View 11 RepliesJust saw this in the Market Place. HEAT theme for the Dolphin browser supports pinch-zooming!
Initial tests show it works great..
My one gripe about the phone is solved.. all is well in the world again.
I'm building a mobile site and have the following meta tag set in the header:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" />
Unfortunately, this isn't working on HTC devices (HTC Hero, etc) with Android 2.1. Any ideas on how I can disable pinch-to-zoom in this browser? Works fine on the iPhone.
Is that true? If so, that's a serious flaw for me because I resize text instead of using my reading glasses, constantly. I really don't want to have to keep scrolling back and forth to read larger text. Darn. What were they thinking?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSpent 2 weeks poking around Android SDKs and sacrificed last two weekends and finally managed to get a relatively stable version today. Named 'xScope', I did put a $2.99 price tag tough if you please excuse me. I need to buy a bird for this thanksgiving and wife kept bashing my development effort for not doing any housework in the past weeks. The browser is not full blown but works great for simple surfing.

Htc Hero is supposed to be a multi touch device, you can pinch to zoom in browser and in photo viewer, the thing that I can't understand is why all other applications don't support multitouch.
For example I downloaded snesoid and nesoid and there is written in the options that my firmware (1.5) doesnt' support multitouch, making it impossible to play games.
So is HTC hero with 1.5 really multitouch or not? And will I be able to use multitouch in emulators and other apps downloaded from the market when the 2.1 will come out?
Coming from an iPhone to the Fascinate, I've noticed that the pinch to zoom feature in the browser auto-fits the text after the zoom in. On my iPhone that didn't happen. I can see where auto-fit would come in handy, but there are times I don't want the layout of the site to change. I just want to zoom it a little - I'll happily finger scroll to the left, right, up, or down to read something.
Is there a way to disable the auto-fit on the zoom-in for the stock browser? I know there are other browsers out there, but I'm asking about the stock browser.
Perhaps this is a feature coming in 2.2?
My pinch to zoom does not work? Why?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI think I read somewhere that the hardware is multi-touch capable.. so, pinch to zoom should be do-able with software, yes? Does anyone know (for sure) if the upcoming Android 2.1 release will bring that to the Moment?
View 25 Replies View RelatedI've had my Desire for about a week end enjoyed pinch to zoom in many applications over the first few days. Somehow the feature was disabled or removed and I struggle to enable it again. Other threads mentioned an update followed by a reboot. I'm not aware of any OS updates and I've done several reboots without any change to the issue. Also, these threads seemed to be US related and about other and slightly older phones.

Please could someone point me how to re-enable pinch to zoom?
I have a Motorola droid (orig) that when you are web browsing there is a bar that comes up on the bottom right with +/- to adjust zoom level. Does this still exist on the Droid 2 Stock Browser?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to know if there is some kind of class to use the multitouch features of android 2.1. Specifically I am trying to implement pinch-zoom and was wondering if I always have to measure the distance between two touch events and calculate the zoom level on my own?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I just picked up my Eris yesterday. For the most part it is working great right now but a couple things are a little annoying.
First, pinch zoom isn't working in the Google Maps app. Should it? Works great in the browser when surfing the web but not in maps for some reason.
Second, it clicks at me. For example, I'll hit the red power/call end button when I'm done using it to turn off the display. Then I'll set it down on the table or something and it makes these little intermittent click sounds just sitting there. After 5 minutes or so it stops. It isn't constant, just a couple clicks ever 10-30 seconds for a little bit then stops.
What would cause the pinch too shrink and stretch to zoom fail on this stock camera app?.. it has only happened since the 2.1 leak .
View 4 Replies View RelatedI guess that's what it's called? Basically where the web page/text reformats to fit the width of the screen when zoomed. There is a video floating around from The Street TV where the "reviewer" says the DX doesn't do this.I really like this feature (Evo does this quite well) and is one of my pet peeves with browsing on my Ipod Touch.Does anyone know for sure whether DX does or doesn't have this capability?I asked the guy who did the AC benchmark test and he said that the DX does do this. Someone else said that it's a setting in the browser. Others are saying that it doesn't do it.Seems like such a basic feature that I can't imagine a phone like the DX would not be able to do this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI finally installed bugless beast 7.4 and really like it. I like the multi touch in all the applications but I found that I miss having the zoom buttons in the browser. I like the multi touch for fine zoom control but I like just hitting the zoom button and it automatically fits the text to the screen. Does anyone know of a way to have both? I know you can double tap the screen but I find I like the button better.
View 9 Replies View RelatedNot really happy with the way pinch zoom was implemented and would like to go back to double tap.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI noticed that about 35% of the time when I try to pinch/zoom it flat out doesn't work. The little +/- are there and double tapping works just as it did pre-update.
Is this happening to anybody else? Most of the time its perfectly fine but when it doesn't work it acts pretty much like it did before the update.
I noticed my pinch to zoom isnt working today when surfing the web. Anyone else having this problem? Any thing I can do to fix it?
