Whats the difference between a 2.0.1 ROM and 2.1 ROM?
I've been rooted for awhile and always stuck with either AdamZ ROM or Pete's Bugless Beast and they were all based off of 2.0.1. Is there something special I need to do in order to run a ROM based off of 2.1?
Moving Good for Enterprise around from rom to rom?
I have a Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) and was looking to test out Jelly Bean, or at least move to the stock image once available.
Problem is with Good for Enterprise..it's no longer hosted by my company and as an IT admin I used to be able to root, rom, reset my activation pin, etc.
Currently the parent company has a 1 and done activation (very annoying); so if I flash I have to wait for another activation?
Anyhow, was wondering if I were to take a backup of it and all its glory with Titanium backup, move to another rom and restore it, would it allow me to preserve my activation? I sort of tried it once, but it would never get any new email upon restore, so I was wondering if its really possible or if I am out of luck there?
I am using this awesome AOKP ROM that lately has had a lot of nightlies. I have found that going back into the play store and redownloading every app.
Also when I do reinstall my apps, all the app data (game progress user logins etc) are gone. How can I back that up?
And finally if I do back up the data from the apps, will that mess with my ROM at all? SGH-I747
might as well suggest this now but could we get a sub forum for roms since birdman broke motorola.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my Droid since February and have it rooted. I've been using Smoked Glass v6.0.1 ROM and now I'm ready to change things up. I have ROM manager premium but I'm too overwhelmed by all the choices. I've been trying to research the different ROMs out there but there are too many.
Can we make a list here of what ROMs do what? For instance I've read Bugless Beast is great for speed but Ultimate Droid is better if you want looks and don't care about speed. Don't even get me started on CyanogenMod. There are way to many options with that one.
In here you can put what rom you are running and all the info, OC range kernels all that, and a screen shot of the main home screen. and you can discuss on which one is better. what one has that the other doesn't and etc.... i like talking about all that for some reason.
I'm running CYANOGEN MOD 5.0.5 W/ 24K THEME AND OC RANGE OF 1000-800MHZ. I have in the past run simmply stunning and smoked glass and droid mod and the desire build roms. i find cyanogen to be the smoothest and most customizable to me. I also like the updater its all very easy to use.
cons: i dont like clockwork recovery, im use to SPRecovery.
All in all CYANOGEN MOD IS THE BEST TO ME.
Can you make voice calls with BT using 2.1 ROMS? Or does that feature still not exist?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI rooted my X with the androot, downloaded all of the apps that was in the app list to get once rooted, downloaded FlyX and installed, however once the phone restarted, stuck on the big M luckily i had a backup ready to go so i restored the phone, last night however i wasnt so lucky, i tried the new 2.3 update, and well lets say big M for 30 mins til i was able to flash it back to stock. i know i am doing these steps the correct way, i make a backup each time, and i check the cache data.

I understand how to root, that isnt the issue,
Im not sure how to install custom roms. I really want to use Droidmod 1.0
I dled it, it comes as a .tgz file. How do i go about installing it?
I'm looking for a good holster for the Driod?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just got my refurb today and it wont let me install the smoked glass roms neither v4 or v5. i rooted the phone with no problems. and i had smoked glass running perfect on my other phone.
I go to "advanced nandroid restore" then "choose backup" and i choose the smoked glass rom then the phone says: "nandroid exited with status 25." and if i try to use the backup rom i made it says "nandroid exited with status 21". any ideas? ive tried several times today with same results.
I'm rooted, and swap roms, backup everything pretty confidently (thanks again to Joe for helping me get in the pool).
But there are some things I don't understand. I really want to go to a 2.1 ROM. I've tried a few with verying degrees of happyness, and some of the later ones I've tried just send me through enless reboot cycles. I've tried Pete's new one (figuring if anybody put out something dependable it would be him) and though it boots up FAST and runs great, after playing around for a while it sends me through reboot cycles and freezes up.
I always follow all instructions to the "T", so it makes no sense that others are having success when I am not. Is there some other process that I have to go through that are just unspoken "common sense" steps among the more advanced users that aren't outlined in install instructions? Or am I just supposed to let the phone do it's thing for a while after installing? It just makes me nervouse when it is looping through 3-5 reboots in a row.
Does rooting and installing ROMs void my warranty and insurrance I have with my Motorola Droid?
How exactly do I root the Droid?
How do I install ROMs?
Are there any ROMs recommended to try?
What are the feature differences of a vanilla 2.2 ROM and BuglessBeast?
I'm looking into putting a Rom on my OTA 2.2 Droid. After doing a bit of searching it seems like you can only do install SPRecovery and whatnot only via Linux or Windows.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to installing custom roms so I have a question when using rom manager after I download the rom and check the two boxes the phone goes into recovery mode and I'm not sure what I have to do after that my screen just shows a phone with an exclamation mark next to it what do I have to do after that?
View 7 Replies View Relatedcoming from moto droid rooted, rom manager, setcpu, all that. got the x on release day. i know we can root and oc now, but are there any custom roms that will work with the droid x ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my droid (ONLY the droid, no battery, backplate, or charger) lol. I know irritating right. Well since I have a couple days before everything comes that I need, i am contemplating on which ROM to put on it. I have done some reading and seems that the majority of people are happy with BB (right?)
But my question is:
What about Kernals? I have heard to flash new Kernals for overclocking and such, but should I flash a different Kernal or do the ROMS already have the fastest Kernal installed on them? Not sure if this question makes sense, but I'm just trying to get the fastest ROM & Kernal available for my Droid.
If I use on of the roms will I be able to keep all the contacts and apps on my rooted 2.1? If not how do I back it up.This would be extremely helpful.

My buddy is new to the whole root process and went about rooting his Droid and installing a custom ROM....but I think he's flashing a ROM for a different phone as the links he sent me were for a Nexus One ROM.
So..out of curriosity, if he flashes the ROM (I assume they're in update zips like the Droid) using Clockwork, whats happened (going to happen) to his phone? The only reason I ask if because I haven't gotten a text from him since he said he was gonna start messing with the ROM and he isn't answering his phone, so I assume the worst. Has he bricked his new toy or can I RSD him back to life?
How can you put roms on a droid from a mac and can you tell me how to put roms on it from your phone.

View 3 Replies View RelatedPersonally I love being rooted and having all the options that being rooted gives me, however I have not found a single theme that I actually like more than stock Android. I mean, some of them have cool elements, JRummy's green themed ROM is ok, as is Fab's NexBeast, they have some really cool parts to the themes, but some of the icons or other things are just God-awful in every theme I have tried. I liked Pete's Smoked Glass theme he had to apply over his BB builds, but the notification drop down had some problems, you couldn't always read the notification text making it basically useless. Overall I am just asking, am I the only one who highly prefers the Android stock theme?
View 17 Replies View RelatedJust rooted my phone after received the OTA update. Downloaded BB v0.4, but noticed it was running FGR01B. Are there any ROMs out that are build off of the FRG22D Build?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know, the information is probably out there if I spent more time trying to cajole the information out of my good friend Google, but he's been feeling unhelpful today, so I figured I would ask here. I am currently running Bugless Beast .4, and of course, I may want to change or upgrade in the future. I know that most of my settings and information is saved to the SD card, and that in theory I could move SOME apps there. That said, I want to understand what a "nandroid backup" is, and how changing ROMs affects your otherwise installed applications. Is there a good app anyone can recommend to back up and restore applications if they are lost?
