I don't know if anyone had the problem of being able to send mms over handcent, but they got an update now that allows this. It even allows you to send slideshow messages. Ex) you want to send a picture with a small ringtone or audio file it will send it! It also auto splits messages longer than 160characters for us into mms. Awesome app, im glad they keep updating it.

I updated handncent to version 35. Now when i get a text and the popup displays it freezes for about 25 seconds and in small print is says "cpu is restoring last session". It will eventually go away and my keyboard appears. Any idea why this is doing this or how to go backto a previous version?

This has never happened until after the update but I also got a new droid the same day. So I dont know if this is due to my new droid or the update. Has anyone else noticed this?

But reliability is Job 1, so I kept chompSMS for a few weeks.Then I heard that Handcent received a major update a few days ago, so I replaced chompSMS with Handcent. So far so good. I got all the features back, and I haven't had one single issue in days of texting. So if you're like me and you left Handcent for chompSMS, you may want to give the new version a spin.

From reading the comments, it appears it only works with HTC phones because of the flash lite already on them. I installed it, and tested a few sites and it seems to work great. I didn't to a test before I installed it to see what sites didnt work. ANyway, here's the link if anyone wants to experiment. Using VideoView, however, I am able to play the same RTSP link but not in full size. DavidSparks I am attaching a cc to you cos I have seen a similar kind of issue in your name. Can anyone help me in playing a full screen RTSP video. The Youtube application in G1 does so.

So I read where the HTC Desire can be purchased as its unlocked. Will this work with ATT 3G? From what I have read it will be compatible on ATT 3g. Also does the Desire support full exchange active sync policies? I read somewhere where HTC has put all the necessary security policies in place versus the N1 that does not support.

The problem is that if I tell Eclipse to compile for 1.5, it refuses to accept this. It reports an error (targetSdkVersion is an unknown tag) and refuses to compile or run. If I tell it to compile for 1.6 it works fine, of course. But if I then try to install on a 1.5 AVD, the program immediately crashes with a java.lang.VerifyError. I'm clearly missing something simple. How do I get it to compile an apk that works under 1.5, but still includes the targetSdkVersion tag?
So like everyone else I was getting really annoyed about the time stamp issue with handcent under 2.2. I looked at the release notes for handcent and saw that version 3.27 added some sort of timestamp fix for the Droid X. Apparently this actually causes problems with the DroidX 2.2 official release. I got an older copy of handcent (version 3.26) and now everything appears with the correct time stamps. I got the apk from here: Download Handcent SMS for Android at Freeware Lovers. You will also need to use the app SMS Time Fix from the market to address the problem with the delay that causes messages to be out of order. So I guess one less thing broken, now if only they can fix the double lock.

View 49 Replies View RelatedI have about 2 gigs of music on my sd card and my phone still runs smooth as silk. Then I put 8 or 9 gigs worth of videos (mp4's) on there and the whole phone started lagging BIG TIME. Like, lagging more than a...Err, slower than a...Well, something. I mean, I'd swipe from one home screen to the next and the screen wouldn't actually change for 4-5 seconds; And scrolling up and down through gchat IM's or in the app drawer was VERY choppy. I tried a power cycle and a battery pull to no avail. The only thing I did before this laggy behaivor started was dragging-and-dropping those videos onto the card, so I tried deleting them, power cycled the phone and now I'm back to the original smoothness.
I suppose I can live without watching videos on my phone (though, they would have come in handy on a roadtrip I have later this week), but has anyone experienced anything like this?
So I downloaded Handcent and the handcent keyboard in order to have T9 functionality (I like to type fast with one hand), and found the Handcent T9 keyboard to be pure crap.
First, it doesn't even have basic words in it, but mainly the letters only show and the numbers don't, so have to do a seperate thing just to put numbers in. Since it was free I got what I paid for.
So I search the market and found Better Keyboard and then had to also buy its T9 app, called EvenBetter Keyboard and this is much better. Is it worth it to buy to apps (2.99+3.99) just for T9 when there was a half-ass working one in Handcent for free? I don't know, but I am happy with it.
Was wondering if other people used T9 on Handcent and/or EvenBetter keyboard and what are your thoughts.
Please dont let this thread become a QWERTY vs T9 fight. Just asking about T9 and which vendor do you prefer using?
I'm trying to change my "Account Picture" in Handcent so that I'm not a silhouette with a question mark above my face in the chat threads. Unfortunately, when I go to change my Account Picture, it does nothing. Instead, it changes my X's home screen background to whatever picture I had selected for my Account Picture.

Anyone have suggestions for what I'm doing wrong in setting it up?Is there somewhere that I'm missing that says USE BUBBLES or something? I have the colors and all set up, but it just shows the standard style. Under the bubble setting, I have Handcent selected.

I immediately went to download chompsms but it is nowhere to be found in the android market. I tried to install it from the web browser but it gives me an error message "There is a problem parsing the package".
So I installed handcent sms and it seems fine except when I go to compose a new message there are no contacts in the contact list even though I have all my contacts from my gmail account.

I just downloaded the update to Handcent and they made it so the contacts picture shows in the chat area, thereby limiting the overall space available for messages. To me, this is not a beneficial update and I want to disable the new feature. Has anyone figured out how to do so yet? I may look into Chomp SMS if this cannot be disabled.

I can not buy or commit to anything without a bunch of reviews and , of course full specs. So when waited patiently for the countdown to end , I was hoping for an unveiling with meat. View 46 Replies View RelatedI just got home with my new Droid and I am wondering if I got a lemon. My screen seems very dim. I didnt really notice it in the store, however compared to my Droid Eris (which is at about 30% screen brightness) the Droid looks much dimmer, even when its at 100% brightness. The only other thing I can think of is that its the Invisible Shield the guy at Best Buy applied for free. Do they dim the screen at all? With my Eris I can literally have it turned to 25% brightness and it seems brighter than the Droid at full. As does my iPod touch. It has to be turned down to 50% or so before it matches the Droid at full. I have turned off auto brightness and manually turned up the Droid to full.
