When I dial out using Google Voice the area code and number aren't the mine...does the person i am dialing see MY GV number on their caller ID.....GV is pretty useless for me if it is dialing out with a number unknown to my contacts

My dad and I did the Buy One Get One Free deal with the Moto Droid and the Eris. He's liking more than the Treo I convinced him was outdated but he's having trouble with it calling people while in his pocket. According to him, after he pressing the red button to hang up a call and puts the phone in his pocket, awhile later someone will be on the line, or when he means to ignore a call it'll pick up. He's pretty good with technology.I think I may have posted in the wrong forum? Not sure if this one is Droid specific. I got redirect to this one from another post dealing with a similar issue on an Eris that never got answered.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFrom day one, everyone in my family has noticed that when I start up my phone it automatically sends everyone covered by my family plan (4 other phones) a blank text message. I've looked for a button to uncheck this feature, but none exists (to my knowledge). Last night I mentioned it to my local service rep and they're at a loss. They've heard it happening, even amongst themselves, but don't have a solution.
Does anyone have any experience with this and have you been able to turn it off?
My wife's stock 1.5 Eris got the 2.1 update the other day. Since then she cannot setup her speed dials. It goes through like it works, but there are still no speed dials in the list. I cleared cache and data from Dialer and the two People apps in the manager, but it hasn't resolved it. VZW support last night had me do a battery pull, but that also didn't help.
So other than the Factory Reset option, is there anything I can do? Are there any apps specific to Speed Dials? I'd like to avoid the reset at all costs, if possible.
I have a DROID eris HTC and there are only 9 speed dials. My antique LG would let me use any number for a speed dial even if it was two digits. It came in handy as each person was assigned his or her birthdate. Now with my high tech phone I only have 9? Please tell me there's a way. There must be seeing as 86 is speed dial.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy work number is a contact, if I choose that contact to dial, the X goes to do it but in the reception bars area a red circle appears and the screen reverts back to the previous one. I can dial other numbers fine and there is service. My work number is also in all my co-workers contact cards as well. I had one contact that I deleted and added again, and then the X would dial and the call go through. Any thoughts? It is only a few numbers this happens with, no pattern I can see yet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedLots of my contacts - especially my "favorite" contacts - have multiple phone #'s, which is pretty typical. So it's a nice feature in the dialer that lets you select a specific number - home, office, mobile, etc., to dial every time you pull up the favorites tab within the dialer screen. I by mistake checked "use as default number" for one particular contact, but now I want to deactivate that selection and have no default number for that particular contact.
I know how to switch the default number from one to another; is there a way to deactivate the default number and just have the phone ask me which number to dial, e.g. home, office, mobile, etc.? I've been trying to tinker with everything I can to no avail, and I've also been shut out trying to answer this question online. Only thing I haven't done is call Verizon.
I got my Droid 2 a couple weeks ago, and I'm having two problems with my contacts list: 1) For some contacts, the phone numbers aren't displayed when I view the contact. To see the numbers, I have to edit the contact. This is only true for some, not all. Is there a setting somewhere that this is controlled? 2) Sometime when I go into my contact list, I see a list of social media items for my contacts instead of their names (which is very frustrating). What controls this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem ever since I got my Motorola Droid basically (November 2009). Sometimes my droid will dial the last number that was called by itself while it is locked.
Whenever I am done making a call or using my phone I hit the screen dim button at the top. Also I have the pattern lock code turned on. I also have a blue tooth headset that is always attached to my phone, its this Plantronics Discovery 925:

Basically my droid will just call the last number that I have called on it's own. This happens when I have it in my pocket, and when I have it just sitting on a table with nothing touching the phone or my headset. Sometimes like when my friend is right next to me, he will say hey your calling me, and ill take my phone out of my pocket, hit the screen dim button, and I will see that it is still locked with the pattern lock, but that a call is underway (phone call icon is present in the top left)
I was wondering it somehow my bluetooth making these calls, but as far as I know there is no way to actually make a call directly from the bluetooth, and at any rate the phone is locked.
I recently read another post saying that this may be caused by the phone automatically going to the call log after ending a call, so I downloaded this App that was recommended called "Not Call Log" and I have set it to make the phone go to the home screen instead of the call log when calls end.
However just yesterday I have just seen it call by itself twice even after I installed this new app, so it seems the app is not solve the problem. I have seen many threads on this topic but none with any solutions except to use the Not Call Log app, which at least right now doesn't seem to be fixing the issue.
I received the invite for Google Voice/Phone today - I set up the phone, received my new number, and have even called the number to make sure it works...it does....But I want to be able to toggle back and forth from my verizon number and google number when making calls....how do I go about this....
View 5 Replies View RelatedFor most contacts I have *82 in front of the number which will unblock my number because I have my caller ID blocked by default through Verizon. Because text messages will not work with *82 in front of the number I store the same contact without it and use that for texting.
My Droid when texting will sometimes replace the current number I am using with the *82 version even if I have deleted the *82 number for that contact. The only way I know this has happened is when the person I am texting says they did not received it or if I am texting someone who is also on Verizon network and the text delivery status will stay at pending.
Has anyone else had this issue with Google Voice app where its not getting past number verification?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen recieving incoming calls message on screen when call is showing on device screen it shows system message : ["blacklisted incoming number"] {not exact message, but similiar...}. This is happened a couple of times so it is not a fluke. The calls work at first, but after this you cant recieve calls from that number. There is no setting or list to remove or edit the blacklist "feature".
