Motorola Droid :: Remote PC Application That Streams Audio?
Jan 25, 2010
I have the paid application PhoneMyPC and it's truly great. It does everything that it claims to do really well. The only thing that is lacking is the streaming of audio. Is there an app similar to PhoneMyPC that streams audio as well as video?

I have had my Droid since release day, and I am still carrying an iPod Touch as well. My problem is that I keep getting problems with audio playback using headphones with an inline remote. For me, it is absolutely essential to be able to pause/play audio when out and about. People talk to me, I get up to the checkout stand, etc. And, the process of pulling the phone out, swiping it on, getting to the app and pressing pause just won't work. Headphones with inline remotes are the only thing that really work for me.
The problem is that the Droid can't seem to play nicely with these remotes. The volume controls never work at all, and sometimes the pause/play works, sometimes it acts like a skip to the next track. Sometimes it just freaks out and starts cycling through my various audio apps (Listen, Pandora, the stock music app) and then eventually freezes. Has anyone found a workable way to do what I want? I need to be able to pause and play audio while the phone is entirely stashed away.

The day has finally come for the big announcement event. Most of us plan on following the conference live online, through a blog or hopefully a video/audio stream. This is a private event, so the chance of a video stream is obviously low. Nonetheless, I will be hunting the internet for a live feed just in case one's out there.
Let's use this thread to post links to the live blogs and/or streams, to make it a bit easier for people that aren't sure where to look. I'll do my best to update this first post throughout the day to reflect newly found links.

I connected my phone via USB to my RR sport to upload audio files to the RR hard drive. However, I keep getting connection error. Apparently my device is not being recognized as a storage. I did the unmount thinking. Also, I am wondering how I can play audio from my phone through the RR audio system.
RR is 2010.

I do have an unused Xperia X8 which would perfectly fit as an extension for my HiFi. The X8 should be plugged to the HiFi using a normal stereo jack and should provide the music to the HiFi.
The music should be stored on a network share or/and on the MicroSD card - and in some rare cases on some cloud service.
To find a player which is supporting these things is not a problem - but I do not want to get up every now and then to change music or to skip to the next track or change my playlist. We do have other Android devices lying around as well incl. a tablet So is there a way to control another Android Device which acts as a music player - from another Android device or PC to change music, to skip songs and so on ?!
If you are on PC - that is easy - you get a Web Interface for nearly every piece of software but hey - what about the android eco system - how they play together ?!

Can some one explain what is the problem. The code snippet I am using is given below. Code...
The code works fine when I say mVideoView.setVideoPath("/sdcard/vv.3gp"); but not able to play if I give a rtsp/http urls. In case of http it says PVMFErrorContentInvalid for progressive download.

Since the Playstation 3 uses bluetooth, the remote that you buy in stores for it is bluetooth, and our Motorola Droids are bluetooth compatible, would it be possible for someone (not me cause I don't know how) to make an app that would enable the Droid to be a bluetooth remote for the Playstation 3?? I know there are apps to turn it into a remote, but I think this requires an separate adapter or receiver. Anyways, if anyone knows if its even possible or not, please let me know. If it is possible, does anyone want to tackle this app?? I know I would be willing to pay for it, as I'm sure others might as well.

Loving my new Droid, but having a bit of a problem with the media playback. Once I get a track playing, and the screen is off, it is a major hassle when I want to simply pause for a second to talk to someone. I have to press button, swipe open, then press pause. The way I solved this on the iPod Touch was using the earbuds with the inline remote (even has a mic to use for calls in the iPhone). I am looking for a similar set up earbuds for the Droid, any suggestions?

Can someone please help me understand the advantage of using Touchdown to manage my corporate emails, calendar and contacts? We are running on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 (on Small Business Server 2008). The phones that are using activesync in our office have to enter a password every time they are brought out of screen saver or sleep mode. This is very annoying and I don't want this. I am currently connecting via my company's Outlook remote web access, not directly to the server. No password entry required. So far, this is working for me. Updates to emails, contacts and calendar are immediate. Emails arrive on the phone typically before they appear in my Outlook. Now, what I am looking for in the way of improvements:
1.Adding a signature to my emails (required for FINRA and SEC compliance).
2. Fixing contacts so they are listed by last name. They are currently in first name order when viewed on the DROID (not in Outlook).
3.Ability to accept meeting invites this is a minor issue.

Has anyone tried Xtralogic or any other suggested remote desktop application on their Droids? Via the VPN, I would like to connect to my windows servers from my phone. How is Xtralogic if anyone has tried it? Also, is there a command line prompt application for the Droid, so I would have the capability of pinging windows servers, (after establishing a VPN connection of course)? The built-in VPN tool on my phone works fine.

It's pretty cool that Chevy is supporting the Droid right out of the gate with it's new Chevy Volt remote control app.
Go to the Chevy OnStar demo web page to install the app.

I was thinking of getting one and trying it out, but I don't know how often I would use it. What do you use it for? Can you watch Hulu on your home PC on your phone? Is it more of a work-related thing? Is it just for forgotten files?Just wondering how useful an application like this is to the normal day-to-day user.

Yesterday, I found a cool little device that doesn't require you to have an iPhone to be able to send infrared commands to pretty much anything. It connects to your home network either via wifi or ethernet and can control 3 IR emitters or 3 IR blasters or any combination of 3 of those. If I write an app for this thing, would anybody actually be interested?

I have been trying to get more information on what Android 2.0's capabilities are around its ability to sync with Exchange. My company requires PIN locking and remote wipe in order to sync, but it seems nearly impossible to find out of this is a supported feature within 2.0. Has anyone tried this with a similar set of Exchange policies that may have tested 2.0 or the Droid itself?

I just got this app for my x and fascinate. it's amazing. when connected to wifi, my computer notifies me of my texts, calls, low battery, etc. it is great when i am working, and i even love it when i am at home, as my entertainment center is controlled by a PC. check it out. best app all week. i am certain this belongs in another part of the forum, but i really only browse the x and fascinate sections, and i know a lot of you just stay around here too, and i thought you all might find it really useful.

Ive upgraded my Droid to FRG22 a couple of weeks ago and it works great in all respects. One issue I have is not been able to find the Verizon apps for the FiOS DVR and Remote Control. Have they not been ported to version 2.2? Should I use the update patch to force the Droid to see 2.1 apps in the market or just wait for verizon to update the market?

talk about limited information! I'm trying to get my Android application to connect to an online database to access information. There's quite a bit of info including geotags and these are going to be mapped on my app. The developer site has the very informative piece of information:You can use the network (when it's available) to store and retrieve data on your own web-based services.
