View 26 RepliesThis may be beyond the realm of possibility, but if anyone figures out how to add a functional speech-to-text button to the swype keyboard, I will kiss you full on the mouth (ok, probably not the most inviting offer, but it's all I got).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to say an email or text message to myself or my wife sometimes. When I hold down the input field I get an input choice menu but the only option there is the Android Keyboard.Am I doing it wrong?What am I missing? I would also like to have it read emails to me, and word docs (or just .txt).I have a Kindle but my phone is a little more convenient for something I would rather read in bits and pieces while walking to and fro the car or whatever.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI somehow activated the text to speech for incoming calls and text messages. (Says the name of contact calling/texting).How do I shut this off? I've spent days trying to figure it out with no luck.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo the 2.1 keyboard speech to text feature has proven itself nearly flawless for me and as such, I'd really like to use it to write much longer things like entire emails, but I'd like to know if there's a way to add punctuation and start a new sentence.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy text to speech and speech to text does not work in any application. When i tap the microphone icon i get a message "your phone does not have speech recognition ENGINE and recgoinzer not found". I cant not find any apps to redownload this. Any ways to fix it? I am running new sholes 1.0 rom
FIXED... reinstalled the rom and now it came back. go figure
I know the INC has stated this is one of its features, does the Droid X also have it? I have an INC on order, but am switching over to a Droid X ( confirmed no re-stocking fee btw on INC-DX ) ASAP. I've just been checking out everything the INC has comparing it to the DX and didn't know if speech to text was part of the UI Sense or Android itself, coming from a RIM customer this is all greek to me - so far
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to make short shopping lists with speech to text, but that involves "hitting" the return key to go to the next line. How do I do this with speech? And along those same lines, how do I add punctuation?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I do a capital letter in text to speech on my droid x? I can get a question mark or period at the end but CAPS man I need CAPS..
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I have the Droid X but I noticed that the Droid 2 now has a themed version of Swype to fit in with the rest of the UI. I like it a lot.
My question is this. When you push the voice-to-text button does it pop up a window like earlier versions of Swype or does it do the really fast and slick thing that the multi touch keyboard does (just replace the keyboard with the audio waveform thing).
Me and my brother both just imported new phone, me the milstone and him the nexus. Im pretty new to android, but isn't 2.0 and 2.0.1 supposed to have speech to text? I installed text to speech and it works, but when i go to run something that uses stt (like in handcent) it just says "rencognizer not present." Any help? tts and stt would be awesome for sneak texting
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have the 2.1 leak v3 installed and just realized I do not have the speech to text button while in message compose screen.Is there something I am missing?
View 24 Replies View RelatedDon't know if it's been covered, but I bought Better Keyboard last night ($2.99). Got it installed and it has a microphone on it. My speech to text now works perfect.A little slow, but I like it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a unlocked unbranded brand new milestone I got couple days ago and it came with 2.0 firmware.So it installed no problems but compared to my nephews droid 2.1 from verizon his has the live wallpaper like mine does, but on his when you hit the screen of the live wallpaper you see the ripple effect but on my I dont.
Also Mines missing the speecn to text also, I dotn see a microphone icon in the virtual keyboard when in a text field, also when he holds the search button at the bottom a speak now command comes up for you to say something, anyone know why Im missing these?
I played with the nexus one and you could compose a whole email message by speaking to the phone. I thought this was part of 2.1 for all phones. I can't seem to find this option. I did set up the text to speech, but I think this is different than speech to text.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAnyone?? when i go to that section of my phone...it doesn't give you the option to download...What am I missing?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just sent me first text via Swype and I think I just fell in love. That's all I have to say about that.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI wonder if there is ability to replicate this feature from iOS :
In iOS you can turn on Accessibility function that add the "Speak" button to the "selection menu". And if you click, it would turn on Text To Speech engine and read selected text. Can I do the same thing in Android ?
PS: I assume that regular app could not modify "copy, paste, cut menu" so I probably need custom ROM. (I'm particularly interested Nexus 7 2013 solution, but I assume that solution should be universal because it is just modification to the "Selection menu" and add button)
I want to create speech to text app,to get started i got sample code from android developer site like this..
package com.example.android.apis.app;
package com.example.android.apis.app;
import com.example.android.apis.R;
import android.app.Activity;
import android.content.Intent;
[Code] ....
And i have created,voice_recognition.xml in layout and made changes too...As given in the code, Arraylist? Should i create arraylist?/and what is simple_list_item_1??should it be created in the layout or is it present in the api?
since android now has speech to text search, anyone know if the API is available to the developers?
