So I decided to bite today and updated to 2.3. How do I setup my droid to sync to my music library over wifi. This is the big promised feature I've been waiting for with Froyo.

How do I Sync my phone to my computer to download music on it??? It says to put in cd but I don't have one, nor can I find one to download from the Internet.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is my first "smartphone" although I have used a corporate Blackberry and I have used a Palm for many years. I've had this phone for about a month now. While the hardware is ok, the software for critical functions (Calendar, Contacts, Notepad, and Music) absolutely sucks!
1. I do not want to use Google/Gmail for my calendar and contacts. I don't know about any of you, but I do not feel comfortable having my confidential contact and calendar information sitting on the internet in Google. The company I work for even has a block on Google contacts & Gmail because it is not secure and fraught with potential for virus. I want a way to sync calander, contacts and notepad directly from my PC to my phone. Unfortunately, this can't be done. I've tried Companion Link. Besides the fact that it cost $39, I can't even get it to work. This type of functionality should be a basic part of a smartphone. Iphones do it. Blackberry's do it. Palm Pre does it. Why not the Droid?
2. Music - I have been trying to figure out a way that music synced to the Droid will play in the proper order. The Droid will only play music in Alphabetical order. I can't find a way to play music in Track # order. I have been on the phone with Motorola for hours. Finally got to Level 2 tech support. They told me that it cannot be done. How stupid is this? Try listening to a Broadway Show album in alphabetical order! Right now I feel if you just want a fancy toy, buy a Droid. If you want a real "smartphone" look somewhere else.
The Motorola site offers a free download of something called "Motorola Media Link" which it claims will enable you to easily move and sync music, photos, and video between your computer and your Android phone -- it claims to work with iTunes and with Windows Media Player. Have any Phandroids downloaded and installed this? And if so, how is it working? I am getting a Motorola Droid on Friday and wonder if this download (assuming it works with Android 2.0) is a must-have for me. I am using ITunes and DoubleTwist but can not seem to get the Album Art to show or copy to my device. I have dragged a copy of a music folders directly to my device with the system files including the art work and that works fine. But that means I have to set up all my play lists in driod again which is a PIA. Just curious to see if anyone has it working as we would expect. Click sync and viola playlists with album covers!

I've used doubleTwist but it seems to stuck most of the time and it's really slow. I've also tried iTunes Agent but it seems to skip some items, and it doesn't copy sync album art!.
So since I'm a programmer, I wrote a simple app that will do what I need. It's written in C# so it will only work in Windows.
What it does is mirror copying your local music library into your Android device. Actually, it will work with any device, but it was written for Android, so I'll leave it as it is
Requirements:
- Windows Vista / 7 (Sorry xp guys!)
- Microsoft .NET 3.0 Installed (Most likely you have it).

Ok non-rooted droid. Using the stock media player it will not let me play a certain folder that I downloaded. I can not figure out why it will not play any of the songs on in that certain folder. I downloaded the whole disc set of a certain artist and this is the only folder that does it. I checked and every song is 317 kbps MP3 format. I have some music that I downloaded using iMusic and it is 320 kbps MP3 format, so I have deducted the bitrate as being the issue.

I personally use an ipod at the moment, synced to my music player in Ubuntu. This is one of the main reasons that I don't want an iphone - being tied to windows as a pc user.

Also, does it support podcast subscription, management and download in the same way that itunes does, for example?

Now i can only transfer 20 songs on itunes agent, and probably about half on ituner. I've tried ituner, itunes agent, and the twist one, none of them can get me my whole list, and i have been doing everything perfect.

