Motorola Droid X :: Way To Remove Koush's Recovery?

Aug 21, 2010

Is there anyway to easily remove the bootstrap? I seem to have jumped the gun without reading that the bootstrap causes you to not be able to upgrade to 2.2. Anyway, I know you can flash the .SBF to the phone (by the way, I have no idea what that .SBF file is.), but I'm looking for a way that you can just remove it without losing all of my applications and such. So is there any easy way to do this? Also, if there is, I'd like to edit my post and put it in here as a tutorial so they can possibly sticky this thread in case anyone gets into a situation such as mine.

Motorola Droid :: Performing The 2.2 Recovery?

Jun 10, 2010

I've rooted my phone in 2.0.1 because I've failed a few times to get the 2.2 update to work properly and installing 2.1 upon rooting takes too much time when you fail over and over.

With that said I tried installing 2.2 via the recovery. It unpacked installed etc. Then when it booted it now had a new opening splash. It just said android with some light going over it as if it were loading possibly? But it would blink as if to boot into something and just pop back up like it was resetting.

Then I noticed on mydroid they mentioned installing an update.zip file in order to use the sprecovery. Tried that on 2.01 then tried installing the 2.2 recovery via advanced recovery etc. Still just the android name continuously. I've succesfully gotten smoked glass working on this phone before. So I know my way around a little.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong? All the guides I'm finding have dead links so its been a real pain to find a straightfpward step by step.
My question is that logo means somethings wrong I'm assuming? And I did notice I had version 0.99.2b not 0.99.3b? like I had last time.

Version I tried installing.

Motorola Droid X :: Manually Boot Into Koush Recovery

Oct 7, 2010

I semi-bricked my phone. I installed Rubix Rom through Rom Manager and it installed over top of FlyX. It starts up like normal (just doesn't go to the Koush Recovery screen on startup). When I unlock the phone, there is just the status bar and everything else is completely black. I can connect usb and change how it connects. Is there a way to get into the Koush Recovery manually at startup somehow? I just want to flash back my backup. I'm at work and I'm using OSX so I can't exactly do the SBF (unless someone knows a way without having to set up a virtual machine).

Motorola Droid :: Cant Boot Into Recovery (clockwork)

Jul 20, 2010

I downloaded one of chevys kernel an I was going to install this kernel hoping for better battery life. Before I did, I tried booting into recovery and all I got was the M symbol. I then tried flashing alternate recovery(sprecovery) and then went to boot into recovery an that still didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know if its related to that download of the kernel or what. But this is very frustrating knowing I don't have recovery.

Motorola Droid :: ROM Recovery - Cannot Use Clockwork Or Droidmod

Mar 20, 2010

Getting a little more experienced loading up different ROMS after rooting and have a pretty basic question about recovery methods. Rooted my phone with DroidMod....then loaded up their Droidmod version 1. wanted to try out Koush's new Cyanogenmod 5.0.4.2, so I installed ROM Manager with Clockwork Recovery, then loaded up 5.0.4.2. later went to a customized version of Koush's mod that loaded via Recovery 0.99.3b (sprecovery)

My question is, if I load a ROM via sprecovery, then I cannot use Clockwork or Droidmod, or vice versa....each is an alternative that can't be used at the same time....correct? also if I do want to switch back and forth, I guess I need to reboot into that particular method?

Motorola Droid :: ROM Manager / Clockwork Recovery

Mar 16, 2010

Very simple can we use Koushik's ROM Manager / Clockwork recovery rom to restore past Nandroids created using SPRecovery .0.99.3b? Even if I boot right into the clockwork ROM and perform a restore from the ROM itself like we do with SPRecovery. Or do I have to push SPRecovery back in order to restore my archived ROM's and other dev's ROMs that use SPRecovery.. like Pete, AdamZ, Chevy, etc. I'm sure it's been answered but I also can't be the only one who's unclear.

Using Rom Manager, Clockwork recovery, on any ROM, currently Pete's V1. I have yet to successfully restore a previously backed up ROM without getting the MD5 checksum error. I've tried both from inside Rom Manager, manage backups, and booting into recovery and hitting the backup directory. File names are left at default, as 2010-05-02-02.42.46. Frustrating as I wind up having to start from scratch if a ROM install fails.

I go into the rom manager and select download, I select to wipe my data and to backup the system, then I restart in the Clock Work Recovery Mod. Once there I can not find the Cyanogen 6.0 to flash. Motorola Droid X : Clockwork Recovery Image - Deodexed Rooted

Aug 25, 2010

this WILL wipe your phone. Make a backup prior to doing this and of course im not responsible, blah blah blah Don't be an idiot either, you must be on Froyo 2.2 to restore an image of 2.2. So, to the question (Can I use this to update my 2.1 and have root). I've noticed that most people that CAN'T run it (MD5 error) are people that did a factory reset. What i would suggest to anyone else reading this, is if you know you have factory reset on 2.2, this probably will not work (by all means try). BUT if you WANT to run it that bad, do a data wipe, and THEN sbf. Root 2.1, update to 2.2, install koush's bootstrapper and try again. that will probably work. Credits to krayzee1 on alldroid for posting this. Mike919 we now have a clockwork recovery backup that you can recover to your phone. What does this give me? well it gives you a way to restore your phone to its default state but it has already been rooted and deodexed. If you dont know what root or deodexed are then please search around the forums.
