If it's possible how about removing every stop application that you can not download from the marketplace? If the application isn't downloadable by preference leave it, if it can be downloaded at a later time remove them. I have some applications like car home, clock, gmail, and google talk that I never use.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLike the title states, my wife's Ally is suffering from random re-boots at a rate of at least 20x per day. The phone re-boots when in use and when idle. This has become quite annoying to say the least.
My wife did stop at Verizon yesterday. She was told by the rep, the reason for her problem, was due to her having approximately 800 text messages stored on her phone. She deleted all her texts and is still suffering from this problem.
We have removed all applications from the Ally without success. As always, this problem started taking place on day 32. It looks like she is stuck with the Ally, so a solution is a must.
With Verizon trying to push an update, is there a way to stop the update notifications from popping up periodically because I want no part of it from what i've read.

I would like to have Velocity 0.2 on my phone but I cannot stand the constant nagging to update. I have tried flashing VZB and going back and the notifications still appear. Has anyone managed to stop the notifications?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with some applications that simply disappeared. Some them did it after I moved them to SD card. I think (I'm not absolutely sure about it) that some of those "disappeared" applications were not moved to SD card.
The problem is, that if I try to install the application again, system tells me that it is already installed. If I choose to install it again (upgrade the app), the installation fails.
The problem is that I can't remove these applications because I don't see them listed in installed apps. I will have to remove the applications manually, but I don't know how to do it. I have root access, so I should be able to do it.
I posted b this in the troubleshooting forum, but few people look there, I guess. I tried to update mixing and it failed a few times. I didn't think much about it until I decided to spring for the paid version. I bought it, but it wouldn't upload either. So I went to un install mixing in hopes that a fresh re-install would fix the problem, but there's no option to un install. I have my apps backed up, so I tried un installing mixzing that way, but it fails. The app itself works fine. Mixing may have been bundled with UD 9.8, my current ROM, but I'm not sure. I guess ultimately what I need help with is completely removing the app so I can start with a fresh install.(Switching, or even reinstalling the ROM is simply not an option. It takes me days to get my phone back the way I like it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe updated ROM firmware updated wonderfully and now the fun is really responsive and fast with very little noticeable lag. I have searched but can't see anyone else mention this, I can't believe this is just me though. When you want to remove an item from the screens now, it will start the app just by touching and not give time enough to highlight so that it can be dragged to 'remove' tab. One example is googlemaps from the homescreen. Have I overlooked a setting which will allow this or are the updates to speed such that it is a little too responsive now?

I was curious how to read the available memory in the process manager screen. I don't know what the x+x in x also x in x means. I don't want to install an app that eats up memory to see how much memory is being used. I'm not trying to control how it uses memory but, I do like to see how much memory there is available after I install and run new apps and/or widgets so I can try and only use lighter apps when possible.

View 7 Replies View RelatedRegardless of the launcher when I try to add a widget and the list is about to show up I get a force close from the Settings app. Im assuming that the Widgets list is part of the settings app but I don't know what I can do to fix it. I've tried:
1 - Using Clockwork to fix permissions.
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this new stock music player. I found (here:MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service or Mirror:new stock music.rar in the .rar file I included 2 things;
1. A Program called system app backupper
2: Data file for System app Backupper.
In order to install the new music app you have to either push the music.apk file in the sysAppBackup folder included, or you can fallow these steps.
Warning: I am not responsible for any bricked or broken phones.
*requires root*
1. Download .rar file included in this post.
2. Unzip
3. Copy contents of the "new stock music" folder found in .rar to root of sd card so that the folder titled "sysAppBackup" and the file called com.bg.sab.apk is sitting in the root of your sd.
4. Install com.bg.sab.apk to phone. this will install system app backupper to phone.
5. Open the app you just installed. when open it will ask you if you want to be in "backup" or "restore" mode.
6. Choose "restore"
7. On the screen it will just say "music.apk" (unless you already use the app) click on that to check it.
8. Press the menu button, and than press restore.
9. Restart phone.
10. All done.
If phone goes into boot logo loop, reboot into recovery and than clear cache/dalvik cache and fix permissions! I did not make any of these app, nor know who did. I would give credit to the developers if I knew who they were.
I was just wondering if there was any setting that would allow me to use the HTC Email Widget (with my G mail account) without receiving two copies of the same email (one through G mail, and one through HTC mail)? It's a little annoying having to delete double-copies of the same email each morning. I stopped using the HTC Email application completely, but there's no widget for G mail (which I prefer to the HTC application).

On which, I am getting 3 times "Stop Application" msg box, which covers 3 previous screen and comes back to the first screen. I understand I must have encountered with Error may be IndexOutOfBoundException which I have not addressed it in my code. I was wondering why it asks for extra 3 times "Stop Application" system message. It is fine to display an "Stop Application" system message if I encountered an error in any screen it should stop that particular screen and should come to the next screen on. How can I trap/catch such incidents not to occur in the consecutive screen. If the above description is not clear at any place please let me know that I be more clear to you.

It keeps popping up on the top bar whenever I get a text from anyone even after accessing that text in Handcent. It's not that big a deal but I need to go into my messaging app and view it to get rid of that notification. Is there a way to stop the notifications for the messaging app? Thank you.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an application with many forms implemented as separate activities. The form variables are dynamically built based on a database, and there are a ton of variables in the C++ side of the application (accessed via JNI). I don't see how saving out all of this data to persistent storage each time the onPause() or the onSaveInstanceState() of one of these many activities goes into the background is a smart use of processor time. And I don't see how even if I save the local variables for each activity during that time I'd be able to restore a single activity within the context of all the others.
I have set up a service that auto saves the files when I detect that the app has gone into the background. (I set a time stamp when onPause() is called in any activity and then clear the time stamp when onResume() is called on any other activity. If the time elapsed is more than a few seconds, I know I'm not the top activity any longer and the service saves the files).
What I'd like to do is continue on as normal unless the OS kills one of my activities. Since we don't always get notified of this, I thought it would be nice if there were a way to tell the OS that I'd rather you kill the whole app than just one activity.
I am using 2.3.4 and facing critical memory outage (in my galaxy S plus), reason being most of those applications I install keep on running in the background, when i kill them using some (Task Killer) they automatically kicks off and restart themselves again.
Is there anything like services (the way we have in windows) which i need to stop to restrict them to run automatically and at startups. I am new to Android.

I have a timer thread setup to play a loop using soundpool, but for some reason I cannot get _soundPool.stop(_playbackTimer); to stop the loop. even if I exit the application the loop keeps running. I have to physically power off the phone to get it to stop. am I missing something here? Does anyone have any experience with this? I have searched with no resolution. below is a snippet.

I have an application that consist of several Activities. When the application starts, some alarms are scheduled using AlarmManager and some services are started:
AlarmManager am = (AlarmManager) context.getSystemService(Context.ALARM_SERVICE);
a.setInexactRepeating(...)....
I would like to know any way to guarantee every service is stopped and every alarm is unscheduled when the user exits the application. The problem is that the user can leave the application from different Activities, and I don't like the idea of overriding the onDestroy method in every Activity. Is there any known Intent I can receive when the application ends? I've also found that an Android application can have a class that extends from Application, with a onTerminate method:

But the documentation is very clear: "never depend on this method being called; in many cases an unneeded application process will simply be killed by the kernel without executing any application code".
