Motorola Droid :: Nexus One Getting Google Voice Invite With Phone?
Jan 22, 2010I am just curious if we know this or not. I would like an invite, but it seems like the invites are inconsistent in terms of the turnaround time from the initial request. I have read recently how some have gotten an invite the next day and other have waited two weeks or longer. That said, could the N1 be delaying the invites? The Google Voice YouTube channel promotes the fact that the N1 comes with GV pre-installed. Does anyone know if this also includes an invite? I am will to be patient for a little while on GV, but if I have to wait too long, I may just have to go with YouMail.

Jun 12, 2010I got an invite to Google voice and They give you an option to use your number or get a new one. I really don't need a new number but you do get more features than using your own phone number. I never call outside of the US either. Don't know which one to pick.

Apr 7, 2010I got a GV number and am planning on using it for free texting.
However, if I tell people that I changed my number and tell them to call/text on my GV number, will it charge anything extra?
I understand that if the call is forwarded to my VZW number, I'll still be charged my monthly minutes, but nothing more, correct?
Also, I had my brother call the GV number and it prompted him to say his name and then forwarded the call to my VZW number, asking me to accept or decline. To me, this seems awfully similar to a collect call. I did change the settings though so that callers do not have to say their names and their calls go straight through.
Basically, I guess what I'm asking is would I be risking anything [money] by telling people to use my GV number for all calls/texts/etc? Or should I just give everyone two numbers, my VZW for calling and GV for texting?

Feb 27, 2010So as most i'm confused on how to get good voice, I've submitted to google for an invite but haven't heard anything and I recently deleted my VVM app becuz im not paying 2.99 a month extra....now I dont have any way to get notifications that i have voicemails...cept a msg from Verizon telling me to reinstall VVM [my service is being stopped after this billing cycle since i'm already paying for it this month]...which i assume msgs will stop when the service is removed?...can someone with a google voice acct invite me?

I have Voice set up on one of them, and just recently got an invite for another. On my extra account, is that invite locked to that account or can I just give away the URL that was in the invite email?

Jan 23, 2010I changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)

From my understanding google voice does not support that. I did read about an application called iTim for the iphone which allows you to use MMS through google voice. Is there any such product for the Android? Having SMS/texting through google voice would save $30/month on my cell phone bill, so it's kind of a big deal.

Went through the verification process and dialed the * number from my phone and everything went well. Got my welcome messages and all. Jun 11, 2010I just changed my google voice number to a google number today from the random number I had before. But now I can't call it from any 216 area code. This creates a problem because my phone is a 216 area code. So I can't call my own voicemail - It just says the number cannot be completed as dialed. When I call from a different area code it's fine. No contact groups or anything are blocked and I can call out. I'm stock and haven't rooted or anything.

Do all calls that go through my google voice number count as friends and family? Also, I currently do not have google voice set up to make calls.
