipe and when don't you? So far, I have wiped data anytime I switch to a different rom. I am currently using Ultimate Droid. If I want to try some of the things offered in the ultimate droid customizer, do I need to wipe when changing any of those? Or how about cyanogenmod? I have a nandroid backup of 5.0.5.3. Can I restore that version (with a wipe of course), update to .4 (without a wipe because I have all my apps loaded and settings set the way I want), then try some of the kernals without wiping? Basically, with all the combinations, what are some examples of when you would and wouldn't wipe data?

ROM manager now offers 2.1 stock. It says in small print "stable, radio, rooted". I just want to make sure before I try this. Can I go back to some of my backups from this if I want?

I had the new Chevy SS rom installed on my phone but didnt like it as much as the JRummy one. So I reflashed the JRummy rom and installed it. I wanted to reinstall the chevy ulv 1.2ghz kernel on my phone. I usally used rom manager and would just use the option "install ROM from sd card." this has worked everytime since I rooted. But now when I choose to reboot into recovery and continue the installation it just shows the motorola logo and nothing happens until I do a battery pull then the phone starts up normal. I have tried flashing the clockworld mod recovery again and uninstalling and reinstalling rom manager. (I use premium)

I've had my Droid for a while and finally decided to take the plunge and root it a few days ago. I had initially updated with a Simply Stunning 2.1 ROM, and it went well and was beautiful. I was tempted by the siren's call of Froyo, however, and decided to flash Bugless Beast 0.1 onto my Droid via ROM Manager. I've seen in multiple threads that this is supposed to have Flash and WiFi Tethering native, built into the ROM. Mine, however, did not seem to install these features.
Are there multiple "BB 0.1" releases, and could ROM Manager have grabbed one that did not have these features? I've already grabbed a program to do the WiFi tethering, but Flash is one of the things I had heard worked with this release. Should I reflash the phone? I'm hoping to avoid that as I ended up using Metamorph to apply a really nice theme for it, but I didn't think to check for Flash until I was on a site that uses it and it didn't work.

So I'm running FRF57 and everything works great sans one bug noted today. It seems there is an update for ROM Manager, but when my phone tried to apply the update it just hangs. If I cancel it, Market FCs and then when I relaunch the Market it happens again.
Am I the only one experiencing this issue?

I searched on how to completely remove both of these and one method was using Terminal Emulate. When i tried this method and typed in su to start the process it would say "permission denied". Do i have to reroot my phone again in order to get rid of these two apps? I'm doing this in order to take my phone to verizon. Do you guys think its necessary to make it perfectly clean of any "rooted" things? It is now unrooted it just has those two icons!! so frustrating. read somewhere else that if these icons are still there that i am still rooted...is this true? also I do not care if i lose everything... I just want my phone restored to factory settings so i can take it in to verizon..

Here is the reason for my confusion. There were a lot of back and forth between UD team and Koush with UD 9.8. Ultimately UD withdrew from ROM manager and Koush put up an "unofficial" version of it on ROM manager. Today the UD 10 is now listed on the ROM manager. Is it official? There was a thread about this on DF but the mods closed it with statement" in light of today's events the thread is closed and all comments deleted". So what is going on if anyone knows?

So every time I open up ROM Manager and click on anything it says "You must have CLockworkMod recovery installed before continuing! Install the recovery through ROM Manager first." Then gives an "Install" and "Cancel" button. What should I do. I have the bootstrap loader installed. Just upgraded to premium because I support the dev.
