I have addresses saved for many of my contacts and but there doesn't seem to be a way to use a voice command to initiate navigator with directions to their address (i.e. "navigate to John B"). Has anyone figured out a way to do this?I know I can pull up the contact list manually and click the map icon for them and then get into navigator that way, but hoping for a simpler, voice driven way to do this.

I have a Nexus 4 running stock Android 4.3, rooted. I like to use Google Now voice control in the car, but I can never get the command "navigate to work" to work.
I have my work address saved in Google Maps as "work," just like I have my home address saved under "home." The "navigate to home" voice action works perfectly: it always pulls up directions to my home. The "navigate to work" voice action NEVER works, it always pulls up Google search for the phrase "navigate to work."
I need the functionality because I require directions to work often.
PS I can search "work" in Google Maps and it does pull up my work address.
Anyone know any other ones besides "Navigate To" and "Call"?

From it I can search maps, get flight info, etc. It has worked amazingly well. The past two days though, I have been getting connection errors more often than it works. Any ideas as to why its doing this all of a sudden?

I installed Fabolous' NexTheme ESE81 R2 ROM using the SPRecovery method, and everything is running great except for one thing. When I search in Google maps and find my destination, the navigate button is greyed out and is unclickable. If I do a voice search of say, "navigate to [Destination]", the navigation app loads up and works fine.
What I am wondering is if possibly I missed something when installing the ROM that caused some conflict with Google maps? I searched around here and also other forums and didn't find much of an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is this normal, or is this an issue? Also while in low light, or dark conditions, shouldn't the for hard keys light up?? Is this an issue if they don't, or just an affect of not having brightness set to auto?

While I disliked many things about WinMobile, I really liked the Voice Command. It wasnt perfect but I liked using it. I even thought it was great how it would read Text messages aloud to me through the speaker when I received them.Is there anything that can do that or more for Android phones yet? I know they have the basic Voice Calling thing but is there anything else? Maybe even something that will read text messages outloud when they arrive?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI used to really love the Latitude interface, when I clicked on a friend in Latitude, I got a screen with many options, including Navigate to, send text, etc.
One really cool feature on this screen was "what's nearby" which showed stores etc. that were near my friend.
Also, the background was black and the text was white.
NOW (after the last update): I lost the "what's nearby" feature AND the background is white and the text is black.
What can I do? Is there a way to revert maps to the older release?
With the 2.1 update, are there any apps that can replace the sucky Nuance Voice control?I like the new Google voice search that came with 2.1.why cant Nuance work that well?Google never gets it wrong. View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got my Moment and noticed that I can not have different tones for text, voicemail, and email. They all have to be the same as well as when I plug the usb cord into and disconnect it from the phone. Any idea if 2.1 is going to allow people to customize the tones for the phone? I really depend on those. I use the sound to determine weather or not I need to get to the phone to check on it or if I can just ignore it. Also any idea on the voice command? The one that comes with it is worthless, I really liked the "live search" from the instict and you would think Samsung would be able to put in the moment since it was in the instinct.
