View 4 RepliesWhats everyones take on both these applications? I've just started using the new google voice actions and think its amazing, and actually interprets my speech quite well! Voice actions I think provide a bit more robust actions over vlingo, as they can be used to get directions, navigate you somewhere, call certain businesses etc.
I do like the idea of Vlingo's, text to speech, reading who's calling you or a new email or message. I use handcent and that has text to speech although its extremely quiet even if i turn it up completely. I also can't understand it most of the time as it speaks too fast in its funny computer voice!
Another plus, Vlingo is now FREE! I haven't downloaded it yet as I'm just enjoying Googles new voice actions, but I would be interested in a comparison with accuracy and speed in both these applications!
I've loaded both Vlingo and the new Google Voice search on my Droid X with the leaked Froyo OS and Vlingo is significantly superior. Vlingo typically nails the request the first time while Voice Search isn't even close most of the times. Voice search is particularly weak with my contacts which are saved Last, First. While it may behave decently searching for "Jones Bob" it fails dismally when searching for "Bob Jones". Vlingo executes flawlessly with either.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I noticed Vlingo is in the market now. It looks like they added a lot of features from the beta. Have anyone tested it out? Also, does it work with google voice for sms? On a side note, does any one have a list of all commands as well as examples for the built it Voice to Text feature?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI was googling for "google voice actions eclair" in the hopes that a 2.1 version was in the works, and I found out that Vlingo (normally $9.99 in the market) is now free. It does some of the same things that the Google one apparently does (no setting alarms, though, too bad).
View 10 Replies View RelatedI am new to the Droid world and was curious as to if there was a real competitive Voice Command app, similar to MS's? I came over from ATT using Win Mobile devices. While I disliked many things about WinMobile, I really liked the Voice Command. It wasnt perfect but I liked using it. I even thought it was great how it would read Text messages aloud to me through the speaker when I received them.Is there anything that can do that or more for Android phones yet? I know they have the basic Voice Calling thing but is there anything else? Maybe even something that will read text messages outloud when they arrive?

View 40 Replies View RelatedI have the google search with voice command widget on my home page. I learned how to work it really well. From it I can search maps, get flight info, etc. It has worked amazingly well. The past two days though, I have been getting connection errors more often than it works. Any ideas as to why its doing this all of a sudden?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried using the voice command to dial my moment about 30 time and so far no success. It just does not get the command or the contact correct.Am I doing something incorrectly?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI feel like a noob with this. Is there a command you can say that activates Voice search? I keep seeing people say they use Voice search and find stuff without even having to hit a button? I thought you had to go in and active the app by pressing it to use it? I am just curious because if I have my DINC mounted in my car and I am running Pandora is there a way I can say something to bring up Voice Search, Navigation or Voice to Text without hitting anything?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have addresses saved for many of my contacts and but there doesn't seem to be a way to use a voice command to initiate navigator with directions to their address (i.e. "navigate to John B"). Has anyone figured out a way to do this?I know I can pull up the contact list manually and click the map icon for them and then get into navigator that way, but hoping for a simpler, voice driven way to do this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is #2 on the Android bug tracker, and it needs to be fixed for those of us that need Hands-Free phone control during driving. Everyone interested can 'star' it to keep it on the top of the list. No comments to the bug are necessary. Clicking the star on the left adds to the number of complaints.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got my Moment and noticed that I can not have different tones for text, voicemail, and email. They all have to be the same as well as when I plug the usb cord into and disconnect it from the phone. Any idea if 2.1 is going to allow people to customize the tones for the phone? I really depend on those. I use the sound to determine weather or not I need to get to the phone to check on it or if I can just ignore it. Also any idea on the voice command? The one that comes with it is worthless, I really liked the "live search" from the instict and you would think Samsung would be able to put in the moment since it was in the instinct.
View 6 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was trying to showoff the features of our phone to a friend and decided to demo the listen to command, but it didn't launch a song it just did a google search.
I have my langauge set to English (US). I cleared the Google Search application data.
Other voice actions work, likes "send text", "navigate to", "call", pizza, "how old is Barak Obama". For some reason "Listen to" just does a google search. SGH-I317M
so there's an option to select music (artist, album) for voice command. i can not get it to work. it only goes to google search results. has anyone successfully gotten the droid to play music from voice command?

View 5 Replies View RelatedHow to get events created via voice command formatted correctly. I found a info graphic that says to use, "Create calendar event, event in New York, Saturday at 8pm" as an example. Well I'm trying to put my work schedule in, and tried, "create calendar event, work, Monday at 9am to 5pm". I get an event that is what: meeting, where: work, when: 9am to 9:30am. How to properly create my event via voice with google now?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 4 running stock Android 4.3, rooted. I like to use Google Now voice control in the car, but I can never get the command "navigate to work" to work.
I have my work address saved in Google Maps as "work," just like I have my home address saved under "home." The "navigate to home" voice action works perfectly: it always pulls up directions to my home. The "navigate to work" voice action NEVER works, it always pulls up Google search for the phrase "navigate to work."
I need the functionality because I require directions to work often.
PS I can search "work" in Google Maps and it does pull up my work address.
I picked up a bluetooth handsfree headset, is there a way to activate the voice command menu by pressing the key on the headset? (essentially eliminating dialing while driving)
View 5 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if there is anything out there similar to Vlingo...one that would enable you to send a text by actually SPEAKING it into the phone and not having to type it? I'm new to Android coming from BlackBerry for many years and this is one app I truly miss.