Double Twist (sort of worked, but very slow)
Media Monkey (did not work at all)
WMP (sort of worked using media bridge to extract playlists from iTunes)
The problem i'm having is this. I have created a folder called /Media/Music on the phone and regardless of how I put my music into that folder, drop and drag, cut a paste or using one of the above programs to sync, I only ever seem to get about 113 music files onto the micro SD card. Before you ask no its not full (16gb so plenty of space).
I synced about 1500 tracks took several minutes to sync but when I opened the music player on the phone only 113 tracks. I waited for several hours and chacked again and still 113 tracks. I downloaded a program that allows me to browse the files and folders on the sd card and the folders are there but no files. when i connected my phone back up to the laptop there are folders but no music files (apart from the 113), and here is the wierd bit i only seem to be keeping files that are starting with the letter 'A'
I thought the SD card was broken so I tried the one that came with the phone, and same problem exists.
I tried a different laptop with totally different music files, and same problem exists.
I tried a different music player from the market, and same problem exists.
I even tried to re-set the phone to factory settings and formatted the phone back to standard, and same problem exists!
I'm on O2 so if i dont get an answer here i'll be trying to get it sent back and asking for a new handset.
I have all of my music in one place location. I do not use iTunes. I actually haven't listened to music that much in recent years. I no longer use my iPod.
Anyway, my questions is this...what do "Music People" do to simulate an iTunes experience on the Incredible? Or what do you do to simply stay synched between the Inc and your computer and keep files organized?
I have Amazon MP3. When you download songs from there they go into an Amazonmp3 folder. If using Doubletwist, they go into the Music folder on SD Card.
I just wanted to know what other people are doing to have all of their music in one location and have it backed up/synched on their home computers.
Having a little problem with my music files. I thought you could just plug the HTC One into the computer and it would show up as a usb device. So i put my music into a file on my Mac. However when i plug in my One all that happens is it wants me to use HTC Sync Manager. I tried and its just plain awful. Is there a way i can just drag the music file and drop into the One?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI moved over all my music into the local music folder on the hard drive of the phone. As always, when I listen to local MP3's it plays the song, but it never loads the album artwork because I got these MP3's from various sources.
I was wondering if there is some kind of application that will scan my music folder, attempt to recognize my songs and their metadata, and sync that metadata with album artwork to the files so that they show up in my music player app.
This has been a problem since google music first became available. It only seems to sync one way (desktop to cloud). If I delete a song in my music folder it remains in Google music. Same happens if I edit a songs tags. Is there any way to get it to sync both ways. The desktop program says it's "monitoring" my music folder so why is it not deleting songs out of the cloud when I delete them from my desktop?

I installed 2.2 a day or two ago (also wiped the phone to start fresh) downloaded isyncr today to put some music on the phone and every time i open isyncr i get a force close window. I'm looking to copy selected albums to my phone but during the sync process I'd like them to be re-encoded to a lower bit rate so I can fit more on the phone. I'd like this done during the sync so I don't have to keep a second, lower bitrate copy of everything.WMP12 claims to be able to do this but, not surprisingly for a piece of Microsoft software, it doesn't actually work so I'm looking for something else that can do it. I used to use the Double twist player with double twist installed on my mac to sync with iTunes. works pretty well, just wish it had landscape on the device. then i heard about WinAmp being on the android so i switched to that. better device playlist management, plus it still works with the double twist files so i can still sync with double twist on my mac.

I have tried an aplication called Double Twist that is SOOOO slow to sync with my existing itunes library and then when it syncs with the phone it does not put all the files on the sd card. Mozilla, our (second) favourite web browser has had an open source media library and player for some time ( called songbird ). The interface looks cunningly similar to i-tunes, and keeping in tradition with mozilla's theme and addon creation the plugins, themes and addons are pouring in.
According the their roadmap support for extrnal USB devices like mp3 players, cellphones and PDA's is coming very soon, in the next development phase. Which means one thing for you and me, the ability to sync our media collection with our G1's
Part of why I bought a HTC Desire to replace my 2G iPhone was getting away from iTunes - piece of bloat required me to keep a Windows computer around, updating music was pesky, etc.
The plan with the HTC is to sync it over Wifi when it connects to my home network. The system it syncs with is a media server running Linux and storing my music collection.
I've gotten so far to have Tasker start FTPServer on connecting to Wifi, and have built a little script called every 10 minutes by cron that checks for presence of the phone. If it finds the phone, it connects and syncs a folder, then makes the ftp server on the phone shutdown, so it won't reconnect every 10 minutes.
So far, so good (I'll gladly share the bash script, if anybody wants to use. Needs some more polishing, though)
The bit that bugs me is playlists. I can create m3u playlists and copy them over fine, however once they are on the phone, they disappear from the Music folder and cannot be changed/deleted anymore - except by the built in music app. This is quite inconvenient, since I have a number of podcasts that get updated daily and that I'd like to take on the phone, with a playlist showing the newest episodes first. I can make the playlist easily on the computer, however the phone will end up with multiple copies of these playlists, which I can't get rid off.
If there's no way, I'll work around by editing track/album MP3 tags and grouping my stuff together this way, but I'd prefer using simple playlists...
what app do you use to securely store your credit card, bank card, passport data. On WinMo I was using SpbWallet, which worked great and as a new Desire user am I looking for a good alternative. Also, what app do you use for managing your iTune library in order to listen the music on the desire.
