ROM manager now offers 2.1 stock. It says in small print "stable, radio, rooted". I just want to make sure before I try this. Can I go back to some of my backups from this if I want?

I decided to root my g1 yesterday and I have been hearing that you can get a task manager for rooted g1's but I can't find it. Only app that I can find is one of then android market for .99 usd.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI dont know why i havent heard more about this app on here but this thing is great if you have a rooted G1. You can stop any application at anytime from a simple window. I woke up this morning and had 8 programs running - they started by themselves in my sleep but stop them all and freed up 21708 worth of memory. Phone zooms after this quick step. Its a free app in the market. Take a look at it if you havent already.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI hope that this is an easy one for the root masters on here.Firstly i have successfully rooted my Desire by using the unrevoked3 app so now went though without a hitch and root was successful as i have installed ROM Manger from the Market.ive clicked on the ClockworkMod Recover and that has installed fine.Ive done the Backup Current Rom and its created a folder on my SD card with the back up.Now i want to simply add A2SD or even A2SD+ as they both appear to do the same to me?Ive manually backed up my SD card as i know it needs to partition it but is it simply a case of going through that option or do i need to flash a custom ROM to it?LeeDROID looks like a good option as i like the standard set up pretty much just with launcher pro rather than Sense which i could add after?Lastly, if it all goes wrong how do i restore the backup ive created?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just saw a write-up for this app on another Android site and decided to kick the tires (well, that was the plan anyway).I downloaded the app from XDA using the SWM and all seemed fine. However, I can't get the app to open for more than a couple of seconds before it goes Force-Close-crazy on me. I rebooted the phone twice and still no luck.Incidentally, the purpose of the app -for those not familiar with it yet- is to give you the ability to lock your phone into a certain type of keyboard depending on the phone's orientation (e.g. Portrait = always Swype, Landscape = Always Android keypad, etc.).Has anyone else tried this app yet and have you gotten it to work?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running unrevoked rooted stock 2.2 and have ROM Manager installed. I'm trying to install DSP Manager and the following happens:
Select Download ROM
Select Virtuous
Select Extra Goodies
Click the "Download" button
Select "DSP Audio Manager"
Click the OK button
Select "Backup Existing ROM"
Click the OK Button
Click the OK button on the "Reboot and Install" dialog
Phone reboots to Skating Androids screen. Bootloader is selected, so I press the power button (my other options are Reboot, Reboot Bootloader, and Power Down). I get a new Skating Androids screen that shows Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage, Simlock and Factory Reset. I select Recovery and press the power button. Back to the same screen from step 10.
Currently I have an Eris with v3 Leak meaning I can't root. But my wife loves my phone so I plan on giving her mine and either getting another eris and rooting or a Moto Droid and rooting. I've been trying to read up on the Droid and the different ROMS available and have some questions.First I want to make a few things clear:
1. This IS NOT a phone comparison.
2. The Incredilble IS NOT an option since it can't be rooted and I don't want to spend $200 on it.
3. I'm looking for WELL INFORMED OPINIONS, if you don't have one keep moving there is nothing to see here.
To be fair I've obviously done a lot more reading on the Eris which is why I'm looking for well informed opinions from Droid owners that way I can make a well informed decision.

But since I pressed the post thread button I may as well ask here.I'm trying to replace a notification file in system/media /audio/notification and not having much luck. Astro won't do it. I've tried the file manager in Android Mate (given su permission) and it deleted the original file and when I transfer the new one in it says it was successful but the file doesn't show up. Reboot and it's still not there.Is there a good free file manager that will work with rooted phones, or what is the best paid one to go for? Thx

I wiped all data.now, my phone is fresh again and all apps (inc titanium back, rom manager) are gone.now what? do I need to install titanium backup again and backup again? what do I do to actually install the rm?

This rom is really nice but the downside to it is that my navigation doesnt work. I search for directions and it stays on the screen saying "searching for gps" or somethin like that. what could i do to fix this without having to get rid of the rom(btw i already tried pulling the battery and techniques like that)next my sd card seems to have problems now. Whenever i want to download an app on the market, it says theres not enough space and whenever i want to download a rom from rom manager it starts to say download error. should i completely wipe my sd card and is that a bad idea because isnt the rom and all the root stuff of my phone on the sd card? please!

