View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a way to identify a phone by a unique string or number. That is, get a phone to give out a code which I can say is unique to that specific phone. The IMEI or IMSI would normally do (sim- specific rather than phone-specific is ok), but they require extra security privileges and I would like to avoid that. Is there any other way?

This processing must stop when Activity A is no longer visible: user pressed "Back", "Home" or did anything else that makes Activity A invisible. This Activity A must not be aware of the service -- i.e. it must not have to explicitly inform the Service that it is going away Get any kind of identification (object reference, class name, ID, etc.) of the topmost Activity, Receive notification when topmost Activity change.

I have an icon in the right edge of the action bar, if I click this icon my popup menu appears, so far no problem. If I click the icon, following message appears in the Log:

Ok non-rooted droid. Using the stock media player it will not let me play a certain folder that I downloaded. I can not figure out why it will not play any of the songs on in that certain folder. I downloaded the whole disc set of a certain artist and this is the only folder that does it. I checked and every song is 317 kbps MP3 format. I have some music that I downloaded using iMusic and it is 320 kbps MP3 format, so I have deducted the bitrate as being the issue.

I can't figure out where to put my music. No matter where I tried to put the music (all mp3) it said the format wasn't supported.
Anyone have any sense of what mp3 app one would use on the upcoming Motorola Droid phones?
For someone who has lots of mp3s stored on my home PC using iTunes, would there be a way to simply transfer and/or sync with iTunes?
Obviously, music is one of the strengths of iPhone, or i-Anything from Apple ... am I exiled from the iTunes kingdom of mp3 if using a Droid phone?
If this is a dumb question, I apologize (I do not subscribe to the belief "there is no such thing as a dumb question").
Saw an interesting post the other day that said the Droid supposedly can only play 128 kbp/s as the higest quality of music? Can anyone confirm this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat does it take to play .wma files on a Droid X? (Android 2.1 update1)
The pre-loaded music player lists the file, but tells me "Sorry. The player does not support this type of music file."
I made a folder as follows: Media>>Audio>>Music>>(Music files here)
NOW that I did this, its loading all these midi, and mp3 files from games and apps that I have on my SD card, but not necessarily in my Music folder. Some aren't even easy to find, and require that you navigate like 5 folders just to find em.
I've heard of people having problems with playing music while navigating with Pandora. I've never been a big Pandora user, I hated the fact that I only got a limited amount of skips. I've used Last.FM since I got my phone. And today, I was playing music through Last.FM and navigating and had absolutely no problem. If you're having this issue with Pandora + Navigator, you may want to consider switching to Last.FM.Also this shows that this isn't a problem with 2.2 particularly because there are music players that don't stop when navigation voice plays. Now that we know Last.FM doesn't have a problem, is there a MUSIC PLAYER on the market that will play the MP3's we have saved on our phones without this issue?

View 23 Replies View RelatedI know better than to install these leaks as they are buggy, but I've never had one brick my phone like this. I was listening to the music player and now can't get the program to shut down. It won't force close, I shut it down and pulled the battery, when it re-boots it comes on again and the whole system goes fubar. I can't make calls or anything.

View 49 Replies View RelatedHere lately everytime I want to play my music I have to power down my droid X and back on.It reads this "This player doesnt support this music" or something like that.Once I shut down and back on it plays fine every time.Any ideas on why I have to power down all the time?
I use MediaMonkey to edit all of my mp3 files so that all my artist, album, year, track number, album art, etc is correct. Today I added an artist (Dub_Fx) with 2 albums and one single to my Droid; the single's album art showed, as well as one of the albums, but the other album's album art isn't showing at all, but I used the exact same method for all of the files. Each mp3 has an imbedded image file saved to the tag, each of them 350x350 images, and none of the mp3 files are protected either. Other programs on my computer show the album art correctly (and I've deleted the images from my computer, just to make sure they were saved to the tag and still show properly), but for some reason it won't show for that one album on the Droid's music player. I've even tried changing the album art to something else, copy over to the Droid, change the album art back, rewrite, and still nothing at all.
View 11 Replies View RelatedWhen I am listening to the music app, or btunes, or mix zing; about one in four times I turn the screen off, the music stops playing. I've tried turning of my task killer, but to no avail. At first, I had a second issue as well: the music would play for only about 15 mins then stop, however, I managed to figure out that that was the 'Data-Off' timer I had set for the battery's 'Smart Mode' (though I'm not sure what data has to do with playing music stored locally). Nevertheless, swapping to 'Performance Mode' solved that. But for the life of me, I cannot figure out why a quarter of the time I turn the screen off, it kills the music.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to play Streaming radio stations other than apps built for specific services (like Pandora/last.fm/slacker/imeem).To clarify, I mean online radio stations, that use .pls files to play streams. Some also have plugin players, but since Flash isn't on the Droid yet I'm not too worried about them. But it seems like it ought to be possible to play streaming .pls files.I tried to download one and it said it couldn't be downloaded because the size could not be determined.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with all the music / podcast applications. They close without warning and usually when I'm not even touching the thing, but has happened when I am using it. Any way I can monitor what is causing this? It's not getting hung up and needing to be forced close. Could my headphone jack just be horrible?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have the car dock and love how the charging cable plugs into the dock so your not always plugging and unplugging it into the phone itself. You can just set it in the dock and go. Now the perfect scenario to me would be to be able to stream Slacker or MOG music from the X to the car stereo using Bluetooth. I currently have factory Bluetooth in the car, but is only for calls. I would like to get a new stereo with Bluetooth that would allow me to stream music to it in addition to using the X for Navigation. What I would like to know is how the sound quality will be? Is there anyone here currently doing this that can comment on the sound quality and let me know what deck you are using? I am REALLY hoping for success here so I can just drop the X into the car dock and go, without messing with any cables and still have very good sound quality.
