Motorola Droid :: Wave Secure For Purpose Of Backing Up SMS Messages?

Mar 19, 2010

I installed a trial or free version of Wave Secure to my Droid for the purpose of backing up SMS messages. I used it once or twice. Now it's locking me out of my phone. It's asking for a PIN, and I don't know it. If you go to the Wave Secure website, there is a page for resetting the PIN, but I can't seem to enter an email or phone # with international code that it accepts.

Motorola Droid :: Tracking / Locking Phone With Wave Secure?

Jan 28, 2010

Are there any Droid users out there that are having trouble tracking and locking their phone with the Wave Secure? It backed up my info fine but it can't locate or lock my phone in both Firefox and IE. I installed Mobile Defense before I installed Wave Secure to test them both out but I've heard of ppl running them both with no problems.

HTC EVO 4G :: Wave Secure On Rooted EVO?

Nov 8, 2010

I have been running Wave secure since I had my Hero and from day one with the EVO as well. The remote tracking feature does not work well without having your GPS enabled. Without root, there is no way to turn the GPS on remotely. Now with root access, you can simply push the .apk file to the system/apps directory and Wave secure will install. Now when you log into your Wave secure portal and track, the GPS turns on. This will be great if you ever lose your phone. I tested it and it works flawlessly. Also, Wave secure says that you can make the software hard reset proof by installing in the system directory. I did not test this. Below are instructions on how to do both if you are interested. https://www.wavesecure.com/blog/how-to-make-wavesecure-hard-reset-proof.aspx

HTC Hero :: Came Across A Nifty Little App For Wave Secure

Oct 15, 2009

Came across a nifty little app for the Hero called Wave Secure. It lets you remotely access your phone and can be used to back up data, lock you phone, track its position and erase all the information on it ~ potentially quite handy as your Hero can store quite a lot of personal information. It's still in beta, and as a result is completely free to download and use. It seems pretty cool and simple to use but I've never really heard anything about it before. Does anyone else use it?

Android :: Wave Secure Hacked

Aug 5, 2010

i've found very interesting stuff in the internet. according to the site wave secure contained a very major security leak for some months which has been exploited. it allowed hackers to get the users PIN to login to the web central of wave secure. which then gave them access to the private data of the users, let them track the phone, ... Wave Secure still gave no comment about this. I found the blog at Wave Secure Security Vulnerability Report hope it will be fixed soon.

I have a problem I hope somebody could help me with. l recently installed a trial version of Wave secure on my HTC Hero. Has anyone experienced anything similar and would wave secure be able to track it for me?

Android :: Wave Secure Tracking A Bit Useless?

May 26, 2010

I find that the tracking on wave secure isn't really that efficient especially since it's now an app with a monthly subscription. The main reason is that the gps tracking on it is really pretty poor in accuracy and this is the main thing I use it for. So are there any alternatives with more accurate tracking on it? ( I mean google maps gives it more accurate than WS)

Samsung I7500 :: Wave Secure Latest Updation?

Mar 25, 2010

I've had Wave secure installed for quite some time now and today the market app said that there was an update available to download. I clicked on it and there was a Note as follows: Due to a Samsung Galaxy firmware bug it can't be supported. The version number is shown as 3.0.0.62. I haven't updated because as far as I was aware the previous version was working ok, though it often sent emails to my wife stating that my phone had been stolen - usually when I was updating the rom etc. Has anyone else tried this latest update?

Android :: Wave Secure Payment For Subscription Before Updation?

Aug 2, 2010

The title was quite blunt - but I'm writing this to warn others about paying for this product. I'm sure it is an excellent product - if you can get it to work. I made the mistake of paying for a subscription before I tried it. I have never been able to get it working.
I've been in contact with their support department who (very occasionally) reply to my email messages. I have done as they asked, run debug versions and supplied them with log files. They tell me that the problem is at their server end and they are trying to fix it. Since then (weeks ago) I've heard nothing despite repeat attempts to ask them for an update (and my money back). This morning, my phone told me that an update was available. I eagerly downloaded it in case this fixed the problem - it didn't. Just in case anyone from Wave Secure is reading this, please check support tickets IYR-245894 and BQO-385045 and you'll see how lousy you are at supporting a paying customer. So, although this product may be good, please don't buy it unless you are sure it works first. Also, if you have any problems, please don't hold your breath waiting for support from them as it probably won't happen.

LG Ally :: Backing Up Contacts With Pics / Messages?

Oct 25, 2010

Well this weekend I took the plunge after months of reading (trying to get smarter) & rooted my Ally with Universal Androot 1.6.2, (worked flawlessly), then installed ClockworkMod w/Rom Manager v2.5.0.4 (had some issues at 1st) Had the damnedest time Rebooting into Recovery, even manually(send/menu/end). The app acted like it was doing what I told it to till it got to rebooting. the triangle with the android would pop up for about 1 second then it was blank followed quickly by the LG logo where it would bootup like nothing had been done. I got this same result when "Reboot into Recovery","Install ROM from SD Card","Fix permissions","Backup current ROM". But being the bullheaded soul that I am I just keep pushing & occasionally things would happen. I finally got to do a Nandroid Backup. Then I got brave and flashed my 1st ROM, Raptor v0.1. Again with the persistence & slowly success. However things seemed slow. So I got brave once more and flashed the Velocity 0.2-aloha. I will go back to Raptor to try it out but for now Velocity is doing better for me. Both of these flashed using "Install ROM from SD Card" option with zipfiles. Now things started working better Having less problems with CWM, however the "Download ROM" still doesn't seem to work, (error occurred while processing the ROM list). If you're still with me, just tried to answer anticipated questions from all of you, I'll get to my questions; 1. Is there a way to backup my text messages & complete contacts info including pics that I've added to each contact, so that I can transfer these things when I tryout a new ROM? 2. Any suggestions on a good Apps2SD app?. Any info on RageXicity screenshot on the Raptor release thread about what clock app that is, what dock that is, & where did that wallpaper come from??? I liked the layout but don't know where to get it.

Motorola Droid :: Backing Up My ROM

Oct 26, 2010

I'm new to the world of root. I used the rageagainstthecage method to become one the many now with root piveleges on hs/her Droid. I want to back up my ROM before doing any further playing with my new capabilities. I don't know if this has been asked before, the information I have found seems to be inolved in previous proceedures to get root access and I don't know what is still applicable if any of it is. It looks like I need to use RSD lite to do something with SPRecovery. Will the current version work with 2.2? For that matter, will it overwrite my exsisting ROM (since it appears it will be flashed onto my phone). All the info I have found uses SPReovery as part of the root process. If I do need to flash that onto my phone using RSD lite and I don't need to fear wiping out my ROM, what subset of steps do I need to follow just for SPecovery to allow me to make a ROM backup?

Motorola Droid :: How Secure Is A Rooted Device?

Oct 7, 2010

I have been rooted since shortly after 2.2 dropped and it broke the SiriusXM app. I love having the ability to do so much with the phone . My question is kind of specific to an application and general to the nature of a rooted device. I have been playing World of Warcraft for 5 years now and with the always present threat of being hacked and all of my in-game items, characters and account being stolen I added the mobile authenticator app as soon as it was available for Android devices. For those who don't know what this is, it is an app which you add to your in game account and will generate a key which you put in upon login that adds an extra layer of security to your account.
