View 3 Replies View RelatedI just wanted to know if there is some kind of class to use the multitouch features of android 2.1. Specifically I am trying to implement pinch-zoom and was wondering if I always have to measure the distance between two touch events and calculate the zoom level on my own?

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no" />
Unfortunately, this isn't working on HTC devices (HTC Hero, etc) with Android 2.1. Any ideas on how I can disable pinch-to-zoom in this browser? Works fine on the iPhone.
Is there something in the settings to change?

Initial tests show it works great..
My one gripe about the phone is solved.. all is well in the world again.
Is that true? If so, that's a serious flaw for me because I resize text instead of using my reading glasses, constantly. I really don't want to have to keep scrolling back and forth to read larger text. Darn. What were they thinking?
View 32 Replies View RelatedSo I just picked up my Eris yesterday. For the most part it is working great right now but a couple things are a little annoying.
First, pinch zoom isn't working in the Google Maps app. Should it? Works great in the browser when surfing the web but not in maps for some reason.
Second, it clicks at me. For example, I'll hit the red power/call end button when I'm done using it to turn off the display. Then I'll set it down on the table or something and it makes these little intermittent click sounds just sitting there. After 5 minutes or so it stops. It isn't constant, just a couple clicks ever 10-30 seconds for a little bit then stops.
What would cause the pinch too shrink and stretch to zoom fail on this stock camera app?.. it has only happened since the 2.1 leak .

View 2 Replies View RelatedMaybe it's just semantics, but I feel the need to see how others feel about this.I have always loathed the computer term "cut and paste" because you actually COPY and paste, at least that goes for 99.999% of my usage with those functions. So now the question is, do we apply the same reverse terminology to this fictional, mystical, function, that we have only seen in fuzzy Youtube videos? The reason I ask this is. the initial view of any web page that I visit, I see the whole page, and if I want to be able to read a particular column I would need to zoom into it, but here is where the terminology gets confusing, because in my experience with other devices that use such technology ie: iPod, to zoom in you actually use a stretch motion to zoom in, and a pinch motion to zoom out. I know semantics, you have to pinch to make it zoom one way or the other, but since the most commonly used zoom feature would be to zoom in, it should be called stretch-zoom instead. So how do you feel? Pinch-zoom Stretch-zoom or just plain old Multi-touch.

Named 'xScope', I did put a $2.99 price tag tough if you please excuse me. I need to buy a bird for this thanksgiving and wife kept bashing my development effort for not doing any housework in the past weeks. The browser is not full blown but works great for simple surfing.

Update: A commenter on my Youtube video has found a fix!
I wanted to create an gallery with images.The images within the gallery should be zoomable and pannable. I could able to pinch-zoom an image but could not able to set zoom limitand prevent the image from being panned off the screen. I used the following code to zoom an image:http://code.google.com/p/4chan-image browser/source/browse/src/se/robertfoss/MultiTouch/TouchImageView.javaspec=svnd3e623ddeb6f9e97d9eba2c7aaa7c4567a3822b5&r=d3e623ddeb6f9e97d9eba2c7aaa7c4567a3822b5 First approach : I used TouchImageView to supply images to gallery, this allows me to pinch zoom but can't scroll the gallery. i.e I cant differentiate between 'single tab event' and 'tab to scroll event'

View 3 Replies View RelatedCouple of questions about the GMail app on the desire. Firstly, does anyone know if there's any was of getting it to always show pictures for a given sender (like the web app)? I seem to have a decent connection most places, and get fed up of constantly having the press the button, especially as most of the emails I get are HTML type newsletters. And related to the type of emails, why doesn't the GMail app also have pinch to zoom when viewing the messages? They always come up huge and I have to scroll around. Can you at least change the default zoom. Failing that is there a another free email app. that will do these things.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn my HTC sensation, I can, for example, open a news story on CNN and if the text was too small, I could pinch the screen jesture to zoom out then the phone would resize the font AND still keep the web page fitting on the screen.
Now, with my Samsung 3s, you can't do this. You can zoom, but the phone does not resize and ensure the page fits on screen. So, you have to read and pan around left, right, up down just to read.
I tried to load other browsers that claim to offer this zoom, resize, fit to screen feature, but none of them worked when loaded onto v4.0.4.
