Motorola Droid X :: No Way To Remove 'align To Grid' / Unlock It Altogether?
Sep 12, 2010
my brother has a ghetto tmobile phone running 1.6 or thereabouts, and I didn't get too close of a look at it. just played with it for about 5 minutes, but he can drag icons anywhere on his screen... like if you uncheck 'align icons to grid' in windows. So you can clump up icons wherever you want, instead of being stuck with this perfect grid layout.
I know ADW (or launcher pro) allow you to say '5x5' on the home screen, allowing 25 instead of 16, or whatever, but there's no way to unlock the grid altogether?

I am going crazy here... I've had this thing since it launched and everything is great except I keep hitting buttons with my face during calls! I mute, sometimes end calls, start 3 way calls etc and I have no idea how to prevent it. Is there any way I can make the screen lock during phone calls or change the call screen altogether?

I have the HTC Desire with Android 2.1. I sync it with exchange, but it tells me I have to have a "phone unlock code" to sync with exchange. This more or less ruins the phone for me, as I have to type a password EVERY single time the screen locks (or go to standby). Only way I can see around it is forwarding all my exchange mail + syncing all my exchange contacts and my exchange calendar with g-mail, but that is a rather poor solution I think : I have g-mail sync running as well, and that does not require me to have a "unlock password" Does anyone know a way to get around this annoying "you must have an unlock code to sync with exchange" issue?

How to remove the display of text messages on the unlock screen. When I receive a new message all I want is to see the icon up in the notification area and the green blinking light. I don't want the message displayed at all on my unlock screen. So does anyone know if there is a setting or a hack that can be done to do this?

I have just swapped from an iPhone 3G to the Desire and am getting stuck whilst familiarising myself with the phone (and making it similar to my iPhone). I have put an unlock password on the phone but it is a pain as it requires alpha and numeric so I want to go back to using the visual password. Problem is I cannot find how to get the phone to swap back to using a visual p/w. Anyone able to help Whilst here is there an app out there to wake up the phone when you press any key and/or have the iPhone keypad pop up to unblock the phone? Other than that it is an impressive bit of kit and better than the iPhone in many ways but flawed in some basic areas such as the pathetic speaker. It nearly went back when I first heard it and seems a surprising oversight given it is obviously aimed at the social end of the market.

It's stupid that Handcent has all these privacy settings, and even with every one of them in use, it still pops up a small window with the message on the screen when you unlock screen! How can I get rid of this popup altogether? I see where you can change the style of it..Full/Lite/Without Quick Reply, but no way to get rid of it.

So here is the story basically. This is technically my third droid. The first one had something wrong with the screen where it wouldn't do anything I wanted. For instance...if I tried to press any of the keys on the right side of the screen, they wouldn't respond. Whatever...got the phone replaced in-store. Second phone comes, the slide is VERY loose. The screen actually had about a millimeter and a half on the left side of the screen that it would give when pressed. It made a very loud tap sound when pushed. OK, called Verizon tech support, they send me a DROID 2. I'm thinking SWEET. Not really... Not even 4 days into owning the thing, the screen randomly shuts off and won't come back on without a battery pull, sometimes 2 battery pulls. Over the past few days this has happened multiple times, each more frustrating than the last. I'm getting irritated with mototola. I just called Verizon and they are sending out yet another device. I'm getting annoyed with this whole thing. I shouldn't have to call tech support every other week it seems. Does anyone have a fix for this problem? I've done a factory reset, among other things. I have my old 16gb card from my D1 in there...could that do it? If anyone has had this problem and found a fix for it let me know. I also have the Verizon extended battery..could that be doing it? Please...any help would be appreciated. I'm rooted if that helps at all.

I am sorry if this has already been a topic, I did a search and couldn't find anything. Is is just my D2 or does everyone's unlock screen lag? When I unlock it, the bar stays across the screen for a good 5+ seconds before it unlocks and my home screen shows up. Just wondering, my D1 was fast and didn't lag at all.

I can't seem to find nothing on the forums. One of my stupid cousins tried to log into my phone and somehow managed to lock it completely out. Despite me telling them that I will never give them my unlock pattern they managed to lock my phone out to the point where it asks for my google account. I tried login in with failed attempts. I even logged into google and changed my password and same results. I cannot use my phone anymore. Need help. Please respond. I need to know how to get my phone unlocked.

I have a similar query to the one posted here. I create a grid consisting of a variable number of buttons, at runtime (in a TableLayout), and would like to find the index of the button pressed. The actual Button objects are currently stored in an array, although I'm not sure if that is really necessary. I tried to write the ClickListener using something along the lines of code...
but this just always returns -1. Is it possible to get the id (or some other reference to the button pressed) without predefining the buttons in xml?
The solution in the other post describes cycling through the whole array of Buttons and comparing ids. Is there a more elegant way to do this?
