Motorola Droid :: MyBackup Pro V2.1.1
Nov 9, 2009
I am the product manager of MyBackup here at RerWare, LLC.
We have just released V2.1.1 of MyBackup and MyBackup Pro.
This new version now supports Android 2.0, so for you Motorola Droid users, make sure to check it out.
It also supports GMail sync for Android 2.0, Android 2.0 works in a way that now allows us to resolve this issue.
Along with Android 2.0 (Motorola Droid phones) support we also added:
- Support for any screen resolution.
- Language localization into German, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. (more to come)
- Support for Music Playlists.
We backup more data then any other application on the market. With more supported Android devices than anyone else.
And as always, you can Schedule backups to run automatically, as well as run a backup to our secured servers on a online location in case you lose your phone, and along with it, your SD Card. A feature that is also very helpful is our Data Viewer. You can view the backed up contacts, sms messages, call log, and browser bookmarks either online or on your phone without actually restoring the data.

I installed it on the X and it worked well, backing up every night. It stopped on 31 July. Should have carried over into August. I re-scheduled it again. Anyone know why it stopped?

I just installed the mybackup app trial version... and well it has done something to my phone. I restarted it to free up the memory and now, it just like doesn't work right. My facebook widget stopped working, I have taskiller and the widget when i turned the phone on dissappeared. I tried putting it back on my home screen 4 times, but it never showed up, and when i went to the actual app and left it all 4 widgets showed up. As well I can't search in the market it just keeps on searching. I did all this after backing up everything to my sdcard.

so i downloaded mybackup pro, used it to backup everything i could. then i updated to 2.1. now i have a few questions.in advance, i'm sorry if this has been asked and answered. i searched, i looked at random, and after spending about two hours did not find what i need. if these are answered, someone point me in the direction, and then admins please lock/delete this thread. the forum is already spammed up with pointless questions.
1.) where is mybackup pro? all i found was the 30-day trial.
2.) i use AK notepad for many things, not least of all a listing of all my alcoholic beverage creations. my notes are gone. did it not back them up, or did i do something wrong restoring?
3.) the four 'buttons' at the bottom (home, menu, back, and search) no longer light up. help?
everything else, so far, seems to work. hopefully if i run into anything else, ill be able to find the answers myself.

I don't know how to get my paid for copy of mybackup pro back on my phone after the install of the 2.1 leak. In the app store I only see the free version and I downloaded this and restored my other apps.

Is the only difference between the two the 30 trial period, or does the freebie have additional limitations? I only ask because I'd only want to back up for the impending update, nothing more.

Before I formatted my SD Card I copied everything to my computer, what folders does MyBackup use?
I've tried moving everything back onto the card but it seems to unmount before everything gets copied across.
I'm trying to get all my contacts and SMS's back.

I will soon be upgrading from my Hero running v2.1 to Evo. I have MyBackup Pro on my Hero. I have two almost-identical questions:
1. When I pickup my Evo this week, if it is running v2.1, will MyBackup Pro be able to successfully "restore" from the Hero backup onto my new Evo? I guess the lower-level uncertainty is whether there are phone dependencies that would disallow running the restore if the OS's are the same.
2. The same question if I pick up the Evo and it is running v2.2.

I have just purchased MyBackup Pro, and its just not working!
Every time I try and back up, either online or to the SD Card I get this error:
'Error during backup: Error opening D B'
I purchased it because my contacts when reimported from the HTC Hero Orange firmware update, synched with google, went crazy! I now realise I should have turned off the google synch, but I kept a backup of my backup and have restored this to the SD Card. This gives me the error:
'Could not get backup set.'

So I did a hard reset this am in hopes of eliminating the sluggishness of my Hero. However, I found out that I had to install each and every app that I had, instead of a "Click here to reinstall everything." I only saved the apps that I wanted/needed, so I feel as if I got cheated by buying this app.

I have been using MyBackup Pro lately to backup and restore all my apps when flashing/ installing new ROMs. What is the difference in the backup created by Mybackup pro and ROM manager? Is there an advantage to using one instead of the other?

I used mybackup to backup my apps, then did the update.zip install. I restored my apps just fine. What I'm worried about is my apps not receiving updates from the market when they're available. Does anyone know if I'll get the updates or not?

I'm going to do the Samsung Moment, but going to use MyBackup to back up my settings.
A few questions:
1. does it back up the call log?
2. does it back up SMS?
3. does it back up Google Chat content?
4. does it back up all apps? I have apps that I want restored but not to the latest version that's on the marketplace.
5. Do I need to buy the MyBackup Pro version, or is the free version sufficient for helping me through the Samsung Moment upgrade process and get my settings / content back the way it was?

Went to back up all my apps, but there is not enough space online. Not sure I want to pay for more space.
So what are people doing? Backing up to SD card, removing SD card, and placing it in a safe place should their phone get lost/stolen?

I've installed MyBackUp Pro, but when I try and run it it asks me to enter the google order number, which I have. However, selecting the text field doesn't open the keypad, and I can't find a way of manually opening it, so I can't enter the number. Any suggestions? The alternative of looking up the details is no use as my name or postcode wasn't on the order.

I recently rooted my phone and have been playing around with ROMS and such and clearly needed to back all of my information up. I used the nandroid backup and titanium backup for my apps and then i realized i had no contacts.
So i found mybackup pro and it works great! i actually use this instead of titanium backup now. my only problem is that when it backed up my contacts, i only had like 400+ contacts and now i had 1500
i was able to filter out the extra 1000 by viewing only people with phone numbers, i guess it added all of my fb friends to my contact list. How can i get rid of all of these extra people?
its not just the fb contacts that were added, but there seems to many duplicates which are just linked together. when i go to edit a contact, it asks me which contact to edit, and it lists like 3 or 4 of the same contact name and they all say google underneath.

I use MyBackup Pro to backup my sms ..and some not so important apps that I rather restore than install them again. But I noticed that I can not restore SMS when I backing up SMS from CM10.2 and then flashing CM11 rom or any other kitkat roms. The hangout app or if I install the aosp stock sms app remains empty with no restored text messages
I can not make a backup with a kitkat rom and get it to restore. The app says successfull but the texting app remains empty..
I have never gotten Titanium to work to restore text messages either but that was way back with my HTC Desire..
Any alternative apps that works if MyBackup Pro does not do the trick?

I was updating to Froyo yesterday but I still had SPrecovery installed and to get rid of it I had to flash the defult non rooted 2.1 which would reset my phone, so naturally I used Mybackup Pro to save all my apps and data. So I went ahead and got all my apps back on my phone but for some reason none of the free apps are showing up as installed in the android market. So despite having the apps on my phone the android market doesn't know I own them. Can anyone help me in making the android store recognize all my apps. I figure I could manually go and install all the apps already on my phone, but wont this take up double the space if I already have the apps?

They are at the final battle. It looks like we might have a fight on our hands since the Palm Pre just got the free hot-spot options from Verizon. March Smart Phone Madness Finals: Motorola Droid vs. Palm Pre Plus
The main points that I like to enjoy is: Droid beat out the phone that beat the iPhone, and the Droid got further in the brackets than any other Android OS phone Some of the progress is due to hardware, some due to following (over the Nexus'), but a lot due to the v2.01 (and now 2.1) version of the Android OS. Also, this poll is open ALL weekend - it does not close until April 5th, so we have tons of time...but then again, so does the Palm Pre. Let's have at 'em!