My handset crashed for some reason and would not boot, so I figured while I had my hard cover pried off to pull the battery, I would give Z4Root a shot. Ironically, it worked without me having to pull my battery. Anyway, as I said, Z4Root worked great, but I after I installed ROM Manager, it keeps giving me an error about not being able to flash the recovery image. Am I doing something wrong here?
View 36 Replies View RelatedWell, it's being reported, however not confirmed that the Droid Incredible has finally been rooted.He's also reporting that he's OCed to 1.5GHz.What's more he's working on 2GHz.Good Lord, could you imagine?I've been saying that as of right now, based on personal preference, that a rooted Droid is the best option.But this will def start to sway opinions, including mine.

I've been searching for a bit now but all I can find is the 2.2 leak. that's not all there is right? THere has to be some ROMS that the devs have made for the droid x. has anybody consolidated them in a webpage or a forum thread or something?

I updated the clockwork and then when I push to backup current rom, the phone restarts but does nothing more. Is that all it should do? Seems like it should show backup occurring. Any help appreciated.

I noticed that there are no ROM Manager instructions for 9.8.0 but that states you have to do a wipe and clear cache prior to installing the update. Do you still do all this through the ROM manager? Or is there another way to install this that is "better"?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen using rom manager when do you need to wipe and when don't you? So far, I have wiped data anytime I switch to a different rom. I am currently using Ultimate Droid. If I want to try some of the things offered in the ultimate droid customizer, do I need to wipe when changing any of those? Or how about cyanogenmod? I have a nandroid backup of 5.0.5.3. Can I restore that version (with a wipe of course), update to .4 (without a wipe because I have all my apps loaded and settings set the way I want), then try some of the kernals without wiping? Basically, with all the combinations, what are some examples of when you would and wouldn't wipe data?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI had the new Chevy SS rom installed on my phone but didnt like it as much as the JRummy one. So I reflashed the JRummy rom and installed it. I wanted to reinstall the chevy ulv 1.2ghz kernel on my phone. I usally used rom manager and would just use the option "install ROM from sd card." this has worked everytime since I rooted. But now when I choose to reboot into recovery and continue the installation it just shows the motorola logo and nothing happens until I do a battery pull then the phone starts up normal. I have tried flashing the clockworld mod recovery again and uninstalling and reinstalling rom manager. (I use premium)

View 43 Replies View RelatedI've had my Droid for a while and finally decided to take the plunge and root it a few days ago. I had initially updated with a Simply Stunning 2.1 ROM, and it went well and was beautiful. I was tempted by the siren's call of Froyo, however, and decided to flash Bugless Beast 0.1 onto my Droid via ROM Manager. I've seen in multiple threads that this is supposed to have Flash and WiFi Tethering native, built into the ROM. Mine, however, did not seem to install these features.
Are there multiple "BB 0.1" releases, and could ROM Manager have grabbed one that did not have these features? I've already grabbed a program to do the WiFi tethering, but Flash is one of the things I had heard worked with this release. Should I reflash the phone? I'm hoping to avoid that as I ended up using Metamorph to apply a really nice theme for it, but I didn't think to check for Flash until I was on a site that uses it and it didn't work.

View 24 Replies View RelatedSo I'm running FRF57 and everything works great sans one bug noted today. It seems there is an update for ROM Manager, but when my phone tried to apply the update it just hangs. If I cancel it, Market FCs and then when I relaunch the Market it happens again.
Am I the only one experiencing this issue?
I searched on how to completely remove both of these and one method was using Terminal Emulate. When i tried this method and typed in su to start the process it would say "permission denied". Do i have to reroot my phone again in order to get rid of these two apps? I'm doing this in order to take my phone to verizon. Do you guys think its necessary to make it perfectly clean of any "rooted" things? It is now unrooted it just has those two icons!! so frustrating. read somewhere else that if these icons are still there that i am still rooted...is this true? also I do not care if i lose everything... I just want my phone restored to factory settings so i can take it in to verizon..
